*THEY KNEW NOT!*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead."* (John 20: 9 (KJV))
_Bible Insight_
The disciples' lack of understanding about Jesus' resurrection is highlighted in this verse. Despite Jesus' repeated predictions of His death and resurrection (Matthew 16:21, 17:22-23, 20:17-19), the disciples still did not grasp the significance of these events. This verse emphasizes the importance of understanding and applying Scripture to our lives.
The disciples' ignorance of Scripture led to their confusion and unbelief when they encountered the empty tomb. If they had remembered Jesus' teachings about His resurrection, they would have been prepared for this event and would have had a deeper understanding of its significance. This verse teaches us the importance of knowing and applying Scripture to our lives, especially during times of uncertainty and confusion.
This verse also highlights the importance of spiritual understanding and discernment. The disciples saw the empty tomb and the grave clothes, but they did not understand the significance of these events. It was not until Jesus appeared to them and explained the Scriptures that they understood the truth about His resurrection (Luke 24:13-35). This verse encourages us to seek spiritual understanding and discernment, and to rely on God's Word to guide us in times of uncertainty.
_MEDITATION:_
*Three and a half years of teachings and emphasis. Yet, the disciples did not know nor understand when he was eventually crucified. Yet, you read the bible a few times and are already supposing or assuming that you have known the word enough. Dey play!!*

*NICODEMUS!*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight."* (John 19: 39 (KJV))
_Bible Insight_
Nicodemus, a Pharisee and member of the Jewish ruling council, had previously come to Jesus at night, seeking answers about His teachings (John 3:1-21). Now, he boldly comes forward to show his respect and devotion to Jesus, even in death. By bringing a large quantity of expensive spices, Nicodemus demonstrates his love and appreciation for Jesus, and helps to prepare His body for burial.
This verse highlights the transformation that had taken place in Nicodemus's life. Initially, he had come to Jesus in secret, afraid of being ostracized by his peers. However, as he grew in his understanding of Jesus' teachings, he became more confident in his faith, and eventually, he was willing to publicly identify himself with Jesus, even in the face of potential ridicule or persecution.
The lesson from this verse is that true faith requires boldness and courage. As followers of Jesus, we are called to be willing to stand up for our beliefs, even if it means facing opposition or criticism. Nicodemus's example encourages us to be bold in our witness, and to demonstrate our love and devotion to Jesus, both in life and in death.

*DO IT AFRAID!*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus."* (John 19: 38 (KJV))
_Bible Insight_
Joseph of Arimathaea's actions demonstrate a remarkable display of courage and devotion to Jesus. Despite being a secret disciple, Joseph risked his reputation and safety by openly asking Pilate for Jesus' body. This bold move highlights the transformative power of Jesus' teachings and the loyalty they inspired in His followers. Joseph's bravery serves as a testament to the enduring impact of Jesus' message.
This verse also underscores the theme of redemption and restoration. By taking Jesus' body and preparing it for burial, Joseph ensured that Jesus received a dignified and respectful treatment, even in death. This act of kindness and compassion foreshadows the ultimate redemption and restoration that Jesus would accomplish through His resurrection.
The lesson from this verse is that faithfulness and loyalty to Jesus often require courage and risk-taking. Joseph's example encourages us to be bold in our witness and to stand up for what we believe in, even if it means facing opposition or ridicule. As followers of Jesus, we are called to demonstrate our devotion to Him through tangible acts of love and service, just as Joseph did.

*CONSCIOUS EFFORT TO FULFILL SCRIPTURE!*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst."* (John 19: 28 (KJV))
_Bible Insight_
Jesus' statement "I thirst" may seem like a simple physical request, but it holds profound theological significance. By expressing His physical need, Jesus demonstrated His humanity and vulnerability. At the same time, this statement also underscored Jesus' deliberate and voluntary sacrifice on the cross. He was not just a victim of circumstance, but the willing Lamb of God, who gave Himself up for the sins of humanity.
This verse also highlights Jesus' conscious effort to fulfill Scripture. By saying "I thirst," Jesus alluded to Psalm 22:15, which prophesied that the Messiah would experience extreme thirst during His crucifixion. This detail reinforces the idea that Jesus' death was a meticulously planned and executed event, orchestrated by God Himself to accomplish humanity's redemption.
The lesson from this verse is that even in the midst of extreme suffering and vulnerability, Jesus remained focused on fulfilling His divine mission. His statement "I thirst" serves as a poignant reminder of His humanity and His willingness to endure the ultimate sacrifice for our sake. As followers of Jesus, we are called to emulate His selfless example, putting the needs of others before our own, and trusting in God's sovereign plan, even in the midst of adversity.

