*Your Body For His Glory* (II)

_Key Bible Text:_
*For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.*
(Romans 6:10-11 (KJV))

_Bible Insight:_

So, medical professionals treat masturbation as a natural part of human development, and some pastors have tried to give practical and biblical reasons to masturbate; so I have presented the pros and cons.

From a biblical perspective, however, I do not believe this approach pleases God, and I have heard and seen the problems this habit has brought to both singles and marrieds alike. Now, the Bible specifically forbids every act of sex outside a heterosexual marriage between two consenting adults: adultery, fornication, homosexuality, incest, bestiality and lust as immorality and sins; but does not specifically address masturbation or self-stimulation.

The FIRST godly problem with masturbation is that, for Christians, we must know that our bodies do not belong to us to do as we like. Our bodies are the temple of God. He lives in us. Some things like getting tattoos and vapping or smoking may not be explicitly called sins; but they are not convenient for believers. Our bodies belong to God first, and then to us. We belong to God. This is important. A person may decide that they do not belong to God, and that it becomes "okay" for them to do certain things; but once a person declares himself or herself a Christian, or a child of God; there are certain internal changes of heart and mind that makes us see our bodies differently.

The Bible specifically tells us to present our bodies to God and yield ourselves to Him as those alive from the dead. So, first and foremost - we are not looking for what is sin or what is not sin. We are looking for what glorifies God versus what does not glorify Him - whether it is in what we eat, or say, or clothe ourselves with, or use our body parts for. Some things may not be sinful in themselves, but if they do not glorify God; then they are useless to God's children.

*MEDITATION:*
*Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.* (Romans 6:12-13 (KJV))

_Key Bible Text:_
*Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.*
(1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

_Bible Insight:_

Masturbation is common among both men and women; but is commoner in men who seemingly get more easily excited by erotic thoughts and sites. It is used as a means of satisfying sexual urges and desires. Masturbation is the process of stimulating the genital organs of oneself for sexual pleasure.

Some medical and paramedical sources say it is healthy if done two to three times a week.

The advantages are said to be the following
1. gets rid of dead sperm; healthier sperm
2. improves blood flow
3. it is said to be a natural pain killer✨
4. improves sleep
5. no chances of pregnancy
6. no chances of sexually transmitted diseases

However, these sources also say that when it is practised for more than 7 times a week (more than once a day), it has become an addiction (masturbation addiction). Masturbation creates neuropsychological dependence where those involved in it behave like drug addicts. Some cannot go more than a few hours without it. Some even get to the point of using new techniques and devices to increase pleasure, which end up damaging the male reproductive organs.

*MEDITATION:*
So the problems include:
1. Addiction and dysfunction
2. Feelings of guilt
3. Heightened sexual urges
4. Relationship apathy
5. Weakened parasympathetic nerves, leading to ejaculatory problems, semen leakage.

_Key Bible Text:_
*Drop down, ye heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness: let the earth open, and let them bring forth salvation, and let righteousness spring up together; I the LORD have created it.*
(Isaiah 45:8 (KJV))

_Bible Insight:_

Lord, Nigeria is where you placed some of us to occupy till you return, any development that will hinder the progress of the Gospel and our ability to live for your glory, Lord arrest such development and deliver your people.

Every man or woman in leadership, that refuses to do justice, that sheds innocent blood and encourages insecurity, Lord, let them eat their own flesh and drink their own blood, unless they repent.

Any politician who insists on using deceit to win Elections, and who encourages political unrest & violence, Lord cause them to know sudden calamity unless the repent.

Lord, every Leader whom your mercy have uplifted but they have failed to represent you & do justice, Lord from tonight, render them restless until and unless they repent and do the needful.

Any politician who is in partnership (either by omission or commission) with bokoharam, unknown gunmen, bandits, kidnappers, and their likes, but they pretend they are fighting insecurity, Lord, Let sudden calamity befall them unless they repent.

Lord, in every way the church in Nigeria have failed to represent you, in every way, we have failed to do your will, we repent and we ask for your mercy.

Lord, every hidden plan to unleash bloodbath and disrupt political and economic development in all or any part of Nigeria, Lord, arrest the evil agenda and overrule it by your mercy.!

