*THE ROUTINE OF PRACTICE*
_Key Bible Text:_
*For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.* (Hebrews 5:13-14 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Let's see Amplified version's rendition of today's key text. I pray that something great and life changing will jump at you from reading this passage again and again.
Hebrews 5:13-14:
_[13]For everyone who continues to feed on milk is obviously inexperienced and unskilled in the doctrine of righteousness (of conformity to the divine will in purpose, thought, and action), for he is a mere infant [not able to talk yet]!_
_[14]But solid food is for full-grown men, for those whose senses and mental faculties are trained by practice to discriminate and distinguish between what is morally good and noble and what is evil and contrary either to divine or human law._
It has become a cliche: the saying that practice makes perfect. Practice involves routinely repeating certain processes or steps, over and over again. When we bring practice into the exercise of discerning what is right or wrong, judging based on the word of God, we are taking a more mature approach of things.
This is really what differentiates between those who have taken a liken of milk and those who deal with meats. Milk will always be relatively easy to digest compare to meat that may even contain bones.
How much have you trained your senses and mental faculties to distinguish and discriminate or decipher between the right or wrong? Or are usually too "It doesn't matter-ish" to care? Milk suckers always dismiss a lot of issues, thinking it does not matter. Meat chewers will take time to reflect, ponder, search the word, compare scripture to scripture, listen to pick the intent and spirit of the letter, just to arrive at a level of conviction and consecration.
Milk suckers can't be bothered. Such painstaking routine with such nit picking practice is too much to bear for them. Meat eaters take their time and are not in a hurry to not care to discern.
*MEDITATION:*
*Anyone who has to drink milk is still a child, without any experience in the matter of right and wrong. Solid food, on the other hand, is for adults, who through practice are able to distinguish between good and evil.* Hebrews 5:13-14 (GNB)

*REDISCOVERING THE WAY* (III)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"I appeal to you to be shepherds of the flock that God gave you and to take care of it willingly, as God wants you to, and not unwillingly. Do your work, not for mere pay, but from a real desire to serve."*
(1 Peter 5:2 (GNB))
_Bible Insight:_
Sometime in 2005, we invited a preacher to minister in our local church. He was highly recommended and so my Dad reached out to him. He spelled out what he wanted as honorarium. That was strange because up until that time, my Dad accepted invitations to preach without even thinking about honorarium. However, he agreed to his terms and made excuses for him.
On the last day of the meeting, the guest minister suddenly veered off the plan of the meeting and started raising funds. In his words, 'God led him to do that'. When the meeting was over, he was entertained and handed his honorarium which he earlier demanded. Guess what? He wasn't happy. Later that week, the person who recommended him called my Dad and told him that the minister complained bitterly. He said he raised money for the ministry and expected something extra as honorarium. Ah! My naive Dad, who thought he was really being led by the Spirit to raise support for the church, was so shocked.
A few years after, I got to find out that some ministers deliberately raise money in meetings they've been called to preach in just to have a share in the offering. What kind of motive is this? You even lie on the Holy Ghost just because of money?! While some are serving the Lord Jesus, others are only serving their belly. While some are in the ministry, others are simply in business. May we not be led astray by worldy appetites. Ministry is about impacting lives with the gospel. So simple!
And there are those who say they will never go to preach in places where the honorarium isn't juicy and fat. To those ones we say, ANATHEMA (away from us!).
*MEDITATION:*
*It is necessary to stop their talk, because they are upsetting whole families by teaching what they should not, and all for the shameful purpose of making money.* Titus 1:1 (GNB))

