*PENTECOST WITHOUT POWER?*
_Key Bible Text:_
*And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.* (Luke 24:49 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Since it was discovered that after His resurrection, Jesus remained on earth, appearing and disappearing for a space of 40 days before he finally ascended to heaven, many believers have figured that 40 days after we mark his death & resurrection, we should also mark the day of Pentecost, signaling the arrival of the Holy Ghost baptism on the disciples. This among many Pentecostals have given rise to "Pentecost Service", "Pentecost Week", "Pentecost Day" etc. However, the question that begs for attention is, was that why Jesus asked the pioneer disciples to tarry in Jerusalem? In other words, was it so that we would have another ceremonious day or week or event to add to the Christian calendar? I think there is more.
The idea is not that the practice is wrong. Not necessarily. However, the point of Pentecost must never be lost while we mark our calendars and special programs. For instance, when we call for our Pentecost week, what about the rest of the 51 weeks of the year? Should they be Pentecost-less? What's the real point of Pentecost? Should it be relegated to a week or should it be manifest in every service and in our daily living?
Here is the idea: Pentecost was a special day because the disciples received the enduement of power as promised by the Father. Power became literally manifest in the lives of the disciples. The focus of Pentecost is not about just receiving "the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues" No! The disciples did not only speak in tongues. They walked, lived and commanded literal power after the Holy Ghost came upon them! This is what we should seek after everyday of our lives and not just in a Pentecost Service -- Power!
MEDITATION:
*May God help us to individually ponder on the question: Where is the POWER?*

*DAILY DEW 16TH/MAY/2021*
*The Supreme Task* (III)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature."* (Mark 16:15 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Why is it that so many of us are local in our outlook? Why do we think only of ourselves? Is God more interested in these black people living here than He is in those yellow people living there? Is He more concerned about those brown people than He is about those who are white? Is it because we are so near-sighted that we do not have a world vision?
When I was leaving Jamaica, I stepped into a plane. First of all, I saw only the local surroundings. Then as I rose higher, I saw fields and farm houses. As I got higher still, I was able to see valleys and mountains in the distance. Finally, I could look down upon the entire Island of Jamaica, lying like a jewel in the bosom of the Caribbean; and if I could have gone high enough, I could have seen all the islands of the West Indies at a single glance.
God, from His vantage point, can look down upon an entire world and see every country, continent and island at the same time. If we could only get far away, we could see the world as Jesus saw it. But some of us have never travelled and we have never listened to those who have travelled.
Why is it that we think that we are the people and that we are more important than any of the other peoples of the world? Why should we be local in our outlook? Why should we think of ourselves as more important than any of the other peoples of the world? Why should God be more interested in us than in other nations?
Oh that He would give us a world vision, that we might work for the evangelization of the entire world, the world for which Christ died, and that we might see the world as He sees it.
MEDITATION:
*“FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16 (KJV)*
