*As You Wish*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Come near to God, and He will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners! Purify your hearts, you hypocrites! (James 4:8 (GNB))*
_Bible Insight:_
It is generally proven that one of the common ways to make a stranger relax and be friendly towards you, is to wear a smile and speak nicely. Smiles provokes smiles as laughter provoke laughter. A frowned face is not a friend of a smiling face. To be personally attractive to others, being jovial and expressive have been proven to be vital. To be attracted to others, smile more often and leave a nice comment or compliment unsolicited. Hard faced people find it hard to keep smiling friendly faces around.
Likewise, if we must grow close to God, we must go close to God. We don't expect to be close to God while we are busy with everyone and everything else. God is everywhere but only the one who consciously studies His word and observes His ways will feel the assurances and blessings of His presence. God is ever available to all, but He is never close to all. On the cross, God through Christ Jesus, did all the smiling and niceness there is to do towards unworthy mankind. Right now, only the wise ones who reciprocates God's overtures will receive His attention and intimate blessings.
It is as you wish. If you don't feel God, it is you who is far away. If you don't know God, it is you who is too busy for Him. If you can't see His finger in your affairs, it is you who have not invited Him. If He is not in your home, you're the one who locked Him out. Even now, He still knocks calmly at the door of your heart. If He is not in your hear, you are the one who never gave Him your heart to possess in the first place. God is ever ready. Are you ready? You are as close to God as you choose to be!
MEDITATION:
*_Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: (Hebrews 10:22-24 (KJV))_*

*DAILY DEW 19TH/MAY/2021*
*Is something missing?* (II)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus."* (Acts 4:29-30 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
At the gate of the temple called Beautiful, Peter and John were about to enter the Temple to pray when a lame man who sat at the gate begged for Arms. This led to the locus classicus case recorded in "Acts 3:6 (KJV)-Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk." The miracle that ensued actually caused a good trouble for Peter and John.
"And as they spake unto the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them, Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead. And they laid hands on them, and put them in hold unto the next day: for it was now eventide." Acts 4:1-3 (KJV)
Meanwhile, those who heard their preaching had already believed; about five thousand men. This angered the Sadducees and other religious leaders. However because of the healing that happened on the lame, they could not do anything against them save to warn and threaten them to not preach Jesus anymore. Of course, Peter and John replied that they would rather obey God than men.
Finally, after their released, they went to their brethren and held a powerful prayer meeting. The key request to God was that there would be more miracles, signs and wonders so that they can preach the word of God more boldly. This shows that notable miracles emboldens us to preach the Gospel more aggressively and without apology. If the Apostles asked for this, why shouldn't we?
MEDITATION:
*Saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it.* Acts 4:16 (KJV)

*Is something missing?*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Believers will be given the power to perform miracles: they will drive out demons in my name; they will speak in strange tongues; if they pick up snakes or drink any poison, they will not be harmed; they will place their hands on sick people, and these will get well."* (Mark 16:17-18 (GNB))
_Bible Insight:_
Paul would say, I speak as a human. Let me borrow that line. Speaking like a human, was Jesus pulling our legs when He laid down these signs for those who believe in Him as written down in Mark 16:17-18? I am just trying to understand and also hope to raise your interest in this direction again.
How come we are cool with believing in Jesus, and doing a whole lot of things except that some specific things he laid down as evidence of believing in Him doesn't seem to be the normal occurrence? Or is it in your own life? When you look at Mark 16:17-18 and weigh it against your life and those of friends who follow Jesus do you feel that something is missing?
Aside speaking in new tongues, are there other evidence of believing in Jesus that manifest (on a regular) in your life? If not, does it bother you that these doesn't seem to be so? Is the Word of God true and if it is true where is the gap or disconnect coming from? Or should we simply explain this seeming disconnect with some theories rather than take time to go on a personal quest of finding from the Holy Spirit what could be missing and how to recover same?
Come to think of it, James stated that "Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts." (James 4:3 (KJV)) However, what if the problem is that we have accepted the norm that excuses or does without these laid down evidence of believing? What if the problem is that we have grown accustomed to a second or third grade of Christianity that is inferior to the quality handed over to the first set of Apostles? What if?
MEDITATION:
*How different the world will be if only a majority of believers has Mark 16:17-18 running practically and constantly in their lives on the norm. How disturbing it is that most believers do not seem to notice and are seemingly excusing the situation*

*DAILY DEW 17TH/MAY/2021*
*The Supreme Task* (IV)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"And Jesus went on to say, "And so I tell you: make friends for yourselves with worldly wealth, so that when it gives out, you will be welcomed in the eternal home."* (Luke 16:9 (GNB))
_Bible Insight:_
Now let us look at another word in our motto, the word “supreme†“The supreme task of the Church is the evangelization of the worldâ€.
If world evangelization is our most important work, then when a missionary convention is held we should lay everything else aside and be present at every session, otherwise we are putting something else first, and we do not believe that it is more important than anything else. We show by our actions that we put missions second. {Probably last now}
In the second place, if world evangelization comes first, then we should concentrate on giving to missions and let others who do not have the vision, contribute to other things. There will always be plenty for the home (local) work, for there are always those who put the home (local) work first. The many worthwhile objects here at home will be cared for, since only the minority will be interested in the supreme task of the church.
If we put missions first, then we will give more to missions than to anything else. Otherwise something else takes first place. There are business men here and each one has his own business enterprise. Now there is one department in your business that you look upon as more important than any other department. Where then do you put most of your surplus money? Why, into that most important department, of course. Why do you do that? Because you want to develop the most important department of your business enterprise. So it is with missions.
MEDITATION:
*“If world evangelism is the most important work of the church, then we should put most of our money into this most important department." - Oswald J Smiths*

*DAILY DEW 16TH/MAY/2021*
*The Supreme Task* (III)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature."* (Mark 16:15 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Why is it that so many of us are local in our outlook? Why do we think only of ourselves? Is God more interested in these black people living here than He is in those yellow people living there? Is He more concerned about those brown people than He is about those who are white? Is it because we are so near-sighted that we do not have a world vision?
When I was leaving Jamaica, I stepped into a plane. First of all, I saw only the local surroundings. Then as I rose higher, I saw fields and farm houses. As I got higher still, I was able to see valleys and mountains in the distance. Finally, I could look down upon the entire Island of Jamaica, lying like a jewel in the bosom of the Caribbean; and if I could have gone high enough, I could have seen all the islands of the West Indies at a single glance.
God, from His vantage point, can look down upon an entire world and see every country, continent and island at the same time. If we could only get far away, we could see the world as Jesus saw it. But some of us have never travelled and we have never listened to those who have travelled.
Why is it that we think that we are the people and that we are more important than any of the other peoples of the world? Why should we be local in our outlook? Why should we think of ourselves as more important than any of the other peoples of the world? Why should God be more interested in us than in other nations?
Oh that He would give us a world vision, that we might work for the evangelization of the entire world, the world for which Christ died, and that we might see the world as He sees it.
MEDITATION:
*“FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16 (KJV)*
