*GUARDED SPEECH*
_Key Bible Text:_
*Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.* (Proverbs 4:24 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Proverbs 4:24 (CEV) Never tell lies or be deceitful in what you say.
Proverbs 4:24 (Amplified) Put away from you false and dishonest speech, and willful and contrary talk put far from you.
Proverbs 4:24 (ESV) Put away from you crooked speech, and put devious talk far from you.
Proverbs 4:24 (GNB) Never say anything that isn't true. Have nothing to do with lies and misleading words.
Proverbs 4:24 (NLT) Avoid all perverse talk; stay away from corrupt speech.
Again, you must guard your heart. And when you do, you will have a better control of your speech.
Our speech must be guarded. We cannot afford to become accustomed to saying things we don't mean, we don't believe, we don't really approve of, things that are not true.
What of promises and assurances we know we are not likely to keep? What about things you said primarily to lure others, and get them to do what you want without keeping to your own end of the bargain?
_MEDITATION:_
*Let your speech be guarded and seasoned with truth and love*

*GUARDED HEARTS* (2)
_Key Bible Text:_
*But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction: for he transgressed against the LORD his God, and went into the temple of the LORD to burn incense upon the altar of incense.* (2 Chronicles 26:16 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Your heart must be guarded at certain critical moments of life.
Some seasons are more likely to get your heart disposition into the wrong street or place.
One of such seasons, is when you have achieved some long awaited feat. Achievements come with accolades. Accolades come with a bloated sense of self importance. This is when your heart may slip off into pride. And you may never notice until it becomes late.
Another season to be wary of, is when you are down, and maybe suffered a setback. Moments like this pushes one's heart to go towards self defeating thoughts. Such moments can make one question God, get angry with God, lose one's mind, or generally become cynical and negative, or slip back into past habits one has repented of.
The third season to take note of, is when everything is "just there". This is when one can also stop being careful to check one's state of heart disposition.
When you think you are fine, because YOU think so, make sure your heart is not leading you on and misleading you.
_MEDITATION:_
*"Psalms 119:9, 11 (KJV) Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee."*

*GUARDED HEARTS*
_Key Bible Text:_
*Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.* (Proverbs 4:23 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Your heart must be guarded. You owe it a duty to yourself, your neighbours, your future, your generation, and your God, to guard your heart with all diligence.
Matthew 15:18-19 (CEV) But the words that come out of your mouth come from your heart. And they are what make you unfit to worship God. Out of your heart come evil thoughts, murder, unfaithfulness in marriage, vulgar deeds, stealing, telling lies, and insulting others.
As powerful as the tongue is, it is what the heart permits that comes from it. It is what the heart digests and accepts that comes from the tongue. The key of the tongue is the heart.
How do one guard one's heart?! 1. Check or correct the focus of your heart. If your affection is on things above, your focus will eventually regulate the culture you imbibe and the things you meditate on.
2. Make a habit of agreeing and believing God's words. This creates a pattern for your heart.
3. Make a habit of self Examination or heart examination. The heart is powerful and should never be underestimated. A consistent check to be sure we are in line with the word is paramount.
_MEDITATION:_
*"The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings."* (Jeremiah 17:9-10 (KJV))

*GOD'S WORDS* (3)
_Key Bible Text:_
*For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.* (Proverbs 4:22 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
God's words are medicinal. They have curative and preventing capacities. They make the user, healthy. God's words bring divine healing and divine health.
Those who are ill can be healed when they habitually use God's words.
Those who are not ill can remain healthy when they habitually use God's words.
The illness in question is both physical or medical and spiritual or emotional. One can be sick spiritually or sick physically/medically.
To live healthy in every sense, especially in the real sense, as far as God is concerned, become a user of God's words.
God's words are life enriching. They make life worth living, meaningful and eternally relevant.
God's words are the true yardstick for measuring a life well lived. God's words communicate the essence of life.
_MEDITATION:_
*"Are you a user of God's words? Those who use God's words live a more meaningful and impactful and healthy life."*

*GOD'S WORDS* (2)
_Key Bible Text:_
*My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.* (Proverbs 4:20-21 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Depart.
Keep.
Depart. We are not to let God's word depart from our eyes. This is a call to focusing on God's words. It calls for meditation. It calls for daily reading of the word. It calls for continuous thinking and application of the word.
When we choose to not DEPART from God's words, other things that are not in line with God's words, departs from us. Drawing near to God's words, never letting our eyes depart from God's words, actually forces habits, ways, ideas that are not in line with God's words, to depart from our lives.
Not departing from God's words, forces sin and unrighteousness to depart from us.
Keep. As we do not depart from God's words, we depart from sin. As we depart from sin and anything not pleasing to God, we are keeping God's words.
Keeping God's words equals departing from anything contrary to God's words.
_MEDITATION:_
*"If you are struggling to depart from a bad habit or sin, it is because you are departing from the word of God. Not departing from God's words, causes breaking away from unrighteousness"*
