*KEEPING THE BODY BALANCED* (The End)
_Key Bible Text:_
*And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.* (1 John 4:16-17 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
The fear of God ultimately leads to the love of God.
The love of God comes on the heels of the fear of God because that respect and devotion to His word is what God regards as love. A man's perspective of love is respect. For God, his perspective of love is obedience to His word. To love God, is to obey His commands. This is the love that 1John 4:16 speaks of. -- He that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God!
It is important to understand 1 John 4 verse 17 flowing from verse 16. Verse 17 speaks of a destination, a place we must all aspire to get to. It speaks to the ultimate goal of loving God-- to have boldness in the face of judgment because we have come to the fullness of the measure of the stature of Christ. See, loving God, obeying His word fills us with boldness. That's why the righteous are as bold as lion. Amen.
You can't be saying you are like Jesus in this world, while you are grossly underperforming or disobeying the word of God. This is why we have boldness-- because we are obedient to His Word. And we are obedient because we are in love with Jesus. And we love Jesus, because Jesus loved us first.
What does the Bible teach about loving God? (See John 14:15. Loving God is not merely making faith declarations or singing "I love you Lord" or "Jesus, lover of my soul". Loving God is in obedience to His Word)
This then brings us to verse 18 flowing directly from verse 17. The one who has actually matured in loving God, which means to be as Jesus is, to walk in obedience to His word, has nothing to fear. Please ponder these words. Jesus said the prince of this world is coming and He has nothing against Him. That's fearlessness as a result of perfect obedience. Perfect love here stands for perfect obedience. Hence, verse 20 & 21 explains that if we can't show love to men, we are jokers to think that we love God. #Selah
_MEDITATION:_
*Before you scream perfect love casts out fear, do you live in obedience to His Word? Where is your love without your life of obedience? The one who knows he is still struggling with obedience must reverently ask God for help. Even when we rest on the finished works of Christ, we must understand that we have nothing to boast except for God's mercy*

*KEEPING THE BODY BALANCED* (VI)
_Key Bible Text:_
*And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.* (Luke 12:4-5 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
The fear of God must come before, during & after the love of God.
Jesus was very clear about who we MUST fear-- God, who has the power to cast into hell! Whoever taught God no longer demand that we should fear him, is on his own. It is a cheap lie to deceive and mislead, no matter how innocently said. Whoever concludes that the love of God and the fear of God contradicts each other is unschooled in the word of righteousness.
When Noah, "moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world" he exemplified what the Bible teaches when it says, work out your salvation with fear and trembling.
Here is the question that must then be addressed. What about Bible portions that seems to suggest that love of God does not include the fear of God? Let's tackle the most powerful of them all- 1 John 4: 16-21. The chief problem begins when we single out verse 18 and begin to shout and dance with it, without understanding the context of its application.
First, read from verses 16 to 21 and ponder on it in the light of all we have shared already on the subject of love and fear of God. Please never take a subject or teaching or topic only from one or two portions of scripture. Rather, look up as many portions as possible that speaks on the subject. Be like the Berean Christians. Thus, relate back to all we have shared since this series began and the Bible portions explained therein.
Thus, we must approach 1 John 4:16-21 from a holistic approach. Only then can we understand what is being taught.
_MEDITATION:_
*What does it mean to be like Jesus? How does being like Jesus show that we are walking in or working towards perfect love? How does becoming more like Jesus relate with the fear of God?*

