*THE CHURCH, DATING & CHOOSING A PARTNER*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord."* (Ephesians 5:19 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
There are unserious guys who start attending church when they are ready to settle down. The interesting thing is that there are also unserious ladies who do the same. My prayer is that they all either meet Jesus or satan should connect them together for marriage. We cover our innocent sisters and brothers. Amen! -- Adebowale Ibukun Tosin
****
You must also know that the church is many things, for many, but most especially it is a spiritual hospital. Some are responding to treatment and take their regular check up and spiritual medication seriously, with daily dosage of the word and prayer according to prescription.
Some others, are sadly, not responding to treatment, they scorn or shirk daily medication and some fail to attend to regular check up to begin with, only specializing in funerals, weddings, thanksgivings, and end of the year cross over services.
Don't be fooled to assume that every brother or sister in church is really there for the purpose of becoming more like Christ. Hence, the most important thing you need to be when seeking a marriage spouse is how to become a better version of yourself.
When you truly respond to treatment, and are becoming more like Christ, you will know the right persons who are also responding positively to treatment. It takes original to know an original because the deep ones will always attract the deep ones. (The deep calleth unto the deep)
_MEDITATION:_
*"Becoming the RIGHT partner is MORE important than CHOOSING the RIGHT partner! A goat cannot choose a sheep. A sheep cannot choose a goat. Selah"* -- EDJ

*PURPOSEFUL SINGING*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord."* (Ephesians 5:19 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
No matter how Christ-centred our songs are, I believe that building church/ministry on music apart from solid bible teaching and study is nothing but boosting dopamine levels.
Bible study is the basis for appreciating spiritual songs. We've seen many singing, 'Agbani la gba tan o' (He that saves completely) yet struggling to believe Christ saves to the uttermost (Hebrews 7:25).
Some are passionately singing, 'No guilt in life, no fear in death, this is the power of Christ in me', yet wallowing in guilt all their lives and are afraid of dying because of the fear of hell.
It takes a systematic teaching of God's word to appreciate the summaries in these lyrics, without which, songs that ought to edify and assure our hearts would only rile up our emotions.
And believe me, these musicians know what to play to make it look like everyone is edified. But it's when the music fades, we know those who truly understand the lyrics.
_MEDITATION:_
*"The correct teaching of the Word should give birth to solid scriptural songs. And at the same time, songs must also lead to further and deeper appreciation of sound biblical truth. It is supposed to be an "iron sharpening iron" kind of relationship between spiritual songs and spiritual teachings"* -- EDJ

*GOD'S FORGIVENESS* (II)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."* (Romans 8:1 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
God has provided forgiveness for you in Christ - yes you! Don't let satan push you far away from God through voices of condemnation. No matter what you've done, there is forgiveness available in Christ. The blood of Jesus cleanses from all sins!
"For God so loved the world..."
Not an offensive verse until we expand...The world = The good, the bad, and the ugly.
Further Expanded...Religious man...Prayerful man...Husband snatcher...Thieves and Robbers....Hoodlums....Murderers...Prostitutes...Betrayer...You can add to the list...
The law of the land may convict and sentence, But Jesus has come to redeem and save you. He came so that anyone of these listed and more will be saved.
It may be you or your family member or colleague at work. Christ has come to love you out of every lawlessness. No matter what you've done, His arms are widely opened for you now.
_MEDITATION:_
*"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."* (John 3:16 (KJV))

*GOD'S FORGIVENESS*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree. Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins."* (Acts 5:30-31 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
With one sentence, Christ paralysed the accusers of the woman caught in adultery: 'He who is without sin, let him cast the first stone'. They all walked away dropping their stones. People who were sitting in judgment over another had their own consciences judge them guilty. In that event, we see that what's prevalent in the world is hypocritical judgment; sinners judging sinners, but Christ came to heal sinners with the gift of no condemnation. By this, the sinner is empowered to go and sin no more! (JOHN 8:3-11).
The offer of God to everyone who repents/believes is FORGIVENESS of sins (Acts 2:38; Ephesians 1:7; Colossians 1:14). There is no gospel if this fact is unknown to the hearers. God has provided forgiveness in Christ and everyone can receive freely as they turn to God by faith in the finished work of Christ. Who are the believers? The forgiven ones!
The bible says Jesus hated lawlessness/sin (Hebrews 1:9). However, He was spitefully called the friend of sinners (Luke 7:34), by the religious rulers of His day but He took that as a compliment knowing that a doctor wouldn't be ashamed of being seen with the sick. He came to set us free from sin, and so He had to dwell with sinners to get the sin out of them.
_MEDITATION:_
*"Note the word 'friend'; He was in their midst as one who loved their souls. He was friendly, merciful & compassionate. Jesus, the hater of sin, and the friend of sinners. Know the difference!"*

*Where Are the Elijahs of God?* (IV)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench. And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The LORD, he is the God; the LORD, he is the God."* (1 Kings 18:38-39 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Later, Elijah’s prayer at Carmel was a masterpiece of concise praying. ‘‘Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the Lord God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again’’ (I Kings 18:37).
*E. M. Bounds is right in saying that short, powerful public prayers are the outcome of long secret intercession.* Elijah prayed, not for the destruction of the idolatrous priests, nor for thunderbolts from heaven to consume rebellious Israel, but that the glory of God and the power of God might be
revealed.
We try to help God out of difficulties. Remember how Abraham tried to do this, and to this day the earth is cursed with his folly because of Ishmael. On the other hand, Elijah made it as difficult as he could for the Lord. He wanted fire, but yet he soaked the sacrifice with water!
God loves such holy boldness in our prayers. ‘‘Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession’’ (Psalm 2:8)
Oh! my ministering brethren! Much of our praying is but giving God advice! Our praying is discolored with ambition, either for ourselves or for our denomination. Perish the thought! Our goal must be God alone. It is His honor that is sullied, His blessed Son who is ignored, His laws broken, His name profaned, His Book forgotten, His house made a circus of social efforts.
Does God ever need more patience with His people than when they are ‘‘praying’’? We tell Him what to do and how to do it. We pass judgments and make appreciations in our prayers. In short, we do everything except pray.
No Bible School can teach us this art. What Bible School has ‘‘Prayer’’ on its curriculum? The most important thing a man can study is the prayer part of the Book. But where is this taught?
_MEDITATION:_
*"Let us strip off the last bandage and declare that many of our presidents and teachers do not pray, shed no tears, know no travail. Can they teach what they do not know?"*
