*DAILY DEW 26/APRIL/2023* *Making Disciples* _Key Bible Text:_ *"And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also."* (2 Timothy 2:2 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ Going is just one part of the Great Commission—making disciples is the crux of Jesus’ directive. In missions, we need to be constantly reevaluating our motives. Why? Because we are always capable of losing perspective. For instance: measureless good has been accomplished through Christians who gather in conferences, camps, and trips to embrace God’s mandate to “go” to the nations. The problem is, sometimes we think that the command is only to go. When we overemphasize the command to “go,” we risk sending laborers who venture across the world for the wrong reasons. They might be driven by wanderlust, longing to experience the world, or perhaps even guilt, thinking they can win back God’s favor by simply moving to a new country. _MEDITATION:_ *"Our Lord commanded us to “go,” but the heart of the matter is that Jesus didn’t stop there. *DAILY DEW 25/APRIL/2023* *SHUT IT DOWN* _Key Bible Text:_ *"My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not. My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path"* (Proverbs 1:10, 15 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ I listened to a podcast, and I've never seen a man so vulnerable. He got married in 2021 I think, in a very beautiful ceremony. The kind that makes you 'Aww'. He said they went out to eat and a lady walked up to them and said she was attracted to both of them. He found it strange, but his wife wasn't shocked. For context, they are both believers in Christ. Long and short, they started having th**esomes. His curiosity heightened. He started and became addicted to watching porn. 8months into their marriage his wife was frustrated because he wanted her to be a porn star. He wanted what he was watching. They are getting divorced now. He took responsibility because he should have shut it down when that lady met them at dinner. I found this interesting because this is how addiction and destructive habits start. The Bible says "Don't give the devil a foothold." When we start tap dancing around habits that would destroy us, by the time they manifest full blown, its difficult to stop. So, shut it down! It's easy to open the door to these habits, but very difficult to shut. We all have those dark habits you may want to explore more of. But ask God to help you shut that desire down, because it may be pleasurable today, but the consequences are dire. Their marriage lasted about 9months. She left. He's now in therapy... *DAILY DEW 24/APRIL/2023* *Receiving the Teachings of Your Pastor (X)* _Key Bible Text:_ *"Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen."* (Matthew 28:20) _Bible Insight:_ Consider Jesus with His disciples: All their Christian education was from Jesus and they were to pass down the same without editing anything to the next generation. They were to observe and teach what their Pastor taught them, not what they heard on radio, watched on TV or read on Facebook. Consider Paul with Timothy: *"And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also."* (2 Timothy 2:2) All that Timothy had leant was from Paul and now he was to transmit exactly the same to others. Timothy was enjoined to remain within the boundaries of the curriculum he received from his Pastor and teach the same things to his disciples and followers. Consider Paul at the feet of Gamaliel: *"I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day."* (Acts 22:3) Paul was tutored by Gamaliel and not Gamaliels. This is not to say you can't learn anything from others. What I'm saying is your major source of learning and growing must be clear cut. _MEDITATION:_ *"If you hate your math teacher you'll fail mathematics. *DAILY DEW 23/APRIL/2023* *Receiving the Teachings of Your Pastor (IX)* _Key Bible Text:_ *"But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them"* (2 Timothy 3:14) _Bible Insight:_ Everyone cannot be your teacher. If you give your ears to all the voices out there you'll not grow and you'll be a confused person. The person(s) God is using to teach you must be valued and honored to maximize what you're learning. Stick to the person(s) the Lord sent to you and be committed to receiving all God has for you through him(them). A medical student that's alway loitering in engineering, law and statistics department will not know much about medicine and will likely not graduate. Stay where God sent you and feed well there. Give yourself wholly to the things you're learning. Seek to apply and walk in the light of all you're receiving from your Pastor(s). The purpose of learning is that you'll come to a place of conviction and assurance of the truth. This will take some effort on your part. It's not enough to just hear, you have to give yourself to its application and continue receiving and learning. John 10:27 [27]My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: Camp around the voice of your Pastor(s) and allow yourself to be led of God through his(their) teachings and instructions. Receiving instructions from multiple Pastors is a sure recipe for confusion and destruction. _MEDITATION:_ *"The food you really need for your healthy growth is primarily with your Pastor(s). There were other Rabbis apart from Jesus but His disciples were to hear his voice and follow Him.
