*Ways to Improve Your Communication* (II)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Be tolerant with one another and forgive one another whenever any of you has a complaint against someone else. You must forgive one another just as the Lord has forgiven you."* (1 Colosians 3:13 (GNB))"
_Bible Insight:_
4. Forgive in the same way the Lord has forgiven us.
So often we only want to forgive if the other person has forgiven us. We hold a lack of forgiveness over others because we don’t want them to get away with anything. But, I need to be reminded of the way the Lord has forgiven me. I need to remember that He doesn’t forgive me not because I deserve it or did anything to earn it.
Rather, God’s forgiveness is unconditional. A Christ-like forgiveness goes first and doesn’t wait for the other person to seek forgiveness first. I acted like an eight-year-old one weekend as I waited for my kids to apologize to me before I apologized and sought forgiveness from them.
5. Remember how number 1-4 happen in the first place.
Last, but certainly not least, remember how you do these things. You do them as one who is chosen, holy, and dearly loved. This passage from Paul is not just a to-do list. We’re unable to do these things on our own apart from God’s grace and His Spirit (John 15:5). We wear humility, treat others with compassion, and forgive others because we’re God’s chosen ones, holy and dearly loved.
_MEDITATION:_
*"REMEMBER: 1. Put on humility. It looks good on everyone. 2. Try on some compassion, kindness, and gentleness. 3. Remember to be patient with everyone."*

*DAILY DEW 22ND/FEBRUARY/2022*
*Ways to Improve Your Communication*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"You are the people of God; he loved you and chose you for his own. So then, you must clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience"* (1 Colosians 3:12 (GNB))
_Bible Insight:_
Today I write as someone in the trenches with you.
How can we speak to each other in a more loving tone?
What do you do when you know you need to ask for forgiveness, but you just don’t want to?
Why can’t others see things the way I see them?
We can learn a few lessons from Paul’s words in Colossians 3:12-13
1. Put on humility. It looks good on everyone.
Some of us look good in certain outfits, but not so good in others. Some might like bright colors and others dark colors. But, one thing is for certain – we all look good when we wear humility. James 4:6b says, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.†I don’t know about you, but I don’t want God to ‘resist me.’
2. Try on some compassion, kindness, and gentleness.
Too many times I did not love my wife and kids with a spirit of compassion, kindness, or gentleness. In fact, I lived as if I tore those garments off and instead put on harshness, anger, and a critical spirit.
It’s the kindness of the Lord that leads us to repentance (Romans 2:4). Be kind to one another.
3. Remember to be patient with everyone.
Paul tells his readers to put on patience. Doesn’t he know I don’t have the time for that (pun intended)? In 1 Thessalonians 5:14, Paul writes, “And we exhort you, brothers and sisters: warn those who are idle, comfort the discouraged, help the weak, be patient with everyone.†Sometimes we warn, other times we comfort, and sometimes we help. But, we’re always to be patient, with everyone.
_MEDITATION:_
*"Be tolerant with one another and forgive one another whenever any of you has a complaint against someone else. You must forgive one another just as the Lord has forgiven you."* (1 Colosians 3:13 (GNB))

*Making Your Marriage Less Complicated*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"You have been put to no test but such as is common to man: and God is true, who will not let any test come on you which you are not able to undergo; but he will make with the test a way out of it, so that you may be able to go through it."* (1 Corinthians 10:13 (BBR))
_Bible Insight:_
The only way to avoid the complications of relationships is to have none. We human beings need each other, so God created us with the capacity to love, to have friends, to get married, and to live in community with each other. But, as Facebook would attest, many of us would simply say of our closest relationships in life, “It’s complicated.â€
My own marriage illustrates this well. When Angie and I married back in 1997, we were 19 and assumed life together would be fairly smooth sailing. A decade in, we were discovering and doing battle with the monsters lurking within us (especially me). Things got…well, it’s complicated.
What saved us? I attribute the turnaround to at least five factors.
1.Redemption: Jesus died to redeem and heal us from sin and his Holy Spirit finds ways to actively draw our hearts back in line with his. It’s his power that heals.
2. Grace: My wife made repeated decisions to show grace and extend love to a sometimes unlovable, undeserving husband. She’s amazing!
3. Talk!: We both decided not to walk out, not to give up, and to pray desperately and repeatedly that God would change each of us according to his will.
4. Small Group: Our small group at Church taught us about opening up, getting real, and struggling in community with others.
_MEDITATION:_
*"5. Nobody’s Perfect: Our Church family taught us that nobody’s perfect, we’re all broken, and there is always hope when God’s amazing grace invades our hearts and our circumstances."*

*Learning The Habit of Evangelism* (II)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God."* (Colossians 4:12 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Habits are developed through constant practice and habits are lost with no practice. One of the areas we must intentionally develop into a habit is the practice of evangelism through prayer. Evangelism through prayer goes hand in hand with any other form of evangelism.
In our bid to obey the great commission, we must remember that to obey the "Go" command, must also mean to go forward in prayers for souls and the lost or immature in Christ. Indeed, *"You must go forward on your knees."* in the words of Hudson Taylor
How do we do this? How do we form the habit of evangelising through praying? Make a list of souls you must pray over daily. This list will include those who aren't saved from your family and friends. Then also include neighbors, leaders in government and evangelism contacts that needs praying for.
How else do you form this habit? In order to always keep your heart ready for evangelism through praying, ensure you make yourself AVAILABLE FOR every opportunity to go out for evangelism, either as a group, church or individually. Every time you go out for evangelism, both before the exercise, during and afterwards, prayer is the vital manure that helps the witnessing yield the needed growth and results.
Remember, NO GODLY HABIT IS PERMANENT. PRACTICE! PRACTICE!! PRACTICE!!!
_MEDITATION:_
*"The way you store up treasure in Heaven is by investing in getting people there."*
- Rick Warren.

*DAILY DEW 19TH/FEBRUARY/2022*
*Learning The Habit of Evangelism*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people."* (Matthew 9:35 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Habits are developed through constant practice and habits are lost with no practice.
In 2013, after a few months of not preaching in buses, I decided to do so again. I got into the first bus and couldn't utter a word till we reached the last bus stop. Unbelievable! What just happened?
I got into a second bus, and still didn't utter a word till we reached the last bus stop. Then a third bus, then another round of silence. I went back home totally amazed.
I set out later that day and I began to preach again in buses.
NO GODLY HABIT IS PERMANENT. PRACTICE! PRACTICE!! PRACTICE!!!
_MEDITATION:_
*"And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned."* (Mark 16:15-16 (KJV))
