*LEONARD RAVENHILL* (V)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence, And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth."* (Isaiah 62:6-7 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
To such men as this the church owes a debt too heavy to pay. The curious thing is that
she seldom tries to pay him while he lives, but the next generation builds his sepulcher
and writes his biography, as if instinctively and awkwardly to discharge an obligation
the previous generation to a large extent ignored.
Those who know Leonard Ravenhill will recognize in him the religious specialist,
the man sent from God not to carry on the conventional work of the church, but to beard the priests of Baal on their own mountaintop, to shame the careless priest at the altar, to
face the false prophet and warn the people who are being led astray by him.
Such a man as this is not an easy companion. The professional evangelist who leaves
the wrought-up meeting as soon as it is over to hie him to the most expensive restaurant
to feast and crack jokes with his retainers will find this man something of an
embarrassment, for he cannot turn off the burden of the Holy Ghost as one would turn off
a faucet. He insists upon being a Christian all the time, everywhere; and again, that
marks him out as different.
Toward Leonard Ravenhill it is impossible to be neutral. His acquaintances are
divided pretty neatly into two classes, those who love and admire him out of all proportion and those who hate him with perfect hatred. And what is true of the man is
sure to be true of his books, of this book(Why Revival Tarries). The reader will either close its pages to seek a
place of prayer or he will toss it away in anger, his heart closed to its warnings and
appeals.

*LEONARD RAVENHILL* (IV)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight."* (Matthew 3:1-3 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Great industrial concerns have in their employ men who are needed only when there is a
break-down somewhere. When something goes wrong with the machinery, these men
spring into action to locate and remove the trouble and get the machinery rolling again.
For these men a smoothly operating system has no interest. They are specialists
concerned with trouble and how to find and correct it.
In the kingdom of God things are not too different. God has always had His
specialists whose chief concern has been the moral breakdown, the decline in the spiritual health of the nation or the church. Such men were Elijah, Jeremiah, Malachi,
and others of their kind who appeared at critical moments in history to reprove, rebuke,
and exhort in the name of God and righteousness.
A thousand or ten thousand ordinary priests or pastors or teachers could labor quietly
almost unnoticed while the spiritual life of Israel or the church was normal. But let the
people of God go astray from the paths of truth, and immediately the specialist appeared
almost out of nowhere. His instinct for trouble brought him to the help of the Lord and of
Israel.
Such a man was likely to be drastic, radical, possibly at times violent, and the
curious crowd that gathered to watch him work soon branded him as extreme, fanatical,
negative. And in a sense they were right. He was single-minded, severe, fearless, and
these were the qualities the circumstances demanded. He shocked some, frightened
others, and alienated not a few, but he knew who had called him and what he was sent to
do. His ministry was geared to the emergency, and that fact marked him out as different,
a man apart.

*LEONARD RAVENHILL* (III)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"A good name is better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one's birth. It is better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end of all men; and the living will lay it to his heart. Sorrow is better than laughter: for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made better."* (Ecclesiastes 7:1-3 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Sitting at his bedside only days after the
stroke that was to take his life, I wrote these words:
Tribute to a Godly Man
I knew a man who gave his life
To see revival fire
He prayed by day, he prayed by night
to birth this one desire.
He had but one obsession
To see a glorious bride
Arrayed in spotless purity
Brought to her bridegroom’s side
His power while in the pulpit
Was matched by very few
And yet he loved the closet
There with the God he knew.
While others strove for man’s applause
For fortune and for fame
He had but one ambition
To exalt his Master’s name.
For eighty-seven years
He lived just for eternity
A man of faith and wisdom
And true humility.
He knew one day he’d have to stand
Before God’s judgment seat
And so he ran to win the prize
His mission to complete.
The fortune that he left behind
Was not in stocks or gold
But lives transformed and challenged—
Their stories yet untold.
There is no greater privilege
Than this that I have had
Of knowing this great man of God
And having him as Dad.

*INTERESTING DIALOGUES WITH CHRISTIANS*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father."* (John 14:12 (MSB))
_Bible Insight:_
_'Ever since I joined this church, my life has been transformed in such an unbelievable way!'_
Wow! That's awesome!
_'Ah, if I start we will not leave here. It was in this church I started my baking business and we now have like 20 branches across the state'._
Okay...interesting.
_'I found my husband here too in one of our marriage seminars. And we have been blessed with three children. I know I still have a long way to go in growing my business and family o, but I'm grateful for where we are at the moment.'_
Fantastic. *How many souls have you preached to about Christ this year?* _'To be honest, I can't remember when last I preached, my brother'_
Hmmm...It seems you are more focused on using Jesus to build your own empire rather than been used of Him to build His Kingdom.
_'It's not like that o! It's just that I'm not in the evangelism department in my church.'_
Really??? Evangelism department? What does that mean? I thought Jesus sent us all to preach Him?
_'Well, in my church there's a department for that. Not everyone can preach. Some of us are good with helping with decorations in church.'_
Wow. I can bet that you aren't that committed to bible study and intercessory prayers. It is those who have their minds on preaching the gospel that take such seriously. If all the transformation that has happened to you in church is all about this life, material things, possessions, and nothing about spiritual growth and serving Christ, you haven't started your journey to real transformation by the word of God.
There you have it...
_MEDITATION:_

*TEACH ME*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.
Exodus 33:13 NIV"* (1John.3.1 (MSB))
_Bible Insight:_
Something about this struck me:
Moses said yes, you called me by name and say that I have found favour with you but, it's not enough!_Read Vs 12_
Often times we just think that because God has called us into this purpose that everything don set. No, there is more to learn and if we only just go with what God had told us in the beginning we can never fully emerge.
Moses said, "that I may continue to find favour!" Ahhaaa! Do you understand? "I don't want you to get tired of using me, I want to know more so that I remain relevant in the kingdom." The Bible says, study to show yourself approved!
Even with God, you need to always advance in knowledge. So I urge you, like Moses, pray that you continue to enjoy God's favour and this can only be gotten when you surrender to His teachings and will.
Spend your time in the word and be transformed until He says, *"I talk with you as friend with friend!"*
_MEDITATION:_
*"I opened my mouth, and panted: for I longed for thy commandments. Look thou upon me, and be merciful unto me, as thou usest to do unto those that love thy name. Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me."* (Psalms 119:131-133 (KJV))