Lord, every leader in the political and religious space, failing to speak against injustice of the government either for fear or favor, Father, seize their peace and progress until and unless they repent and do the needful.

Lord, every citizen of Nigeria, whose nonchalance have contributed to the rot in this country, Lord awaken us in your mercy and cause all hands to be on deck.

Lord, in any way I have personally contributed to the problem of this country, I repent and ask for mercy to do the needful from henceforth.

Lord, let your kingdom agenda prevail in Nigeria. Lord, let your will be done in Nigeria as it is in heaven.

All these I ask, in Jesus name. Amen.

MEDITATION:
*For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: "I am the LORD; and there is none else. I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: I the LORD speak righteousness, I declare things that are right."* (Isaiah 45:18-19 (KJV))

*MY PRAYER FOR NIGERIA* (I)

_Key Bible Text:_
*For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth.*
(Isaiah 62:1 (KJV))

_Bible Insight:_

Lord, suffer the hands of those who beat the drums of war in Nigeria to fail in their attempts. 🙇🏽‍♂️

Those who refuse to let Nigeria prosper in peace, progress and unity, give them restlessness and send their peace on exile; cause them to have in abundance that evil which they wish the innocent.

Those who insist that they will make Nigeria remain as it is, so they can remain in power, Lord, disappoint them and disarm them!

Those who have taken it upon themselves, to use their privileged positions to suppress the rest, Lord deal with them with their own strategy; let them reap what they sow!

Those who trample upon the rights of others while holding rigidly to their own rights, Lord humble them suddenly and "change it for them" unless they repent.

Those who refuse to let peace reign in Nigeria, but they send their children/family out of the country, Father show them that you're the God of Justice and cause them to know sudden calamity unless they repent.

Those leaders who take advantage of the poor, and send them to do their dirty errands, but refuse to better the economy & education so that the helpless will remain helpless, Lord expose them and shame them, unless they repent!

All these I ask, in Jesus name. Amen.

MEDITATION:

*FRUITS BEFORE GIFTS*

_Key Bible Text:_

*FRUITS BEFORE GIFTS*

_Key Bible Text:_
*Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.*
(Matthew 7:22-23 (KJV))

_Bible Insight:_
As powerful and as needful as the gifts of the Holy Spirit are, we must understand that they must not be used as an excuse for the manifestation of fruits of the Spirit. To walk in the fruits of the Spirit is arguably more important in terms of how they help one align with the fullness of salvation. The place of gifts cannot be overemphasized with respect of service in the body of Christ.

Let's say Brother Emmanuel is a believer who is equipped with the gifts of Tongues and Healing, for instance, but hardly controls his anger and is short on patience. He will most likely still be very influential in the local assembly because of His healing gifts especially.

On the other hand, Sister Grace, a believer who is fully practiced and established in the nine fruits of the Spirit, without any gifts, may be quite respected but not as influential as Brother Emmanuel who has two gifts. Here is the problem, neither of these two believers are fully matured in Christ. In Christ, there is both fruits and gifts fully at work.

Hence, the goal is to strive to walk in the fruits of the Spirit even as we continue to seek the empowerment of the Holy Spirit that comes by the manifestation of the gifts. Whereas the fruits are compulsory for every believer and actually a sign of genuine salvation in Christ, the Gifts are distributed only at the discretion of the Holy Spirit and based on the hunger and thirst of individual believers.

MEDITATION:
*But the Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self-control. There is no law against such things as these.* (Galatians 5:22-23)

*WHY YOU NEED TO SHARE YOUR GRIEF WITH OTHERS*

_Key Bible Text:_
*Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.*
(Galatians 6:2 (NIV))

_Bible Insight:_
When facing trials, your emotional health needs to be a top priority. Feelings are neither good nor bad—they’re just emotions. But they need to be expressed appropriately to God and to a trusted friend. The Bible says, “Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2 NIV).

You don't have to share your feelings with everybody, but you do need to have one person you can confide in. Someone you can go to and say, "Hey, can I just tell you how I'm really feeling right now?" This is someone who will listen, share in your pain and frustration, and then help you move forward.

Paul gives a great example of sharing feelings instead of stuffing them in. He writes, *“My friends, I want you to know what a hard time we had in Asia. Our sufferings were so horrible and so unbearable that death seemed certain”* (2 Corinthians 1:8 CEV).

