*PRAYER & POWER*
_Key Bible Text:_
*Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.* (James 5:16 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
There is a great and direct link between prayer and power. There is a great effect produced when prayer is backed by righteous living. No wonder James began by requesting that we confess and do away with sins. Goodnews version renders the b part of James 5:16 as follows *"The prayer of a good person has a powerful effect."*
There is no doubt about prayer leading to power. Many reasons abound to this conclusion. An account in Matthew 17:14- 21 readily comes to mind. A man brought an epileptic son of his to Jesus. He explained that the disciples couldn't heal the boy. Jesus immediately healed the boy. Surprised, the disciples came to Jesus asking why they couldn't deal with the boy's case and Jesus mentioned faith as a factor but proceeded to add that you need prayer and fasting to deal with that kind of challenge.
By saying so, Jesus linked power to prayer and fasting. Both in bible times and from the acts of apostles till date, men and women of power have been men who gave themselves to prayers and fasting. Jesus was no exception. Elijah too. Moses too. The apostles too. You too!?
Prayer is potent in the provocation of power. Prayer of a disciplined believer is even more potent. The challenge is how many of us are prayer faithfuls?! How many of us live a consistent life of holiness? God can do so much through a man who lives right and prays so much. Are you that kind of believer?!

*PENTECOST WITHOUT POWER?* (II)
_Key Bible Text:_
*Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.* (1 Corinthians 12:29-31 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Personally, if I have a pen that refuses to write, I wouldn't regard it as a pen anymore. I will discard it and get another if all attempt to get it to write fails. If I have a chair, that can't carry my weight without wobbling, I will either fix it or get a replacement. No one enjoys having a device, like smartphone for instance, that can't browse or make video calls and the like. What's the point here? Once what you have starts missing in its optimum function, you don't try to hide from that problem. Rather, you fix it as long as you can or get a replacement.
If we have the Pentecost and not the power, can we say we have Pentecost? If we have the Holy Spirit baptism, without any evidence, can we claim we are baptised? If we speak in tongues, which is supposed to be an evidence, but cannot preach the gospel to our neighbours, friends, colleagues, etc, are we truly filled with the Holy Spirit? If we have the power, and do not use it, can we correctly claim to have it? Who ever carries power and does not use it?!
This is not the time to pat ourselves in the back or claim that we are doing well. Scripture says, *covet earnestly the best gifts*. If you already have one, COVET another! If you can speak in tongues, COVET gift of prophecy, or faith, or walking in miracles or healing, etc. If you don't have the baptism of the Holy Ghost with any evidence yet, beloved, go for it. Don't stop until you know, with an evidence that you have the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
MEDITATION:
*The Holy Ghost that does not give you power is not THE ONE that the Father promised. The Father promised us the Holy Ghost with literal POWER, not potential power*

*PENTECOST WITHOUT POWER?*
_Key Bible Text:_
*And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.* (Luke 24:49 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Since it was discovered that after His resurrection, Jesus remained on earth, appearing and disappearing for a space of 40 days before he finally ascended to heaven, many believers have figured that 40 days after we mark his death & resurrection, we should also mark the day of Pentecost, signaling the arrival of the Holy Ghost baptism on the disciples. This among many Pentecostals have given rise to "Pentecost Service", "Pentecost Week", "Pentecost Day" etc. However, the question that begs for attention is, was that why Jesus asked the pioneer disciples to tarry in Jerusalem? In other words, was it so that we would have another ceremonious day or week or event to add to the Christian calendar? I think there is more.
The idea is not that the practice is wrong. Not necessarily. However, the point of Pentecost must never be lost while we mark our calendars and special programs. For instance, when we call for our Pentecost week, what about the rest of the 51 weeks of the year? Should they be Pentecost-less? What's the real point of Pentecost? Should it be relegated to a week or should it be manifest in every service and in our daily living?
Here is the idea: Pentecost was a special day because the disciples received the enduement of power as promised by the Father. Power became literally manifest in the lives of the disciples. The focus of Pentecost is not about just receiving "the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues" No! The disciples did not only speak in tongues. They walked, lived and commanded literal power after the Holy Ghost came upon them! This is what we should seek after everyday of our lives and not just in a Pentecost Service -- Power!

*THE BEST WAY TO START AND FINISH YOUR DAY*
_Key Bible Text:_
*Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God."*
(Matthew 4:4 NIV))
_Bible Insight:_
During days of uncertainty and unrest, it’s important to start and end your day by refueling your soul—the part of you that determines the way you think, feel, and choose. Just like your physical body has to be fed every day to stay healthy, so does your soul. *If you're not feeding your soul, you’re going to be drained emotionally and spiritually.*
So how do you refuel your soul? By getting into God's Word every day. Jesus said, "Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God" (Matthew 4:4 NIV). The Bible is life! You don’t just read it when you have a problem and need some advice. You don’t open it up only when you need a pick-me-up. You feed on it every day so that you are consistently nourished and growing in truth and love.
Don’t begin your day by scrolling through your phone or listening to the news. And don’t end your day by filling your mind with something on TV. None of those things are going to feed your soul.
If you only develop one new habit this year, let it be starting and ending your day in God’s Word. Wherever you leave your Bible, leave it open if you can. If the Bible is closed, you will have a tendency to overlook it. But if you leave it open to where you read last time, you’ll have an easier time remembering to be consistent in Bible reading.
It doesn't matter how long you read. It matters how you let God’s Word change you—how you see yourself and others in light of God’s love, how you view your circumstances, and how your relationship with God deepens and grows.

*DAILY DEW 21ST/MAY/2021*
*YOU HAVE TO LOVE YOURSELF*
_Key Bible Text:_
*How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered!*
(Psalms 139:17 (NLT))
_Bible Insight:_
In some of His most famous words, Jesus said, “ ‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself’ †(Matthew 22:37–39).
This shows us the connection between having a relationship with God and having relationships with people. But let’s look closer at the second greatest commandment. Notice that it says, “Love your neighbor as yourself.†Jesus drew a definite connection between our love for others and our love for ourselves.
*Most of us spend so much time hating things about ourselves that we don’t realize we’re crippling our ability to love others.* There’s no way you can figure out how to love somebody else well in a relationship if you have not first figured out how to love yourself.
Some of us treat ourselves so ugly. We settle for way less than what we know we deserve. We violate our bodies and our hearts and allow others to do the same. We use our own words to put ourselves down constantly.
Well, consider this. If you devalue yourself, then you will inevitably end up treating your neighbor, or even your spouse, the same way.
In order to learn to love yourself the way God intended, you have to build a relationship with God, who is love. Remember, your relationship with Him is your ultimate relationship. But then loving yourself means accepting who God created you to be, as hard as that may be for you. It means taking the time to find your fulfillment in Him and realizing that only He can fill the emptiness you feel inside.
The way God created you was not a mistake. Remember, He made the human race and He “saw that it was very good!†(Genesis 1:31). He calls you His masterpiece (Ephesians 2:10). He wants you to see yourself the way He sees you—loved and valuable.
