*DAILY DEW 29/MARCH/2023* *PURPOSEFUL SINGING* _Key Bible Text:_ *"Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord."* (Ephesians 5:19 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ No matter how Christ-centred our songs are, I believe that building church/ministry on music apart from solid bible teaching and study is nothing but boosting dopamine levels. Bible study is the basis for appreciating spiritual songs. We've seen many singing, 'Agbani la gba tan o' (He that saves completely) yet struggling to believe Christ saves to the uttermost (Hebrews 7:25). Some are passionately singing, 'No guilt in life, no fear in death, this is the power of Christ in me', yet wallowing in guilt all their lives and are afraid of dying because of the fear of hell. It takes a systematic teaching of God's word to appreciate the summaries in these lyrics, without which, songs that ought to edify and assure our hearts would only rile up our emotions. And believe me, these musicians know what to play to make it look like everyone is edified. Don't let satan push you far away from God through voices of condemnation. No matter what you've done, there is forgiveness available in Christ. The blood of Jesus cleanses from all sins! "For God so loved the world..." Not an offensive verse until we expand...The world = The good, the bad, and the ugly. *DAILY DEW 27/MARCH/2023* *GOD'S FORGIVENESS* _Key Bible Text:_ *"The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree. Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins."* (Acts 5:30-31 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ With one sentence, Christ paralysed the accusers of the woman caught in adultery: 'He who is without sin, let him cast the first stone'. They all walked away dropping their stones. People who were sitting in judgment over another had their own consciences judge them guilty. In that event, we see that what's prevalent in the world is hypocritical judgment; sinners judging sinners, but Christ came to heal sinners with the gift of no condemnation. By this, the sinner is empowered to go and sin no more! (JOHN 8:3-11). The offer of God to everyone who repents/believes is FORGIVENESS of sins (Acts 2:38; Ephesians 1:7; Colossians 1:14). There is no gospel if this fact is unknown to the hearers. God has provided forgiveness in Christ and everyone can receive freely as they turn to God by faith in the finished work of Christ. Who are the believers? The forgiven ones! The bible says Jesus hated lawlessness/sin (Hebrews 1:9). However, He was spitefully called the friend of sinners (Luke 7:34), by the religious rulers of His day but He took that as a compliment knowing that a doctor wouldn't be ashamed of being seen with the sick. He came to set us free from sin, and so He had to dwell with sinners to get the sin out of them. _MEDITATION:_ *"Note the word 'friend'; He was in their midst as one who loved their souls. *DAILY DEW 14/MARCH/2023* *WORD & PRAYER DAILY DOSAGE!* _Key Bible Text:_ *"But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word."* (Acts 6:4 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ The state of the mind determines the direction of the body because the body simply obeys the instructions of the contents of the mind. Pay attention to your mind! Renew it daily! -- through the word! There's power in the Word of God. I stand to testify about this again. There's nobody God's word cannot totally change and transform! The problem is that many ignore it daily. It's an 'epidemic' in the body. Every believer has the Spirit but not every believer is filled or under the influence of the Spirit. Not every believer is walking in the Spirit. It takes the study of the word and prayers daily to be influenced by the Spirit! God's love found us at our worst, and it can sure keep us now. His love is steadfast and sure. He uses the instrument & instructions of His Word to keep us! If it works for one or two persons only, maybe it's a coincidence, but if it works for many, it's a proven method. God's word has a track record of changing lives. And we will shout about this forever. Study the Word. Pray. Sing Spiritual Songs. You can plug an earpiece and sing along too. This puts you in a state of being filled with the Spirit all day. Rinse and repeat! That's the labour that ALWAYS produces fruits! _MEDITATION:_ *"When there's no peace on earth, there is peace in Christ. *DAILY DEW 7/MARCH/2023* *The Tragedy of Knowledge Without Application* _Key Bible Text:_ *"But he who looks carefully into the faultless law, the [law] of liberty, and is faithful to it and perseveres in looking into it, being not a heedless listener who forgets but an active doer [who obeys], he shall be blessed in his doing (his life of obedience)."* (James 1:25 (Amplified)) _Bible Insight:_ In counselling Christian couples, I usually let them know that the flesh is complex, and that it's in the fruit of the Spirit they'll find simplicity. Most marriage issues are as a result of walking in the flesh, but people throw around fancy words to cover up. If you walk in the Spirit, you will be simple, and that simplicity is a priceless ingredient for building a solid home as believers. You can't walk in the Spirit and be selfish, unkind, unfaithful, bitter, full of wrath, unforgiving, impatient, bossy, etc. You can't be walking in the Spirit and be assaulting your spouse verbally or physically. [You can't be walking in the spirit and be claiming to be incompatible with your spouse]. These are traits ruining marriages in the church today. Insert fruit of the Spirit, you'll survive every challenge. *Hence, spiritual growth must never be ignored [especially begining from your single hood days ] That's how to have Christian homes.* Whenever you grab the mic to lead songs, everywhere catches fire. Whenever you're asked to give a short exhortation, the building would shake because you'd preach a storm! But as a husband, you're an afflicter in your home. As a wife, you're too contentious. In your neighbourhood, everyone knows you're not an easy fellow. You're vengeful, vindictive, and unforgiving. Your parents literally fear you as the lion that you are. Actually, we thank the Lord for using you mightily. God uses His own in spite of their flaws. *But the moment you mistake being used of God for an endorsement for your ways, you miss it completely.* Many judge more by the few minutes under the spotlight while ignoring the several hours away from it. *It seems we celebrate charisma above character; gift above fruits. Both must be present and intact. That's real growth. Otherwise, you're just an actor!* Many times, 'Christian marriages' fall apart because attitudes and behaviours that needed to be changed were being managed till the parties reached their limits. We aren't told to manage the works of the flesh; we are to PUT THEM OFF! *Telling people to accept you the way you are instead of growing up is nothing but identity crisis. You are a new man in Christ.* Go dust your bible and get busy with renewing your mind!
