(IX) _Key Bible Text:_ *"And Absalom her brother said unto her, Hath Amnon thy brother been with thee? but hold now thy peace, my sister: he is thy brother; regard not this thing. So Tamar remained desolate in her brother Absalom's house."* (2 Samuel 13:20 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ "Regard not this thing!", said Absalom, Tamar's brother. You would think he doesn't care or is just pacifying his sister. Meanwhile, it was all cover up as time would later reveal. Conversely, the very next verse reported an angry king and father who we didn't read or hear of any drastic action he took either to correct or discipline Amnon: 2 Samuel 13:21 (KJV) But when king David heard of all these things, he was very wroth. He was very angry. But we cant tell what else he did about it. Some of the things you are angry about, you need to let go of that anger. But for some others, you need to do something positive about the situation that is causing you anger. Even though Absalom said nothing to Amnon. He developed a deep hatred for him from that day. *DAILY DEW 26/FEBRUARY/2024* A Jonadab or A Jonathan. (VI) _Key Bible Text:_ *"Then Amnon hated her exceedingly, so that his hatred for her was greater than the love with which he had loved her. And Amnon said to her, Get up and get out!"* (2 Samuel 13:15 (The Amplified)) _Bible Insight:_ 2 Samuel 13:16 But she said, No! This great evil of sending me away is worse than what you did to me. But he would not listen to her. 2 Samuel 13:17 He called the servant who served him and said, Put this woman out of my presence now, and bolt the door after her! ... Jonadab planted a very evil seed in the heart of Amnon. Amnon foolishly welcomed it. Incubated (meditated) upon it in his heart. And proceeded to execute it to the letter. What a foolish act. One would think that with all the crazy desire, diligent seeking of means to achieve the desire, careful planning, and thorough execution to the letter, that Amnon would at least want to keep his "loot"! Sadly, the "(ab)use and dumb" syndrome did not start today. Tamar accepting her ugly fate, still reasoned with the unthinking man, to at least keep her and not chase her away, but the man refused. How easy it is for some guys, to chase a lady down like a hunt, woo her or force her, then turn around, break her heart, and simply use her or rather abuse her and dumb her like a trash? Such acts should never be seen as smart but as wicked and foolish. _MEDITATION:_ *The spirit of discernment will mean that you sieve the pieces of information you allow to settle in your heart. *DAILY DEW 25/FEBRUARY/2024* A Jonadab or A Jonathan. (V) _Key Bible Text:_ *"And when she brought them to him, he took hold of her and said, Come lie with me, my sister. She replied, No, my brother! Do not force and humble me, for no such thing should be done in Israel! Do not do this foolhardy, scandalous thing!"* (2 Samuel 13:11-12 (The Amplified)) _Bible Insight:_ 2 Samuel 13:10 Then Amnon said to Tamar, Bring the food here into the bedroom, so I may eat from your hand. So Tamar took the cakes she had made and brought them into the room to Amnon her brother. ..... The slightest sign of danger should be taken seriously whenever it comes to sexual immorality and sexual temptation. It never works to try to listen or to talk and reason when one is already caught at the heat of the moment. Even the bible does not advice prayer or talking or reasoning. The bible advise as follows: 1 Corinthians 6:18 (KJV) Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. 2 Timothy 2:22 (KJV) Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. The solution is to FLEE not to discuss or reason it out. Although in Tamar's case, by the time she realized what was going on, it was already too late. The lesson remains that one should never be too trusting to stay or be alone and privately with the opposite sex. Whether or not there was an evil plan that one can think of or suspect. _MEDITATION:_ *The spirit of discernment will mean that caution should be taken when dealing with the opposite sex especially when anything suggest holding private meetings in secluded areas. *DAILY DEW 24/FEBRUARY/2024* A Jonadab or A Jonathan. (IV) _Key Bible Text:_ *"She took the pan and emptied it out before him, but he refused to eat. And Amnon said, Send everyone out from me. So everyone went out from him."* (2 Samuel 13:9 (The Amplified)) _Bible Insight:_ 2 Samuel 13:6 So Amnon lay down and pretended to be sick; and when the king came to see him, Amnon said to the king, I pray you, let my sister Tamar come and make me a couple of cakes in my sight, that I may eat from her hand. 2 Samuel 13:7 Then David sent home and told Tamar, Go now to your brother Amnon's house and prepare food for him. 2 Samuel 13:8 So Tamar went to her brother Amnon's house, and he was in bed. And she took dough and kneaded it and made cakes in his sight and baked them. Everything is fine until you have the spirit of discernment. The lesson is that it takes the spirit of discernment to avoid being a victim in the plots of deceitful men. The King didn't dicern the mischief of his son. The sister also did not discern it. Ordinarily, we should not necessarily be in need to be wary of being decieved by one's son or by one's siblings. When your father comes to visit you, say, 'Have my sister Tamar come and prepare some supper for me here where I can watch her and she can feed me."* (2 Samuel 13:5 (The Message)) _Bible Insight:_ Some ideas only appear great at first, because you are not yet killed following it through. Some advice are like time bomb. Once you follow through to the end, you will explode in excitement at first, and "die" at the end in regret. I don't blame jonadabs as much as I blame those who foolishly swallow their high sounding nonsense ideas and advice. But supposing you are practicing the role of a Jonadab, what is your gain? Why mislead others and think you are being smart? If you must be a friend, be like a Jonathan or at least don't be a Jonadab.
