*DENY SELF--- NOT CHRIST*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples."* (Matthew 26:35 (KJV))
_Bible Insight_
ANOTHER hallmark of Christianity is NOT DENYING CHRIST BUT SELF!
A believer will always be placed among two options all through life-- deny self or deny Christ!
Unfortunately, you can't be free from this two-- you either obey one or the other.
When you deny self, you are obeying Christ.
When you obey or follow self or flesh, in a sense, you are denying Christ.
Peter indulged for a moment in the act of self preservation, so he thought. He distanced and disassociated himself from Christ because he was consumed with thoughts of fear of being arrested and dealt with as Christ was.
In the end, while confessing like Peter did (in Matthew 26:35) is actually good, it is not enough.
Peter told Jesus he would never deny him but Christ knowing all things, forwarned him. He should have been more careful.
Thank God! When Peter realized he had fallen into the betrayal Jesus foretold, he simply repented genuinely.
