_Bible Insight:_
Surrender.

It’s a word that many see in a negative light. A surrender occurs when a person or group has been overpowered. While that’s a true definition of it, there is more to it. To surrender also means “to give up completely or agree to forego especially in favor of another.”

When we surrender to Jesus, we have the ability to agree to forego in favor of His purpose. We get to choose to be a part of His eternal game plan. Jeremiah 29:11 says that His plans are not harmful, but are good, bring hope, and a bright future.

But we often hold on to our agenda as we attempt to follow Jesus. We don’t want to surrender because we are convinced that our limited vision and wisdom exceeds God’s boundless and foolproof strategy. Our full surrender to Jesus usually boils down to one question:

*How much will be required of me?*
And the answer is simple. *Everything.*

But there’s another question that we don’t ask, but should. *What is a life surrendered to Jesus filled with?* The answer is the same. *Everything.*

His peace that’s impenetrable.
His joy that’s indescribable.
His freedom that’s unexplainable.
His love that’s outrageous.
His mercy that’s generous.
His grace that’s undeserving.
His presence that’s soothing and
His wisdom that’s reassuring.

*Think about your life. Are you mapping it out on your own or are you seeking God in everything? Think about this as you go through your day.*

*THE GREAT COMMANDMENT*

*THE GREAT COMMANDMENT*

_Key Bible Text:_
*The proof that we love God comes when we keep his commandments and they are not at all troublesome.* (1John.5.3 (MSB))

_Bible Insight:_

From generation to generation we have always been hearing about commandments, rules and regulations.

What is it all about? Who brought it? Is it useful in this our era?

The children of Israel got the commandments which were known as the ten commandments but they failed to follow it strictly. What makes men to do what's wrong when the right thing has been laid down? Is there anything called great commandment that will supersede all the commandments and as well make the rest of the commandments to be fulfilled without difficulties?

These are questions that come to the mind of men that has not gotten the great commandment or have not understood how it will works.

If only we get this great commandment all other rules or regulations to fulfill purpose and destiny will be so easy to follow, but majority have gone astray looking for a short cut to please God. Without first obeying the commandments of God it will be impossible to please God and even to fulfill God's call for one's life.

*What is the Great Commandment?* Matthew 22:37, 38 & 39 makes it clear to us; it says *(Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. (KJV)*

It is only when we have this that we can fullfil purpose and be at peace with all men -- Matthew 22:40 says *"On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. (KJV))."*

You don't have any excuse if you fail to love because the God we serve is a loving God and He himself is Love.

*1 John 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. (KJV)*

*MEDITATION*

*Love is the greatest of all the commandment. So love without measure (Agape love).*

*MELCHIZEDEK* (I)

*MELCHIZEDEK* (I)

_Key Bible Text:_
*We have this hope as an anchor for our lives. It is safe and sure, and goes through the curtain of the heavenly temple into the inner sanctuary. On our behalf Jesus has gone in THERE BEFORE US and has become a high priest forever, in the priestly order of Melchizedek.* (Hebrews 6:19,18 (GNB))

_Bible Insight:_

Reading, once again, the last two verses of chapter six of the book of Hebrews brought something new to the fore-- Melchizedek! Before that, it brought something else too, to the fore -- *"Jesus has gone in there before us and has become a high priest forever"* "In there", where? "The heavenly temple into the inner sanctuary".

What is new, this time, is not that Jesus has gone to the heavenly temple (i.e. heaven which is likened to a temple because Jesus went there for priestly business). Rather, I noticed that he had gone there before us. Oh, I know, that's not new per se, but this time, it seemed "new" to me. Jesus said in John 14:2 (KJV) *"In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you."*

This reminds us that we are meant to be there with him. He only went ahead of us to prepare the place for us. However, if He went to this "heavenly temple into the inner sanctuary" ahead of us, it can only mean we are also priests. Only priests can dare enter the inner sanctuary. And not any kind of priests but the high priest. Hence, this means, we also come in the order of Jesus, who is come in the order of Melchizedek.

