*DAILY DEW 24/MAY/2022* *THE NECESSITY OF HUNGER* (III) _Key Bible Text:_ *“I long, yes, I faint with longing to enter the courts of the Lord. With my whole being, body and soul, I will shout joyfully to the living God."* (Psalms 84:2 (NLT)) _Bible Insight:_ How hungry you are for God reveals itself in how hungry you are for fellowship with Him in word study and prayers. You are not hungry if you are not fond of consciously seeking times of intimacy with the Word and in prayers! This conscious savouring of the Word and prayer makes your Spirit line up with God's will (God's word), and your body quickened to obey the Spirit. Take Jesus at the garden of Gethsemane for instance. By spending time in prayers, Jesus could get His will to line up with God's will, and in that process His body became empowered to go all the way to the cross! *_And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him._* (Luke 22:41-43 (KJV)) Hungry Christians seek for every opportunity to enter deeper sessions of prayers and deeper reflections of the word. Spending times in corporate prayers in church, can jump start you to go back home, and repeat the process all by yourself. Hungry believers, like bereans, make extra time to study the Word. *DAILY DEW 23/MAY/2022* *THE NECESSITY OF HUNGER* (II) _Key Bible Text:_ *“Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh."* (Luke 6:21 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ Jesus recognized the place of being hungry for righteousness. He called them blessed. If just simply being hungry for righteousness is considered blessedness by Jesus, it means to NOT be hungry for righteousness is not acceptable and not recommended. So the question is, DO YOU HUNGER FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS? To answer that question, it would require you understand what being hungry for righteousness means. To understand this, let's consider what Jesus answered John the Baptist when He was to be baptized but John protested at first! *_But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: FOR THUS IT BECOMETH US TO FULFIL ALL RIGHTEOUSNESS. Then he suffered him._* (Matthew 3:14-15 (KJV)) The response of Jesus shows that He was hungry for righteousness. He recognized that FULFILLING ALL righteousness was a necessity. Aside Jesus being born of the Holy Ghost by Mary, this hunger for righteousness, this consciousness of the NEED to fulfill all righteousness is KEY to him being able to lead a blameless and pure life. This is what being Hungry for righteousness means. It means being on the look out to do the things that are righteous. In this world of sin and lust, if you are NOT hungry for righteousness, you will always condone unrighteousness and you will always make excuses for falling into sin! _MEDITATION:_ *“How hungry are you for righteousness? (Matthew 5:6 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ Hunger is a vital requirement for all believers who will become who they have been recreated to be by virtue of their new birth! Every believer has a duty to desire serious hunger for their spiritual growth. In this series, we shall review some of the teachings that points to the necessity of hunger for kingdom high flyers! No kingdom high flyer is ever made by just being casual and normal! Lack of hunger is sign of spiritual dullness and lukewarmness. Non-hungry believers are easy targets for the devil's schemes and they are easily swayed by sins and weights that lead astray! How hungry you are for God and compliance with His word determines if you will be a vessel unto honour or a dishonorable vessel. There are two kinds of Christians. Those who are too hungry that can't be satisfied with the things of this world and those who are so full of the things of this world, and have no hunger for more of Jesus! *DAILY DEW 21/MAY/2022* *RELATIONSHIPS & CHOOSING A LIFE PARTNER* (VI) _Key Bible Text:_ *"Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man."* Colossians 4:6 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ SOME RED FLAGS to consider when considering a serious relationship or choice of a life partner:- 8. Loud-mouthed, not sensitive, & not considerate towards others? How do you talk to others? What attitude do you throw around? Are you sensitive about the feelings of others, especially those you don't like or take interest in or consider as a close friend? Being considerate only towards those you care about is not good enough. Are you the kind of partner or potential partner that is loquacious, insensitive and non accommodating? 9. The Purpose Factor. What do you want from life? What direction are you going in life? Do you know or have you discovered your God-given purpose? To be more convinced about your purpose, invest in books and prayers, and in the right circle of friends while keeping busy until you are certain of what direction God wants for you. Being idle or staying inactive or indecisive until you find your purpose may not help in finding your purpose. While praying and searching for your God given purpose, keep busy purposefully. 10. Unforgiveness & lies. Are you a habitual liar? Do you think lying is being smart? Are you that kind of partner? Do you wallow in forgiveness?! Are you quick to pick offense and when you do, do you take a longer time before you bring yourself to the point of forgiveness? What's your cool down or cool off rate after you have been offended and angered? How long do you stay before you begin to try to let go of anger, 24 or 48 hours or more? As a (potential) partner to a brother or sister out there, when you don't have a handle on these few mentioned factors and previous ones, you will make a poor choice of a partner. *DAILY DEW 20/MAY/2022* *RELATIONSHIPS & CHOOSING A LIFE PARTNER* (V) _Key Bible Text:_ *"Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God."* (Ephesians 5:21 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ SOME RED FLAGS to consider when considering a serious relationship or choice of a life partner:- 5. Why can't you say "sorry!"? Ego, pride, self righteousness, etc are some of the major reasons people can't say sorry! People who can't apologize are always thinking they have to be pleased. You must learn to apologize to build a happy home. Inability to say sorry is not a virtue. Proving stubborn and self righteous costs devil his place and he was thrown down to earth! If he had quickly pleaded with God and repented, perhaps there will be no devil today! Don't be like the devil! 6. Avoid generalizing negatively. We are easily tempted and easily fall into negative generalizations. "Ibos love money!"? Why not "Ibos are hard working"? "Yorubas love owambe", why not "Yorubas love family and friends gatherings"? "Hausas are backward and heartless" Why not "Hausa's are strategic and futuristic"? All men are not the same! All women are not the same! Not all children of these days lack respect! Accepting Stereotypes and generalizations is wrong! A bad fruit does not condemn all other fruits from the same tree! Take time to study individuals and don't fall for lazy generalizations! 7. Does your proposed partner have a spiritual head over him/her? Does s/he listen to someone? Is s/he a lone ranger? Self made conscious and answer to no one? Partners who can't submit to any authority or mentor figure is a real challenge because by the nature of life, no one is ordained to be spiritually headless! Find out who he or she regards. In fact, take it a step further, discuss in advance about one or more neutral and mature persons to be like your internal appeal court, where you take hard, prolonged or sensitive issues to, for more guided resolution. _MEDITATION:_ *“A great marriage is not when the ‘perfect couple’ come together.
