*DAILY DEW 19TH/FEBRUARY/2022* *Learning The Habit of Evangelism* _Key Bible Text:_ *"And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people."* (Matthew 9:35 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ Habits are developed through constant practice and habits are lost with no practice. In 2013, after a few months of not preaching in buses, I decided to do so again. I got into the first bus and couldn't utter a word till we reached the last bus stop. Unbelievable! What just happened? I got into a second bus, and still didn't utter a word till we reached the last bus stop. Then a third bus, then another round of silence. I went back home totally amazed. I set out later that day and I began to preach again in buses. NO GODLY HABIT IS PERMANENT. PRACTICE! PRACTICE!! *DAILY DEW 18TH/FEBRUARY/2022* *Communication in Marriage* _Key Bible Text:_ *"MY DEAR BROTHERS AND SISTERS, TAKE NOTE OF THIS: EVERYONE SHOULD BE QUICK TO LISTEN, SLOW TO SPEAK AND SLOW TO BECOME ANGRY"* (JAMES 1:19 (NIV)) _Bible Insight:_ Angie and I talk to a lot of couples about communication in marriage, and one of the most common problems we encounter is the communication conundrum. Spouses really struggle to know how to articulate themselves as well as how to understand each other. Nearly two thousand years ago, James, the half-brother of Jesus and apostolic leader of the early Jerusalem church, gave us the ultimate plan for better communication (including communication in marriage) and understanding in any context, and it’s made up of three simple phrases. Take a moment to imagine how your closest relationships would change for the better if you developed these three habits: 1. Listen attentively before thinking of your response. 2. Speak only after fully thinking your words through. 3. Slow down the process of frustration. Ultimately, what James is challenging us to do is to handle our emotions in a holy, healthy way. *DAILY DEW 17TH/FEBRUARY/2022* *The Secret of Effortless Praying* _Key Bible Text:_ *"Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer"* (Romans 12:12 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ Don't try to pray for four hours, 'fall in love' with God. Become His friend. In secondary school I read in one of Ben Carson's books how when he worked in a different place from his wife, they could speak on the phone for 6 straight hours. There were no mobile phones then. I said to myself six hours? I could not imagine that kind of jobless joblessness! Only a few years later, in the university; I would stay up till 4 or 5 am every night talking to friends, for consecutive nights. It was called free night call. To all the children here, that was before the days of whatsapp and data calls. I did those 6 hours like it was nothing and would get to class in the morning, tired. So become God's friend. And prayer will be like breathing. It is not enough to be His child...Yes, permit me to say it again...It is not enough to be His child. Become his friend too. (He is already yours) And anyone whose heart touches the Father's becomes a live prayer stream. No buffering. The signal of His 'heart beat' will be so strong, you would barely be able to contain or sustain it without laughing, weeping, rejoicing, groaning, and deep heavy glorious silence; that is, apart from words: in known or unknown tongues. *DAILY DEW 16TH/FEBRUARY/2022* *The Gospel Simplified* _Key Bible Text:_ *"Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain."* (1 Corinthians 15:1-2 (NIV)) _Bible Insight:_ Honestly, the way some people read the Bible, you will begin to appreciate why English is compulsory throughout school. From the same book of great sense o, brothers will just be teaching great nonsense. It is painful. Not once in Acts did the Apostles preach the gospel as "God loves you". Go check. What they always said, was *"Jesus died for you and God raised Him up."* • There is the only way to spell God's love - THE CROSS. All other preaching is out of context. *DAILY DEW 15TH/FEBRUARY/2022* *The Bible: The Guide to Christ* _Key Bible Text:_ *"You have your heads in your Bibles constantly because you think you'll find eternal life there. But you miss the forest for the trees. These Scriptures are all about me (JESUS Christ)!."* (John 5:39 (The Message)) _Bible Insight:_ Desire: I want to read my bible. Plan: I'll read through the book of Acts today. Discipline: Picks up bible and flips to Acts. Gets tired at chapter 2. Gets up to stretch, sits back and continues to read. Feels sleepy at chapter 7, gets up again, sprinkles water on his face, sits back to continue to read. At chapter 14, sees something remarkable that he's never seen like that before! Keeps reading with much curiosity. Gets to chapter 20 and feels sleepy again. Gets a gum to chew to stay alert. Reads till the end. *** In the matter of reading your Bible, always remember this: It isn't sin alone that hinders spiritual growth. Watch those legitimate things that fight against your attention towards spiritual things and learn to put them in their proper place. God first! When He comes first, nothing else can distract you or hinder growth. If you are praying that God should make you to be like Christ, or that you want to draw closer to God, remember: From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible has a central message: God's plan of Redemption accomplished in Christ. If you miss this, the bible remains a closed book, even a mystery. Christ is the Light of the Scriptures! Your prayer to be closer to God, or to be more like Christ, is only answered as you discipline yourself to be consistent with your personal Bible reading and studying scriptures. Selah! _MEDITATION:_ *You said you will study your bible and pray everyday but you missed a day or two and you gave up. A lot has been said about consistency but do you know that consistency is also about CONTINUING even when you fail sometimes? Learn to CONTINUE from where you STOPPED.
