*DAILY DEW 7/MARCH/2023* *The Tragedy of Knowledge Without Application* _Key Bible Text:_ *"But he who looks carefully into the faultless law, the [law] of liberty, and is faithful to it and perseveres in looking into it, being not a heedless listener who forgets but an active doer [who obeys], he shall be blessed in his doing (his life of obedience)."* (James 1:25 (Amplified)) _Bible Insight:_ In counselling Christian couples, I usually let them know that the flesh is complex, and that it's in the fruit of the Spirit they'll find simplicity. Most marriage issues are as a result of walking in the flesh, but people throw around fancy words to cover up. If you walk in the Spirit, you will be simple, and that simplicity is a priceless ingredient for building a solid home as believers. You can't walk in the Spirit and be selfish, unkind, unfaithful, bitter, full of wrath, unforgiving, impatient, bossy, etc. You can't be walking in the Spirit and be assaulting your spouse verbally or physically. [You can't be walking in the spirit and be claiming to be incompatible with your spouse]. These are traits ruining marriages in the church today. Insert fruit of the Spirit, you'll survive every challenge. *Hence, spiritual growth must never be ignored [especially begining from your single hood days ] That's how to have Christian homes.* Whenever you grab the mic to lead songs, everywhere catches fire. Whenever you're asked to give a short exhortation, the building would shake because you'd preach a storm! But as a husband, you're an afflicter in your home. As a wife, you're too contentious. In your neighbourhood, everyone knows you're not an easy fellow. You're vengeful, vindictive, and unforgiving. Your parents literally fear you as the lion that you are. Actually, we thank the Lord for using you mightily. God uses His own in spite of their flaws. *But the moment you mistake being used of God for an endorsement for your ways, you miss it completely.* Many judge more by the few minutes under the spotlight while ignoring the several hours away from it. *It seems we celebrate charisma above character; gift above fruits. Both must be present and intact. That's real growth. Otherwise, you're just an actor!* Many times, 'Christian marriages' fall apart because attitudes and behaviours that needed to be changed were being managed till the parties reached their limits. We aren't told to manage the works of the flesh; we are to PUT THEM OFF! *Telling people to accept you the way you are instead of growing up is nothing but identity crisis. You are a new man in Christ.* Go dust your bible and get busy with renewing your mind!