*KEEPING THE BODY BALANCED* (V)
_Key Bible Text:_
*By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.* (Hebrews 11:7 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
The love of God in the fear of God
Believers who try to discountenance the Old Testament or simply ignore it, are still unschooled in the word of righteousness. To truly know Jesus, you must SEARCH the scriptures. The scriptures does not only comprise of the New Testament. Hence, by referencing that IT WAS AN ACT OF FAITH that Noah moved with fear in building the Ark, the New Testament has successfully adopted and established the doctrine of the fear of God for believers in Christ Jesus.
Believers must move with fear at the word of God. God is too great and holy for us to do otherwise. The more of Him we know, the more of His love we grow and the more reverence we hold for him. Maybe, knowing a man may not strike us in this way, but knowing Christ more, should definitely strike us, with as much love for Him as fear for Him.
Just as interestingly, Noah moved with fear in preparing the ark and arrived at faith. Likewise as we move with fear in obeying the word of God, it does not only result in faith, but we arrive at more love for God. *The outcome of true fear for God, which drives us to more obedience to His word, is greater love for Him as we see the wonder we become in Him.*
This sort of fear, is what makes the Word of God the means by which God chastises His beloved children. The man whom you do not fear, even his words would be but child's play and nothing to be taken seriously. However, when we truly love God,we tremble at His words. His Word then become an instructive guide that we can't bear to ignore. Such that when it is evoked upon us, we develop a godly sorrow that works repentance.
And what other act shows love for God than when we repent at the rebuke of His word, because we fear Him?
_MEDITATION:_
*For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.* (2 Corinthians 7:10-11 (KJV)) {Please cross reference this passage with other translations of the Bible.}

*Warning Against Oppression*
_Key Bible Text:_
*Indeed the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out; and the cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.*
(James 5:4 (NKJV))
_Bible Insight:_
The Bible is not against the rich or those with means. 1 Timothy 6:10 says the love of money is the root of all evil. Money is not the issue but our heart that uses money to promote ourselves and oppress others is the issue. The Bible warns us against this heart posture which results in selfishness.
How do I know if I have this attitude? How I use my money and how I treat others reveals my heart. Everything we have is a gift from God. It is because of His grace and divine providence. How we look at our possessions and money influences how we live.
If you understand everything is a gift from God, it results in being generous, sacrificial, content and being a good steward. On the other hand, if you think you have earned what you have, if you view that what you have is because of your hard work and achievement, then you become ruthless with money (v.4). In our culture we see people hold out on payments for workers, be stingy with their tips, be calculating with change when dealing with the poor, not sharing resources and under paying people.
The rewards we work for in this world using our strength are no match for the eternal glorious reward that Christ gives. How is it possible to access this imperishable reward? There is no way we can work and earn this reward. This reward is earned by the perfect life of Jesus and His perfect sacrifice on the cross. And this is for those who put their faith in Christ as the One who rewards them instead of seeking their own trophies in this world
_MEDITATION:_
*What is your attitude with regard to your money and possessions? Are you investing in things that corrode and rot, or are you investing in eternal riches?*

*DAILY DEW 2ND/NOVEMBER/2021*
*SUBMIT TO GOD*
_Key Bible Text:_
*Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.*
(James 4:7 (NKJV))
_Bible Insight:_
There is a certain attitude that does not submit to God. And James strongly rebukes this attitude in the passage. James is addressing the attitude that is boastful and arrogant. He calls this evil.
Even though in our culture we don’t like people who boast, all of us boast in our hearts. Boasting reveals what our heart finds confidence and security in. It shows what’s important to us, what we value and what we live for. On the surface it looks like good planning, hard work and being diligent. But deep down in our hearts, it is an attitude that is wise in its own eyes, foolish, arrogant and proud.
This attitude does not recognize that God is sovereign and in control, but instead relies on self-confidence and self-reliance. It is foolish behavior. And this foolishness results in selfish behavior.
James warns us that though we might think we are in control of our lives, the reality is that life is fragile. We are like a mist that appears and disappears. Our life is fleeting. We will be soon forgotten. Nothing we do or keep is forever. It will waste away and rot.
A life that submits to God recognizes this feeble and fleeting nature of life. It is recognized in the transient and temporal nature of earthly pursuits, and seeks and invests in eternal and glorious pursuits.
*MEDITATION*
*Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.*