*HAVE YOU ASKED?*
_Key Bible Text:_
*Until now you have not asked for anything in my name; ask and you will receive, so that your happiness may be complete*
(John 16:24 (GNB))
_Bible Insight:_
I was at the IKOYI prison Magistrate Court that morning. It turned out that my matter wasn't going on! I & an officer of the complainant checked with the registrar it turns out that the matter was slated for the following week for trial. I saw a document that would help me! So I collected it to run some copies! My bill was 180 naira. I had a thousand naira note with me -- the small denominations on me, I was afraid to release as I knew I would need them later. But I thought it was too early, and I was the first customer she would attend to! So I was about using my church mind to give her the only set of smaller denominations with me, when I had a check in my spirit that said: "But have you asked?".
Immediately, I kept back the "change" with me -- thank God she didn't notice as she had been busy attending to other customers! So I gave her the 1000 naira note with me, and she searched out my balance for me -- all from her bag! Then the scripture came to mind: "Ask, and you shall receive!", "You do not receive because you do not ask!"
Pls don't assume it can't be done: have you asked? Have you prayed? Have you shared the challenge with a friend!?
There are several things we go through life thinking "I know it can't be done!" In fact, some have set their minds perpetually on the negative!
Never shy away from asking! Talk to God about that challenge! And you may also need to share with a friend! Learn to open up! Don't suffer* in silence!
MEDITATION:
*Ask, and you will receive; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks will receive, and anyone who seeks will find, and the door will be opened to those who knock.* (Matthew 7:7-8 (GNB))

*YOU HOLD THE KEY- STIR IT UP*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou STIR UP THE GIFT OF GOD, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."* (2 Timothy 1:6-7 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
I made a cup of tea with some honey added to it. When I tasted it, I couldn't realize or relish the taste of the things added to the tea. Then, I had to stir the tea for a while. Thereafter, the glory of the taste of the tea became apparent. In that moment, the above scripture pulled out from a corner of my spirit. The meaning of the scripture became crystal clear.
Until you stir up the gifts of God in your life, you will never taste the glory of the power of God. Until you stir up the grace that God had imputed in your life and calling, you will remain small and uneventful. Your life will be tasteless as far as your spiritual growth and greatness is concerned if you don't stir up the gifts of God in your life.
Stir up the gift of God in your life. The moment you were born again, God implanted certain gifts into your life with or without laying of hands. Some persons, have more gifting than others. However having the gift is not as important as stirring up the gift. A lot of believers achieve far below their God given capacity because they fail to stir up.
You stir up the gifts of God, by "shaking" yourself. To shake yourself is to apply yourself. You apply yourself to spiritual disciplines and practices as a matter of habit. When you don't habitually exercise your gifts, you will never maximize nor realize their purposes. Remember the servant with the one talent who buried it and never used it. He paid dearly for his negligence and laziness at the end.
*MEDITATION:*
*Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began* (2 Timothy 1:8-9 (KJV))

*FEAR NOT*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?†Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm."*
(Matthew 8:26 NIV)
_Bible Insight:_
There’s no question about it: the situations we face in life will rock our boats. For the disciples, it was storm that had them in a tizzy. For us, it could be a job situation, a financial problem, a health condition, or a relationship issue, among other complications.
There are, literally, hundreds of perfectly logical reasons to give in to fear.
The Bible, however, makes it amply clear that God doesn't intend for us to succumb to fear. In fact, you might have heard that the phrase “fear not†appears over 365 times in Scripture.
While we will undoubtedly face fearful situations in life, our response to fear is critical. We can’t avoid circumstances that rock our boat, but we can choose to combat it the right way.
So, what is the antidote of fear?
The answer is found in the words of Jesus in Mathew 8:26: “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?â€
The verse doesn’t say, “O you of little courage†or “little education,†but, “you of little faith.†(emphasis mine)
Clearly, we can either succumb to fear - or operate through faith.
Faith inspired the young shepherd boy, David, to defeat a famed war hero twice his size, while the rest of the Israelite army trembled in fear.
*Faith looks fear in the eye. Faith dictates to fear. Faith leaves no room, not even a foothold, for fear.*
MEDITATION:
*Are you holding on to fear? Know that you can step out of the boat in faith when you keep your eyes fixed on Jesus. Pray for that mustard-seed-sized faith that will grow with each step of obedience.*