If Paul, the greatest Christian who ever lived other than Jesus Christ himself, could be gut-level honest about what he was going through, then we can, too.

MEDITATION:
*If you think there’s no one who needs you to be this kind of friend to them, ask God to help you become more aware of other people’s struggles.*

*PEOPLE NEED GRACE NOW MORE THAN EVER*

_Key Bible Text:_
*"But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”*
(James 4:6 (NIV))

_Bible Insight:_
To make it through crisis seasons or social unrest, you need to treat yourself and other people the way God treats you: with grace, mercy, and forgiveness.

Grace means that God always gives you what you need, not what you deserve. If you got what you deserved, you wouldn't even be here. “God gives us even more grace, as the Scripture says, ‘God is against the proud, but he gives grace to the humble’” (James 4:6 NCV).

God opposes the prideful and arrogant because they think they can do it all by themselves, apart from God. They don't think they need God or his grace. They approach life—even life in turmoil—with the mindset, “If it's to be, it's up to me.”

But when you’re humble and admit that you can’t make it through difficult situations on your own, God opens the floodgates of heaven. He pours out his grace. And he expects those who have been shown amazing grace to then show that grace to others.

Everyone has gone through tough times. To maintain your emotional health, you need to cut yourself some slack and do the same for others. People are feeling stressed, particularly the millions who are out of work and concerned about the future—maybe even about how they will make it to the next day. Be kind and gentle. Even the hardest people to love are fighting some kind of battle right now and need your grace.

This will often take a lot of humility. When tensions are high, it’s easier to return wrong for wrong, give a sharp answer, withhold the benefit of the doubt, and speak before listening.

Your neighbor needs your grace. Your children need your grace. The person you disagree with politically needs your grace. The world is on the defense, and there is nothing that will disarm people more than being given unexpected grace.

MEDITATION:
God has given you great grace. Go and extend that grace to others so they get a glimpse of what Jesus has done for them.

*POWER FOR SHOW OR FOR SERVICE?*

_Key Bible Text:_
*The Spirit's presence is shown in some way in each person for the good of all.* (1 Corinthians 12:7 (GNB))

_Bible Insight:_
This is probably the most singular reason revival tarries and power demonstration is on the decline. A lot of people today wants power to kill their neighbour or colleague who is making life difficult for them. A lot more want power as a sign that they have finally arrived. So they can now prove that they are anointed senior men of God. Well, power responds to those who are ready for service & for the good of all.

A heart of service is one of the key factors God looks out for in order to release His power in the life of a man. Service is the altar of sacrifice and selflessness. A lot of people want power so they can outshine their pastor or mentors. God is not committed to a desire that is not right before Him. God sees through our tears to the content and context of our inner desires and heart disposition.

Some seek power in the spirit of competition rather than compassion. Some seek power in the spirit of religion rather than relationship. Other seek power to rise through their church's or ministry's organizational hierarchy rather than to raise the glory of God and to bring men back to God. The Holy Spirit sees through our heart. When the motive for seeking power is wrong, He is likely to overlook until a correction is made.

Some people are asking God to give them power but they can't carry their bibles to seek for places where the Gospel have not reached in order to preach the Gospel. Others are looking for members of another church to covet and convert, and they think God will give them power to show that they have arrived and that theirs is the reigning place. God is not moved by such showmanship.

MEDITATION:
*Power answers to those whose primary goal is to serve God more and to enforce the will of God on earth as it is in heaven.*

*PRAYER & POWER* (II)

_Key Bible Text:_
*I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:* (1 Corinthians 14:18 (KJV))

_Bible Insight:_
Remember we have two things as a factor attached to prayer that brings power-- faith & righteous living. In other words, if we must excel in power manifestation, we must be not only prayerful but be growing in faith and in fruits of righteousness. Pause. Remember the Holy Spirit is the God of Power. I mean the source of power for the believer. Do you remember the most common gift that many refer to as the evidence of baptism with the Spirit!?

