*DAILY DEW 11/APRIL/2024* *Spiritual Disciplines* (4) _Key Bible Text:_ *"My son, do not despise or shrink from the chastening of the Lord [His correction by punishment or by subjection to suffering or trial]; neither be weary of or impatient about or loathe or abhor His reproof, For whom the Lord loves He corrects, even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights."* Proverbs 3:11-12 (Amplified)) _Bible Insight:_ ....Neither be weary of or impatient about or loathe or abhor His reproof, For whom the Lord loves He corrects, even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights. God's punishment is not only physical or through challenges or trials. In the new testament, God does more of corrections by His word, and through the ministry of the Holy Spirit who drives godly sorrow and repentance. Take Peter for instance. He took the word of Jesus as a prior rebuke and felt great godly sorrow when he remembered the word of the master:- Mark 14:72 (KJV) And the second time the cock crew. And PETER CALLED TO MIND THE WORD THAT JESUS SAID UNTO HIM, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when HE THOUGHT thereon, he wept. God's word is designed to bring corrections and instructions unto righteousness. *DAILY DEW 10/APRIL/2024* *Spiritual Disciplines* (3) _Key Bible Text:_ *"My son, do not make your heart hard against the Lord's teaching; do not be made angry by his training: For to those who are dear to him the Lord says sharp words, and makes the son in whom he has delight undergo pain."* Proverbs 3:11-12 (BBE)) _Bible Insight:_ Do not make your HEART HARD against the Lord's teaching; do not be made ANGRY by his training: For to those who are dear to him the Lord says SHARP WORDS, and makes the son in whom he has delight UNDERGO PAIN. Think of Miriam, who in Exodus 15:20 (KJV) was called "the prophetess, the sister of Aaron". But in Numbers 12:1 (KJV) "Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman." This attracted God's severe correction and discipline. Numbers 12:9-10 (KJV) And the anger of the LORD was kindled against them; and he departed. And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous. God punished a prophetess. Even Moses himself had his share of discipline too when he struck the rock twice rather than speak to the rock as the Lord instructed. *DAILY DEW 7/APRIL/2024* *Honouring God* (3) _Key Bible Text:_ *"And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils, And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance."* Luke 8:2-3 (KJV) _Bible Insight:_ Proverbs 3:9-10 (KJV) Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine. You can give without loving God, pleasing God BUT you cannot Love & desire to please God and not be willing and able to GIVE YOUR SUBSTANCE unto the Lord and His cause. These women in Luke 8:2-3 MINISTERED, yes, ministered unto him (Jesus) of their substance! Let your susbtance also minister or serve the Lord. *DAILY DEW 6/APRIL/2024* *Honouring God* (2) _Key Bible Text:_ *"So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine."* Proverbs 3:10 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ Proverbs 3:9-10 (Amplified) Honor the Lord with your capital and sufficiency [from righteous labors] and with the firstfruits of all your income; So shall your storage places be filled with plenty, and your vats shall be overflowing with new wine. God's word is replete with instructions that proposes that giving to God or at the instance of God's word, provokes abundance as a result. Luke 6:38 (GNB) Give to others, and God will give to you. Indeed, you will receive a full measure, a generous helping, poured into your hands -- all that you can hold. The measure you use for others is the one that God will use for you.” So in honouring God, our substance is not left behind or excluded. Our giving must be done cheerfully and gladly. 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 (KJV) But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. *DAILY DEW 5/APRIL/2024* *Honouring God* _Key Bible Text:_ *"Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:"* Proverbs 3:9 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ To honour God is to love him, obey him, and please him. God loves to be sincerely and genuinely honoured. God detects and detests shallow honour that is born of hypocrisy and unfaithfulness. Isaiah 29:13-14 (Amplified Bible): And the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near Me with their mouth and honor Me with their lips but remove their hearts and minds far from Me, and their fear and reverence for Me are a commandment of men that is learned by repetition [without any thought as to the meaning], Therefore, behold! I will again do marvelous things with this people, marvelous and astonishing things; and the wisdom of their wise men will perish, and the understanding of their discerning men will vanish or be hidden. God demands we honour him with our minds, souls, spirit and bodies (strength). Thus adding our substance can be a sign of genuine honour but when even that is done without genuine obedience or regard, God is not pleased.