*MEDITATION*

*Understanding our pattern -- Jesus- who came patterned after Melchizedek will greatly help us live right while we await His return to take us to the place He had gone before us to prepare for us.*

_Bible Insight:_

You have been left behind, thrown away, forsaken or neglected.

Everyone around you have left you with your problem that you think you can't or can solve yourself. So what can you do to be free indeed? What can you do to let all this problems got solved? How can it be that your heart will be clean and have rest of mind indeed?

I hear some people say, when I get married I will have peace🤷‍♂️, when I have a job that pays well I will be satisfied 🤷‍♂️, when I have a child my mind will be at rest. Hmmm Do you think that is the real source of peace and satisfaction?

You confess that you have received Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, but it is as if you are still dwelling in sin and old habits.

You even came to the stage that you hated yourself in everything you do that makes you ask yourself *what is life?* You don't even understand what is happening to you.

Hear the Word of the Lord in the book of Isaiah 1:18 & 19. It says,
*"Come now, let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:"*

Have you been dreaming and aiming for a better future and a greater current present? You need to *"come now and reason with God"*. God is calling you today through His only begotten son, commit your ways unto Him (God), *trust Him* and serve Him wholeheartedly. *Stop chasing shadows, stop worrying over your past mistakes. If any man be in Christ, He is a new creature. Old things are passed away. Let the old things pass away in your life and serve God with everything with you and on you. Then you will get peace that passes all understanding.

*PROVE ALL THINGS*

*PROVE ALL THINGS*

_Key Bible Text:_

_Bible Insight:_

Preacher: There's a difference between everlasting life and eternal life. Everlasting life is the life you have before you come into eternal life.

Me: The difference is in the spellings. They mean the same essentially - both are derived from same word in the Greek. Whatever is everlasting is also eternal.

Preacher: There's a difference between hardship in ministry and hardness in ministry. Hardship is suffering and being in lack while hardness is about the workload of ministry. (A commentary on 2 Timothy 2:3)

Me: Well, the difference is in the bible versions. KJV uses hardness, but if you read some other translations, you find hardship used. Both mean the same.

Preacher: There's a difference between Holy Ghost and Holy Spirit. The Holy Ghost is the one that dwells in every believer while the Holy Spirit is specially assigned to Jesus.

Me: Well, there was no difference until you mentioned it and even now there's still no difference. The same Spirit we have received is called the Spirit of Christ, and the Spirit of the Son! (Romans 8:9; Galatians 4:6)

Preacher: There's a difference between children of God and sons of God. Children of God applies to every believer while sons apply to those who have grown up.

Me: Children are sons and sons are children. We are all children of God and sons of God according to the bible. No difference. The bible says WE ARE ALL SONS OF GOD by faith in Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:26; Galatians 4:6-7).

Preacher: There's a difference between Saul and Paul. Saul was the Old man while Paul is the New man.

Me: Not really. Saul was his Hebrew name while Paul was his Greek name. It's the same way Jesus is Joshua in the Hebrew language.

MEDITATION:
*Listen: It's important to know that nice punchlines are not the same as bible teaching. Prove all things!*

_Bible Insight:_
Life is full of uncertainty. I have a natural tendency to worry that something bad is going to happen even if things are going really well. In fact, sometimes I do it more when things are going smoothly in my life. This propensity to assume the worst correlates directly with forgetting God’s goodness and care. You and I must remember that God is always with us, and we will get to spend eternity with Him.

But if we’re honest, eternity can overwhelm us because we are not positive about what Heaven will really be like. Yet, God allowed the apostle John to see and articulate enough to excite and thrill us about what's to come. The new heaven and new earth are unlike anything our humanity can grasp. No more death, sorrow, mourning, or tears. I think it’s safe to say no more anxiety or depression as well. God will be near, and we will forever feel His love and protection because we are His cherished children.

