*DAILY DEW 11/MAY/2023* *CALLED UNTO PEACE* (II) _Key Bible Text:_ *"And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."* (Luke 2:13-14 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ Will this "vawulence" (violence) generation understand this peace that angels sang about when Christ was born into this world of vice and devices? When Romans 3:17 says *"And the way of peace have they not known"* that perfectly describes the lots of this generation. Are you an exception? We can't truly follow Jesus and not be a people of Peace! To begin with, *"your feet ought to be shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace"* (Ephesians 6:15 (KJV) The gospel is a peace loving, peace pursuing, and peace creating Gospel. First, by the Gospel, we secure peace with God. By the Gospel, we learn to behave peacefully. So peace is the third item mentioned among the bunch that makes up the fruit of the Spirit. (Gal. 5:22) This peace is so important to God that we are told it is a mark of godly wisdom. So in James 3:17, we read *"But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, THEN PEACEABLE, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy."* This perfectly explains why Jesus would rather heal the man who came to arrest him, whom Peter cut off his ear. (Luke 22:51) It also explains why he would rather leave quietly a town that publicly refused to welcome him, than call down fire to rain judgment upon them as suggested by his disciples. *DAILY DEW 10/MAY/2023* *CALLED UNTO PEACE* _Key Bible Text:_ *"And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful."* (Colossians 3:15 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ PEACE must define every believer in Christ because Peace defines God. Peace is very important to God. Jesus himself is called the Prince of Peace. "Grace" & "love" enjoys so much popularity among many believers, but unto God, "grace" or "love" exist because God values peace. We won't know what God's love looks like, if not for his pursuit and passion for Peace. Little wonder, Jesus shed his blood in pursuit of peace between God and man! (Col. 1:20) #Selah Romans twice defined God, not only with Grace but "God of Peace" (Rom. 15:33 & 16:20). There are several other references that shows how God loves peace. Thus it makes perfect sense when Jesus taught us that *"Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God."* (Matthew 5:9 (KJV)) Like Jesus the begotten of the Father who sought to make peace between man and God, when we too value and pursue peace we register and establish ourselves as sons of God. We are living in a generation where violence is taken as sports and entertainment. 😥 Have you not noticed how without these: violence, revenge, treachery, betrayal, and such similar vices, we don't have best seller movies and highly rated shows!? *DAILY DEW 9/MAY/2023* *CALLED UNTO ETERNAL INHERITANCE* _Key Bible Text:_ *"And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance."* (Hebrews 9:15 (KJV) ) _Bible Insight:_ Jesus died to enable us receive the promise of eternal inheritance. This is one of the whys of our calling. This eternal inheritance begins with eternal life. It is worth more than gold. It the very essence of our Christianity. Aside this, there is nothing more spectacular about our faith. Thus, Paul cautions Timothy, and by extension, everyone who is to become an ardent believer and follower of Jesus:- *"Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses."* (1 Timothy 6:12 (KJV)) We must be conscious that we need not pay a price to be called of God, save by grace and our believing in Christ. However, haven been called, we are mandated to "lay hold on eternal life". It is a good reminder that what you are given, if you fail to receive and keep, you are not different from those who haven't been given in the first place. Peter understood this. Hence, when it was time to respond to Jesus, he answered wisely:- _Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life._ (John 6:67-68 (KJV)) In Titus 1:2 (KJV), Paul refers to it as a promise we "hope" for: *In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began* Again Jesus clearly stated that eternal life is one of the things waiting for those who follows Him diligently, in the life to come: *"And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; AND IN THE WORLD TO COME ETERNAL LIFE."* (Mark 10:29-30 (KJV)) But it all begins here and now because John 17:3 (KJV) says *"And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent."* Do you KNOW Jesus Christ? _MEDITATION:_ *You have been called to eternal life. *DAILY DEW 8/MAY/2023* *The Called Out Ones* _Key Bible Text:_ *"By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went."* (Hebrews 11:8 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ Yes, we answered the call of God. But we need to keep examining God's word to understand the full scope of His calling. As called out ones, we are like Abraham, living comfortably in his fathers house and among his people, until one day God came to call him out. Likewise, we WERE living as the rest of the world, unsaved, unregenerated, without God, without light, without life, and without purpose, until one day, God called us out. The church is God's called out ones. We are called out, out of sinful standards, out of ungodly passions, out of unclean lifestyles, out of worldly pursuits and worldly fashion. We are not called to remain with the world's ways of doing things but to come out of them. *"Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty."* (2 Corinthians 6:17-18 (KJV)) As we come out, we must have a new place in view. For Abraham, the scripture says *"For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God."* Hebrews 11:10 (KJV) This is actually what makes us God's people. We become dissatisfied and uncomfortable with this world. We become like brides, patiently but anxiously waiting for the groom. We are called out, and we are looking for God's city promised unto us. Hallelujah! When we show that we are called out of this world's standards, that we are truly dissatisfied here but looking for a better heavenly city, then and only then, is God proud to call us His own. *DAILY DEW 7/MAY/2023* *Rediscovering The Fruits Of the Spirit* _Key Bible Text:_ *"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law."* (Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV) _Bible Insight:_ No marriage seminar is greater than the gospel of Christ. In the gospel, you aren't just told how to behave; you are empowered to behave! The gospel builds in us the FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT. No marriage built on these conducts won't survive! People say, 'marry a kind person'. Well, kindness as God has it, is a fruit of the Spirit. Some say, 'marry a good man'. Goodness is part of the fruit of the Spirit! Whoooosh! Some say, 'marry someone who's patient and gentle'. Haha, gentleness and patience are in the package! Some say, 'marry someone who will be faithful'. Ah yes, faithfulness is a fruit of the Spirit too! Some believers still don't get this and that's why they neglect spiritual growth and are running after tips on how to love (no thanks to life coaches on the pulpits). The gospel builds love in our hearts in a way the world can never teach anyone. Believers have God's help already but they are chasing after self-help. My all time recommendation is - spiritual growth. It changes everything! We don't do patching things up It's real transformation! God working in us according to His will. *"You never hold any marriage seminar but our home has more fire just by listening to the truth of God's word, anxiety and fear is forever gone because we are being taught our realities in Christ. *DAILY DEW 6/MAY/2023* *CONNECTING WITH GOD* _Key Bible Text:_ *"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord."* (Colossians 3:16 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ The reason you struggle to connect in church on Sunday morning is that your Monday-Saturday is preoccupied with carnal hearings and ungodly conversations and engagements. You can't feel at home in an atmosphere where God is the subject and the Bible is the reference when your previous days and moments were spent engrossed with thoughts, talks, and actions that are clearly ungodly and unbiblical. And I don't mean terrible things when I speak of ungodliness, I just mean any activity that steals the thought of God from your soul including subtle fun and entertainment. That being said, many churches are now becoming very comfortable for those who have little or no interest in God. *DAILY DEW 5/MAY/2023* *Friends of God* _Key Bible Text:_ *"And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God."* (James 2:23 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ One of the high goals of our calling is to become friends of God. God also values and seeks friendship. Intimate friendship for that matter. Right from the garden of Eden, God did not relate with the man he made in His image as Boss and Servant (even though that too is a legitimate relationship that we have with God at the same time). However, it is clear that God enjoyed a friendship relationship with the people He created. In Genesis 3:8 God was coming on one of his (regular) visits to have an evening chat with Adam and Eve but alas mankind had lost the boldness to live and relate as friends with God. In Christ, the friendship goal was completely revisited and revived:- *"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you."* John 15:13-15 (KJV) It is totally okay to understand that we are still servants of God, but God will want us even more to relate as friends. The bedrock of friendship is intimacy. When Moses tasted this Intimacy of friendship, it would bring him both responsibilities and privileges. As a friend, Moses would talk God out of destroying the Isrealites and because he was such a dear friend, he stood tall in the art of intercession. Same with Abraham. He would intercede for Lot. And God would show them deeper things than the ordinary. To Abraham he revealed his plans to wipe out Sodom & Gomorrah (a highly classified operation) & with Moses he communed face to face and personally "changed it for" (vexed with) Miriam & Aaron because they dared to chide Moses rudely because of a purely private or family matter-- Moses' choice of a wife. Hmm mm. On the other hand, Moses' friendship meant God expected more from him. You can't be so close to God and be so slow to please God. To whom much is given, much is expected. He struck the rock twice rather than speak to the rock, and God was so disappointed that He personally pushed for his "immediate" replacement. _MEDITATION:_ *"For God, the goal is friendship. *DAILY DEW 4/MAY/2023* *Destroying The Works of The Devil* _Key Bible Text:_ *"Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied."* (1 Samuel 17:45 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ David had a simple task to do-- just deliver food to your siblings at the battle front and come back. However, he got there, delivered the food, and picked a far greater bigger task for himself-- to kill Goliath who had threatened a whole nation and its entire defense force for 40 days. What motivated David? David would not allow the devil or his minions (presented as the Philistines) to come mess up the people of God, and by extension the glory of God. Like David, and even far more, Jesus went about destroying the works of the devil, who has been threatening and messing up the lives of so many people. In one case He had to suspend the laws of sabbath, to heal a woman who the devil has kept bound for years. Luke 13:16 (KJV) captured his response:- *"And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?"* In closing, I share the views of my brother, David O. Alabi:- _"Many people live their lives in fear of the devil. He is the one pursuing, while they are on the run. He's the one making all the trouble, while they are wailing and mourning. But in Christ, the story is different._ _Jesus went about doing good, and HEALING ALL WHO WERE OPPRESSED OF THE DEVIL. He was the One chasing the devil, and not the other way round! He was searching everywhere to see how much trouble he could cause for the devil._ _How much trouble are you causing for Satan today? Oya go out in faith, preach the Word, heal the sick, cast out devils. *DAILY DEW 3/MAY/2023* *WALKING WORTHY OF THE CALL* _Key Bible Text:_ *"By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter"* (Hebrews 11:24 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ The refusal of Moses to be called and identified as the son of Pharaoh's daughter has two fold lessons you must never miss. You should be aware of the most obvious lesson. How Moses refused to enter a life of royalty and no doubt enjoyment and first class privileges. He shunned all that and embarked on a journey of identifying with supposed slaves who happened to be God's chosen people. Truly, If you don't have faith, you can't walk with God. The other lesson that is not so obvious, but also very brutally important is a lesson we pick only when we reverse the whole lesson. Here is what I mean: Moses scorned and walked unworthily of the call upon his life to be the son of Pharaoh's daughter. He was singled out by Pharaoh's daughter on a platter of gold. She could have raised an alarm and caused him to be killed the very first time she came across him, but, well, grace and divine providence prevailed. Be that as it may, Moses was to be the son or grandson of the King-- Pharaoh. He scorned it. He rubbished it. Whereas Moses was right in the eyes of God, to have done that, which is why we identify him today among the heroes of Faith in Hebrews 11, but many believers on the other hand, actually rubbish the grace and the call of God upon them. Do you actually walk worthy of your divine calling? Or you scorn the people of God, as Moses scorned the people of Egypt? Are you walking worthy of the Call of God upon your life? Reflect on this. _MEDITATION:_ *"I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. *DAILY DEW 2/MAY/2023* *CALLED UNTO SUFFERING* _Key Bible Text:_ *"But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also."* (Matthew 5:39 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ As expected, "suffering" is a subject we will rather not deal with. But interestingly scriptures gives us ample teachings and examples of christ like suffering, when we take a closer look. The "turn your cheek for another slap" rule is quite ridiculous. But I think Jesus meant business because He went on to explain from Matthew 5:39 through to 44 & 45 which I will like to share again: Matthew 5:44-45 (KJV): *"But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;"* Now He didn't stop there. He wanted us to know why we should do this: *"That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust."* Make no mistake about this. This is a form of "suffering" too. You are clearly told to not take a pound of your own flesh or repay evil for evil. We are told to do this so that we can truly earn the right time to be called the children of God. *"Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing."* 1 Peter 3:9 (KJV) And the best part is that, though on the one side it is suffering, on the other hand, it is a blessing. A blessing in disguise indeed. When we do this, refuse to repay evil for evil, even when a part of us may be screaming, "DO YOUR OWN BACK", we are inheriting a blessing, according to 1Peter 3:9. Hallelujah! This world will not make obeying such teachings easy on you. But understand that it was never easy on Jesus either. He almost begged God to let the cup of suffering pass over him but in the end, he preferred to please God, and do His will. He also prayed for the forgiveness of those who took part in bringing suffering on Him. What will you do? May God help us in Jesus name! Amen _MEDITATION:_ *"For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.