Yes-- Gift of Speaking in other tongues. Let's just call it Tongues. Now, note this: This is about the most received Gift of the Holy Spirit. It is important to note that though many argue that it is the evidence of Baptism with the Holy Spirit, I am more interested in the role that it plays in the believer's command or pursuit of Power. Now this is the part many miss out. Pay attention please.

Tongues should be received as The Holy Spirit's welcome pack or landing path in the believer's life. I mean, it is meant to propel us to other gifts. How? Tongues is a language of prayer and deep communication with God. Spending time tonguing provokes tremendous power. This therefore should be sought as the means by which a believer pursues or covet other gifts. Tongues is not a sign that you have arrived nor is it a place to remain content with without more. Most disciples who were known to posses Tongues, had other gifts besides tongues.

Now back to faith and righteous living. Jude said *But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,* (Jude 1:20 (KJV)) This means we build up our faith when we pray in Tongues. Faith built up, in turn releases greater power. The constant practice of Tonguing when properly applied should elevate our minds to be closer to God thereby making us live righteously effortlessly. At this level, prayer becomes a fast and effective launchpad for power manifestation.

MEDITATION:
*Tongue in Prayer + Faith + Righteousness = Power. Remember: Tongue, faith, and righteousness are all connected. If anyone suffer, the rest will. If anyone increases, the rest should. Selah*

*PRAYER & POWER*

_Key Bible Text:_
*Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.* (James 5:16 (KJV))

_Bible Insight:_
There is a great and direct link between prayer and power. There is a great effect produced when prayer is backed by righteous living. No wonder James began by requesting that we confess and do away with sins. Goodnews version renders the b part of James 5:16 as follows *"The prayer of a good person has a powerful effect."*

There is no doubt about prayer leading to power. Many reasons abound to this conclusion. An account in Matthew 17:14- 21 readily comes to mind. A man brought an epileptic son of his to Jesus. He explained that the disciples couldn't heal the boy. Jesus immediately healed the boy. Surprised, the disciples came to Jesus asking why they couldn't deal with the boy's case and Jesus mentioned faith as a factor but proceeded to add that you need prayer and fasting to deal with that kind of challenge.

By saying so, Jesus linked power to prayer and fasting. Both in bible times and from the acts of apostles till date, men and women of power have been men who gave themselves to prayers and fasting. Jesus was no exception. Elijah too. Moses too. The apostles too. You too!?

Prayer is potent in the provocation of power. Prayer of a disciplined believer is even more potent. The challenge is how many of us are prayer faithfuls?! How many of us live a consistent life of holiness? God can do so much through a man who lives right and prays so much. Are you that kind of believer?!

*PENTECOST WITHOUT POWER?* (II)

_Key Bible Text:_
*Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.* (1 Corinthians 12:29-31 (KJV))

_Bible Insight:_
Personally, if I have a pen that refuses to write, I wouldn't regard it as a pen anymore. I will discard it and get another if all attempt to get it to write fails. If I have a chair, that can't carry my weight without wobbling, I will either fix it or get a replacement. No one enjoys having a device, like smartphone for instance, that can't browse or make video calls and the like. What's the point here? Once what you have starts missing in its optimum function, you don't try to hide from that problem. Rather, you fix it as long as you can or get a replacement.

If we have the Pentecost and not the power, can we say we have Pentecost? If we have the Holy Spirit baptism, without any evidence, can we claim we are baptised? If we speak in tongues, which is supposed to be an evidence, but cannot preach the gospel to our neighbours, friends, colleagues, etc, are we truly filled with the Holy Spirit? If we have the power, and do not use it, can we correctly claim to have it? Who ever carries power and does not use it?!

This is not the time to pat ourselves in the back or claim that we are doing well. Scripture says, *covet earnestly the best gifts*. If you already have one, COVET another! If you can speak in tongues, COVET gift of prophecy, or faith, or walking in miracles or healing, etc. If you don't have the baptism of the Holy Ghost with any evidence yet, beloved, go for it. Don't stop until you know, with an evidence that you have the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

MEDITATION:
*The Holy Ghost that does not give you power is not THE ONE that the Father promised. The Father promised us the Holy Ghost with literal POWER, not potential power*

*PENTECOST WITHOUT POWER?*

_Key Bible Text:_
*And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.* (Luke 24:49 (KJV))

_Bible Insight:_
Since it was discovered that after His resurrection, Jesus remained on earth, appearing and disappearing for a space of 40 days before he finally ascended to heaven, many believers have figured that 40 days after we mark his death & resurrection, we should also mark the day of Pentecost, signaling the arrival of the Holy Ghost baptism on the disciples. This among many Pentecostals have given rise to "Pentecost Service", "Pentecost Week", "Pentecost Day" etc. However, the question that begs for attention is, was that why Jesus asked the pioneer disciples to tarry in Jerusalem? In other words, was it so that we would have another ceremonious day or week or event to add to the Christian calendar? I think there is more.