*WOMAN, BEHOLD THY SON!*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home."* (John 19: 26 - 27 (KJV))
_Bible Insight_
Jesus' final act of love and care before His death on the cross was to ensure the well-being of His mother, Mary. By entrusting her to the care of the beloved disciple, John, Jesus demonstrated His deep concern for those He loved. This act of provision and responsibility highlights Jesus' character as a loving and selfless Son.
This passage also underscores the importance of family and community in the life of a believer. Jesus' instruction to John to care for Mary as his own mother emphasizes the value of adopting and caring for one another as members of God's family. This principle is echoed in Galatians 6:10, where believers are encouraged to "do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers."
The lesson from this verse is that our love and care for one another should extend beyond our biological families to include our spiritual family. As followers of Jesus, we are called to demonstrate His love and compassion by caring for one another, especially those who are vulnerable or in need. By doing so, we reflect the character of Christ and fulfill our responsibility as members of God's family.

*THAT THE SCRIPTURE MIGHT BE FULFILLED!*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did."* (John 19: 24 (KJV))
_Bible Insight_
The soldiers' decision to cast lots for Jesus' garment rather than tear it apart may seem like a minor detail, but it holds significant theological importance. By doing so, they unwittingly fulfilled Psalm 22:18, which prophesied that Jesus' clothes would be divided among His executioners. This event demonstrates the meticulous fulfillment of Scripture, underscoring the divine sovereignty and providence that governed the events surrounding Jesus' crucifixion.
This verse also highlights the intricate web of prophecy and fulfillment that underlies the narrative of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection. The fact that the soldiers' actions, though seemingly random and driven by chance, actually fulfilled an ancient prophecy underscores the idea that God is working out His purposes, even through the actions of those who may not acknowledge or understand Him.
The lesson from this verse is that God's sovereignty and providence are at work in every detail of our lives, even when we may not recognize or acknowledge it. This passage encourages us to trust in the meticulous care and guidance of God, who is working out His purposes in and through us, often in ways we may not fully understand.
_MEDITATION:_

*EXCEPT FROM ABOVE!*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin."* (John 19: 11 (KJV))
_Bible Insight_
Jesus' response to Pilate's authority is a profound statement about the nature of power and responsibility. By acknowledging that Pilate's power comes from above, Jesus underscores the sovereignty of God over all human affairs. This perspective recognizes that even the most seemingly powerful individuals, like Pilate, are ultimately subject to God's authority and providence.
Jesus' statement also highlights the accountability of those who abuse their power or authority. By saying that the one who delivered Him to Pilate (Caiaphas, the high priest) has the greater sin, Jesus emphasizes the gravity of Caiaphas' actions. This serves as a warning to those who would misuse their power or position to harm others, particularly those who are innocent or vulnerable.
The lesson from this verse is that true power and authority come from God, and those who wield power must acknowledge and respect this divine sovereignty. Furthermore, this passage emphasizes the importance of accountability and the consequences of abusing power or authority.
_MEDITATION:_
*As followers of Jesus, we must recognize the limits of human power and authority, and instead, look to God as the ultimate source of wisdom, guidance, and strength.*

*BEHOLD THE MAN!*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man! When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him."* (John 19: 5-6 (KJV))
_Bible Insight_
Jesus' appearance before Pilate and the crowd is a poignant moment in the Passion narrative. The crown of thorns and purple robe, symbols of mockery and ridicule, contrast starkly with Jesus' true identity as the King of kings. Pilate's declaration, "Behold the man!" (Ecce homo!), is a haunting invitation to gaze upon the battered and bruised Jesus, highlighting the shocking disparity between His divine nature and His humiliating circumstances.
The crowd's response, however, is a chilling reminder of human depravity. Despite Pilate's declaration of Jesus' innocence, the chief priests and officers cry out for His crucifixion. Their bloodlust and determination to eliminate Jesus demonstrate the depths of human sin and rebellion against God. This episode serves as a stark warning about the dangers of unchecked ambition, jealousy, and hatred.
The lesson from this passage is that true justice and righteousness are often obscured by human sin and corruption. Pilate's attempt to absolve himself of responsibility by declaring Jesus innocent ultimately proves futile, as the crowd's clamor for crucifixion prevails. This episode highlights the need for divine intervention and redemption, as human systems and institutions are inherently flawed and prone to injustice.
_MEDITATION:_
*"The praises of the crowd is soon buried in their passionate rejection & denouncement. Take the crowd's cheer to heart at your own peril. The cancel culture didn't start today & won't end until the end of time"*
