*DAILY DEW 31/MARCH/2023* *A DEEP CONNECTION WITH GOD* _Key Bible Text:_ *"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. Truly I tell you, they already have their full reward."* (Matthew 6:5) _Bible Insight:_ Since last night, my heart has been troubled, and I couldn't sleep. I can't help but wonder how Old Testament believers achieved such a deep connection with God without any difficulty. Their relationship with God was so effortless and cordial. They spoke, God heard, and God spoke to them in return. No spiritual acrobatics. No overly verbose prayers. They didn't even have access to the full presence of the Holy Spirit or the Bible, yet their relationship with God appears to have been deeper than what we experience today. Until this morning, my spirit was uneasy, craving answers. I yearned to know how they did it, how they achieved such a seamless connection with God. After dropping my child off at school, I returned to my study to seek answers. And in the most unexpected way, the Holy Spirit provided me with the answer I sought. He said, "They had a KISS relationship with God," where KISS stands for Keep It Spiritual and Simple. They had a simple and spiritual relationship with God. The Holy Spirit then directed me to John 4:24, which reads, "God is Spirit, and those who worship him must worship in Spirit and Truth." Truth in there means the sincere state of their hearts. The genuineness of their intent. The pureness of their motives. They were not perfect, but despite their imperfection, the Old Testament believers understood how to worship God through their Spirit (their heart) and not just their flesh. Their spiritual practices and prayers were more of an internal expression rather than an outward display. After the Holy Spirit dropped those words in my heart, Jesus' words in Matthew 6 made sense to me: "But when you pray, go into your inner room, shut your door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not babble on like pagans, for they think that by their many words they will be heard. The interesting thing is that there are also unserious ladies who do the same. My prayer is that they all either meet Jesus or satan should connect them together for marriage. Some are responding to treatment and take their regular check up and spiritual medication seriously, with daily dosage of the word and prayer according to prescription. Some others, are sadly, not responding to treatment, they scorn or shirk daily medication and some fail to attend to regular check up to begin with, only specializing in funerals, weddings, thanksgivings, and end of the year cross over services. Don't be fooled to assume that every brother or sister in church is really there for the purpose of becoming more like Christ. Hence, the most important thing you need to be when seeking a marriage spouse is how to become a better version of yourself. When you truly respond to treatment, and are becoming more like Christ, you will know the right persons who are also responding positively to treatment. It takes original to know an original because the deep ones will always attract the deep ones. *DAILY DEW 30/APRIL/2022* *BITTER PILLS FOR BETTER HEALTH* (II) _Key Bible Text:_ *"I obey your word instead of following a way that leads to trouble. You have been my teacher, and I won't reject your instructions. Your teachings are sweeter than honey. They give me understanding and make me hate all lies."* (Psalms 119:101-104 (CEV)) _Bible Insight:_ Why describe the Word as bitter when the Word describes Himself as sweeter than honey? The bitterness of the word does not lie in the Word but in the process of learning and doing the Word. The man who will find the Word sweeter than honey must be ready to deal with the place of labour in the Word and obedience to the Word. And these two are not necessarily sweet. Ours is a generation where so much contend for our attention. There are many inventions that our imaginations are always being entertained with. There are many thoughts, opinions and multiple access to diverse information. Even the system of education, is not setup to encourage, let alone, inspire people to care about the Word of God. The educational system is fast becoming a well structured high thing that exalt itself against the knowledge of God. Only those who are self trained in the Word will stand a chance to remain among God's remnants, the elect. Based on this background, the man who will come to know the Word as sweeter than honey is a man who will deal with the place of discipline and diligence in the Word. If we don't labour in the word (both in studying the Word and obeying the Word) we will never come to see or know the Sweetness of the Word. When we begin to find the labour in the Word engaging and interesting through consistency and determination, then we shall become whole, and well spiritually and otherwise. _MEDITATION:_ *"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. *DAILY DEW 29/APRIL/2022* *BITTER PILLS FOR BETTER HEALTH* _Key Bible Text:_ *"You were in serious trouble, but you prayed to the LORD, and he rescued you. By the power of his own word, he healed you and saved you from destruction."* (Psalms 107:19-20 (CEV)) _Bible Insight:_ I have never liked taking medicine. It's bitter and it has an uninviting smell. For this reason, I had to learn a lot about divine health and divine healing so as to avoid taking drugs as much as possible. Growing up, my parents made me to take medication whenever it becomes necessary. Either through swallowing garri (eba) or just eating something sweet or delicious afterwards. Either ways, I had to deal with the fact that there are bitter pills that makes for a better health. Taking this in a more deeper point of view, the word of God is like a bitter pill that is necessary for our wholeness and wellness. A lot of believers are yet to come to terms with the place of the word of God in their lives. They are always filled with various excuses as to why they never take the word more seriously and personally. Truth is, unfortunately, a lot of believers are neither whole nor well. This is not just in spiritual terms. The poor standard or level of Christianity in vogue today is as a direct consequence of believers failing to understand that the word of God is like a bitter pill, is nevertheless necessary for our growth, soundness, wellness and wholesomeness. Hence, many are sick and live a rather poor reflection of what Jesus came to establish on earth. Take a second look at your relationship with the Word of God? How intimate is it? How often do you frequent the Word? Has secular views beclouded your need for the word? How often do you seek counsel with an open Bible and on bended knees? Has google replaced the place of the Word in your life? Can you see that there is something bitter about the Word? Is it distasteful? Does it sight bring sleep to your eyes? Or do you get excited at the thought of having to spend time to study the word! _MEDITATION:_ *"Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses.
