*DAILY DEW 1/DECEMBER/2023* *FISHERMEN AND FISHERS OF MEN* (III) _Key Bible Text:_ *"He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep." (John 21:17 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ The greatest challenge of many fishermen, is wanting to be fishers of men while still giving priority to being fishermen! We may not all become 100 percent fishers men, but the primary priority must become to be fishing for men. We will constantly be caught between fishing men and being fishermen! It is like a tug of war. Like the seed among thorns, it will be said of most fishermen who are trying to be fishers of men: "And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful." (Mark 4:19 (KJV)) It all begins with the Word. When we have not the word we cannot even talk of feeding the Lord's sheep! If we must be fishers of men and not merely fishermen, we must dedicate our highest priority to God's word and the demonstration of the word. This is the secret to the success found by the fishers of men who have gone before us. *DAILY DEW 30/NOVEMBER/2023* *FISHERMEN AND FISHERS OF MEN* (II) _Key Bible Text:_ *"He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep."* (John 21:16 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ They caught nothing all night when they stepped out of the will of God, pursuing the goodies of life rather than the bounties of eternity! The difference was clear the moment Jesus came and said, *Throw your net out on the right side of the boat, and you will catch some.* All our struggles in the strength of might and in disobedience or flesh cannot exceed or even equal one singular act of obedience to His word! When we join in the grind, hustle and bustle of the world, without regard to seeking our Lord's voice or will, we will be "fishermen" but never "fishers of men" Fishers of men move by the revelation of and from the Word not by the information of and from the world! The world's information may inform us on how to become better fishermen but cannot transform us into fishers of men! We cannot become fishers of men, if we have not obeyed the word of the master--- "Feed my sheep!" He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs."* (John 21:15 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ Simon Peter said to the others, *I am going fishing.* *We will come with you,* they told him. So they went out in a boat, but all that night they did not catch a thing. As the sun was rising, Jesus stood at the water's edge, but the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. Then he asked them, *Young men, haven't you caught anything?* *Not a thing,* they answered. He said to them, *Throw your net out on the right side of the boat, and you will catch some.* So they threw the net out and could not pull it back in, because they had caught so many fish. Jesus came to be with the disciples, right in their disobience and return to being fishermen rather than fishers of men! He didn't come with a cain. He came with more fishes. So much more, than all their all night efforts could catch! In fact, they had caught nothing, all night! _MEDITATION:_ *Whatever we run after, other than what God has called us to do, ends up being frustrating, either in time or in eternity! *DAILY DEW 16/NOVEMBER/2023* *PRAYER--A LOVE LANGUAGE* (5) _Key Bible Text:_ *"And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?"* (Matthew 26:40 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ Love demands time, affection, care and selflessness. Prayer when viewed as a love language, compels consistency and regular, quality time. Quality does not necessarily mean quantity. However, quality means meaningful and impactful. The time you spend before a good relationship can be built must be significant and consistent. In the same manner, the way we pray effectively, is to create time and indulge or spend a considerable length of time. When Jesus needed prayer back up, he asked his disciple, Peter, *"What, could ye not watch with me one hour?"* This lends us an idea of what length of time Jesus considered fair at that time and in the circumstance. This does not mean praying less than an hour is not good enough, but it does show that praying an hour or more is good enough. However, even if we pray an hour but we are not consistent, it will still not bring about the goal-- to build a sweet fellowship and relationship with your heavenly Father. One that is strong enough to impact one's life and destiny. We must strive to build a praying habit both personally and corporately. Personally, work hard to raise a prayer pattern or structure for your life, a pattern that has both internal strength and external strength.