The idea is not that the practice is wrong. Not necessarily. However, the point of Pentecost must never be lost while we mark our calendars and special programs. For instance, when we call for our Pentecost week, what about the rest of the 51 weeks of the year? Should they be Pentecost-less? What's the real point of Pentecost? Should it be relegated to a week or should it be manifest in every service and in our daily living?

Here is the idea: Pentecost was a special day because the disciples received the enduement of power as promised by the Father. Power became literally manifest in the lives of the disciples. The focus of Pentecost is not about just receiving "the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues" No! The disciples did not only speak in tongues. They walked, lived and commanded literal power after the Holy Ghost came upon them! This is what we should seek after everyday of our lives and not just in a Pentecost Service -- Power!

MEDITATION:
*May God help us to individually ponder on the question: Where is the POWER?*

*THE BEST WAY TO START AND FINISH YOUR DAY*

_Key Bible Text:_
*Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God."*
(Matthew 4:4 NIV))

_Bible Insight:_
During days of uncertainty and unrest, it’s important to start and end your day by refueling your soul—the part of you that determines the way you think, feel, and choose. Just like your physical body has to be fed every day to stay healthy, so does your soul. *If you're not feeding your soul, you’re going to be drained emotionally and spiritually.*

So how do you refuel your soul? By getting into God's Word every day. Jesus said, "Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God" (Matthew 4:4 NIV). The Bible is life! You don’t just read it when you have a problem and need some advice. You don’t open it up only when you need a pick-me-up. You feed on it every day so that you are consistently nourished and growing in truth and love.

Don’t begin your day by scrolling through your phone or listening to the news. And don’t end your day by filling your mind with something on TV. None of those things are going to feed your soul.

If you only develop one new habit this year, let it be starting and ending your day in God’s Word. Wherever you leave your Bible, leave it open if you can. If the Bible is closed, you will have a tendency to overlook it. But if you leave it open to where you read last time, you’ll have an easier time remembering to be consistent in Bible reading.

It doesn't matter how long you read. It matters how you let God’s Word change you—how you see yourself and others in light of God’s love, how you view your circumstances, and how your relationship with God deepens and grows.

*YOU HAVE TO LOVE YOURSELF*

_Key Bible Text:_
*How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered!*
(Psalms 139:17 (NLT))

_Bible Insight:_
In some of His most famous words, Jesus said, “ ‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself’ ” (Matthew 22:37–39).
This shows us the connection between having a relationship with God and having relationships with people. But let’s look closer at the second greatest commandment. Notice that it says, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Jesus drew a definite connection between our love for others and our love for ourselves.

*Most of us spend so much time hating things about ourselves that we don’t realize we’re crippling our ability to love others.* There’s no way you can figure out how to love somebody else well in a relationship if you have not first figured out how to love yourself.
Some of us treat ourselves so ugly. We settle for way less than what we know we deserve. We violate our bodies and our hearts and allow others to do the same. We use our own words to put ourselves down constantly.

Well, consider this. If you devalue yourself, then you will inevitably end up treating your neighbor, or even your spouse, the same way.

In order to learn to love yourself the way God intended, you have to build a relationship with God, who is love. Remember, your relationship with Him is your ultimate relationship. But then loving yourself means accepting who God created you to be, as hard as that may be for you. It means taking the time to find your fulfillment in Him and realizing that only He can fill the emptiness you feel inside.

The way God created you was not a mistake. Remember, He made the human race and He “saw that it was very good!” (Genesis 1:31). He calls you His masterpiece (Ephesians 2:10). He wants you to see yourself the way He sees you—loved and valuable.
