(NLT) Proverbs 11:4 When God is angry, money won't help you. Obeying God is the only way to be saved from death. (CEV) Proverbs 11:4 is a classic comparison between riches and righteousness. Observe that both demands to be chased or pursued. Observe that both requires being intentional and determined. Observe that you cannot become rich just by chance nor do you become righteous accidentally. Proverbs 11:4 therefore presents the advantage of the pursuit of righteousness over the pursuit of riches. Righteousness will defend you in the day of God's Judgment. But riches as vital as it is on earth, will leave you totally helpless on the day of Judgment. *DAILY DEW 27/JULY/2024* *INTEGRITY* _Key Bible Text:_ * The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.* (Proverbs 11:3 (KJV)) _Bible Insight_ Proverbs 11:3 The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity. (NIV) Proverbs 11:3 Honesty guides good people; dishonesty destroys treacherous people. (NLT) Integrity is in short supply these days. Integrity can be described as an endangered habit or attribute. Many no longer think highly of it. Some of those who do, only pay lip service to it. They speak well of it but conveniently do the contrary. Yet, God who does not change, calls on the upright to be guided by integrity. And God still warns that dishonesty or lack of integrity will destroy. (NIV) Pursue humility. Eschew pride. Pride will lead to disgrace. It is just a matter of time. Wisdom comes from humility. Practice humility. Use every opportunity to master humility. Certain opportunities are more humility boosting than others. When you are maltreated or unjustly accused: Humility can be practiced by not taking it personal. Make excuses for the offender and take initiative to resolve the matter amicably. When you have been insulted: this is another perfect opportunity to handle the situation calmly and graciously.
