*DAILY DEW 20TH/FEBRUARY/2022* *Learning The Habit of Evangelism* (II) _Key Bible Text:_ *"Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God."* (Colossians 4:12 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ Habits are developed through constant practice and habits are lost with no practice. One of the areas we must intentionally develop into a habit is the practice of evangelism through prayer. Evangelism through prayer goes hand in hand with any other form of evangelism. In our bid to obey the great commission, we must remember that to obey the "Go" command, must also mean to go forward in prayers for souls and the lost or immature in Christ. Indeed, *"You must go forward on your knees."* in the words of Hudson Taylor How do we do this? How do we form the habit of evangelising through praying? Make a list of souls you must pray over daily. This list will include those who aren't saved from your family and friends. Then also include neighbors, leaders in government and evangelism contacts that needs praying for. How else do you form this habit? In order to always keep your heart ready for evangelism through praying, ensure you make yourself AVAILABLE FOR every opportunity to go out for evangelism, either as a group, church or individually. Every time you go out for evangelism, both before the exercise, during and afterwards, prayer is the vital manure that helps the witnessing yield the needed growth and results. Remember, NO GODLY HABIT IS PERMANENT. PRACTICE! PRACTICE!! In 2013, after a few months of not preaching in buses, I decided to do so again. I got into the first bus and couldn't utter a word till we reached the last bus stop. Unbelievable! What just happened? I got into a second bus, and still didn't utter a word till we reached the last bus stop. Then a third bus, then another round of silence. I went back home totally amazed. I set out later that day and I began to preach again in buses. NO GODLY HABIT IS PERMANENT. PRACTICE! PRACTICE!! Spouses really struggle to know how to articulate themselves as well as how to understand each other. Nearly two thousand years ago, James, the half-brother of Jesus and apostolic leader of the early Jerusalem church, gave us the ultimate plan for better communication (including communication in marriage) and understanding in any context, and it’s made up of three simple phrases. *DAILY DEW 17TH/FEBRUARY/2022* *The Secret of Effortless Praying* _Key Bible Text:_ *"Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer"* (Romans 12:12 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ Don't try to pray for four hours, 'fall in love' with God. Become His friend. In secondary school I read in one of Ben Carson's books how when he worked in a different place from his wife, they could speak on the phone for 6 straight hours. There were no mobile phones then. I said to myself six hours? I could not imagine that kind of jobless joblessness! Only a few years later, in the university; I would stay up till 4 or 5 am every night talking to friends, for consecutive nights. It was called free night call. To all the children here, that was before the days of whatsapp and data calls. I did those 6 hours like it was nothing and would get to class in the morning, tired. So become God's friend. And prayer will be like breathing. It is not enough to be His child...Yes, permit me to say it again...It is not enough to be His child. Become his friend too. (He is already yours) And anyone whose heart touches the Father's becomes a live prayer stream. No buffering. The signal of His 'heart beat' will be so strong, you would barely be able to contain or sustain it without laughing, weeping, rejoicing, groaning, and deep heavy glorious silence; that is, apart from words: in known or unknown tongues. Otherwise, you have believed in vain."* (1 Corinthians 15:1-2 (NIV)) _Bible Insight:_ Honestly, the way some people read the Bible, you will begin to appreciate why English is compulsory throughout school. From the same book of great sense o, brothers will just be teaching great nonsense. It is painful. Not once in Acts did the Apostles preach the gospel as "God loves you". Go check. What they always said, was *"Jesus died for you and God raised Him up."* • There is the only way to spell God's love - THE CROSS. All other preaching is out of context.
