*DAILY DEW 20/APRIL/2022* *PUTTING EASTER INTO PERSPECTIVE* (III) _Key Bible Text:_ *"The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you."* (Romans 8:11 (NLT)) _Bible Insight:_ There are a number of things the power of resurrection actually means when put in perspective. Let's begin from the literal meaning of Romans 8:11: *"The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you."* This means that the Holy Spirit can give life to our mortal bodies. Our mortal bodies are bound to go down either by breaking down health wise or by dying completely. The life giving ministry of the Holy Spirit includes making lifeless bodies come back to life. That's a literal resurrection. That's one key function or dimension of the power of resurrection. Matthew 10:8 (KJV) *"Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give."* The scope of work that Jesus handed over to the one who believes, includes raising the dead. That's possible only because of the power of resurrection. We should never assume that this dimension of the Holy Spirit's resurrection power is a thing of the past. *DAILY DEW 19/APRIL/2022* *PUTTING EASTER INTO PERSPECTIVE* (II) _Key Bible Text:_ *"All I want is to know Christ and the power that raised him to life. I want to suffer and die as he did, so that somehow I also may be raised to life."* (Philippians 3:10-11 (CEV)) _Bible Insight:_ The power of Jesus' resurrection was profoundly expressed by the evidence of the empty tomb, and the appearance of angels gallantly seated on the tomb, declaring:- *"And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you."* -- Matthew 28:5-7 (KJV) If Paul the Apostle was determined to know Christ and the power that raised Christ from the dead, we would never make spiritual maturity unless and until we do likewise. However, the more important point is that there is need NOT only to know Jesus but to KNOW the power of His resurrection. To belong to Christ without an understanding and experience of the resurrection power is to live a substandard Christian life. *DAILY DEW 17/APRIL/2022* *Harsh Ordinances* _Key Bible Text:_ *"For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven."* (Matthew 5:20) _Bible Insight:_ The teaching of Jesus in Matthew 5, 6 & 7 is arguably the greatest of all his teachings. So much that it is recorded in the last verse of Matthew 7:28 & 29 that the people marveled because He spoke as one with authority and not as the scribes. It's no gain say that these teachings hold ordinances that are not so easy to abide by as they are selfless and far from self seeking. Matthew 5:39 -45 says, *"But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for He maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust."* Interestingly Jesus was not found wanting in all the ordinances as His very life was a reflection of his teachings and more. *DAILY DEW 16/APRIL/2022* *Judas Cash-out? (Snippet on prophecies)* _Key Bible Text:_ *"Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation."* (2 Peter 1:20 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ When we read about the events that surround the birth of Christ, we are often tempted to believe that every occurrence were orchestrated in the Spirit and those at the time were acting by default. And this claims have quite some passages that can back them up such as Matthew 1:23-- "Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us." Likewise, Matthew 2:5,6, 16-- "And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet, And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel. Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men. Reading 2:17,18 further it says *"Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not. Finally, 2:23 says "And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene." There are several of these passages but let's build on this few; God is omnipresent, omnipotent etc..He does not live in time. He had seen in the future that a virgin would conceive the saviour, that Herod would kill the children under the ages of two and that one of the saviour's disciples would betray him...therefore he revealed those to the prophets of old..The later characters of this roles; Mary, Herod, Judas etc all acted on their own accords. Even when Jesus told Peter that he would deny him thrice before cockcrow it Was because Jesus had by Spirit seen how that Peter would deny him and not that Peter denied him to fulfil what Jesus said.