MEDITATION:
*The more we are reminded of God's deep love for us, the less fear’s grip will be able to hold our hearts hostage because His perfect love casts out all fear.*

*BEING IN CONTROL OR TRUSTING GOD*

Over the years as I evaluate different things that I get anxious or stressed out about, there is one common thread in my response to them — a desire... *DAILY DEW 15TH/AUGUST/2021*

*BEING IN CONTROL OR TRUSTING GOD*

*Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you.*
(Psalms 37:5 (NLT))

_Bible Insight:_
Over the years as I evaluate different things that I get anxious or stressed out about, there is one common thread in my response to them — a desire to be in control. It's as if playing out potential negative outcomes or imagining unsuccessful work projects puts me in the driver's seat. Nothing is going to happen without me being forewarned and prepared to face it.

The problem, however, is that trust and control do not coexist. You can have control or you can have trust, but you can’t have both. This presents a challenge considering that throughout scripture, God's instruction to us is to trust Him. In fact, we often see that God's guidance does not include the final picture nor are all the details known.

Scripture tells us that God desires our trust and dependence on Him along the way. Abraham was instructed to leave his country but not given a specific destination ahead of time. The people of God were told to step into the raging river prior to God parting the waters. Mary and Martha were challenged to trust when Jesus instructed the stone be removed from their dead brother’s tomb.

Evaluate your heart and motives today. How much of your stressing and worrying is an attempt to be in control? Make an attempt today to put your trust in Him again.

MEDITATION (THINGS TO DO DAILY):
*Acknowledge your struggle to Him and declare that you want to trust Him.*
*Stop negative thoughts within 30 seconds of them entering your mind and replace them with healthy thoughts.*

*PRESS ON TOWARDS THE GOAL (II)*

To achieve a goal, it entails discipline, diligence, and Obedience in humbleness.

*PRESS ON TOWARDS THE GOAL (II)*

_Bible Insight:_

To achieve a goal, it entails discipline, diligence, and Obedience in humbleness.

If you take time to read the book of Philippians from chapter two, it really explains what a man needs to do, to achieve a goal.

I will like to bring out some of the crucial things needed for a Christian that wants to get the prize without blame.

1. A believer must be sure of his or her salvation. He is not to be entangled with the things of this world in order to avoid distractions.

2. Commitment to the things of God, to the kingdom business and also loving the Lord with all of your heart, soul and mind. (Matthew 22:37)

3. Humbleness of heart to please God at all time.

4. Engaging in Soul winning as the heartbeat of God. Also being an exceptional candidate so as not to be affected with the plight of the devil or enemy is key.

5. Being like Christ, letting the mind of Christ also be in you. (Phillip. 2:5).

It is only those who serve God wholeheartedly, that will be among the chosen ones. Don't forget that you must be led by the spirit of God always. (Romans 8:14).

It is not enough to have the spirit of God but are you having intimacy with Him so that He will lead you at all times?

MEDITATION:
*In any situation you find yourself, ask yourself this question, WHAT WILL JESUS DO?.*

Become more like Christ.

*THE HOPE SET BEFORE US*

*That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast,... *DAILY DEW 13TH/AUGUST /2021*

*THE HOPE SET BEFORE US*

_Key Bible Text:_
*That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;*
(Hebrews 6:18-19 (KJV))

_Bible Insight:_

It is impossible for God to lie. We can be rest assured about that. We have two immutable things as a guarantee. The one is God's counsel. The other is, God's oath. (Heb 6:17). The writer of Hebrews then declares, almost like a digression- that *"we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:"*

These are strong words. The certainty of God's word is to make us take refuge in the consolation of the hope set before us. These are captured in the most descriptive terms. We don't just take refuge in this hope, we do so with dispatch- "fled for refuge"...

What hope? Hope that is an anchor to the soul! Hope that is both sure and steadfast. Remember, we are saved by hope. (Rom 8:24) This hope is one that is an anchor to the soul. Meaning, it saves or stabilizes our soul. We can be so convinced about this hope, because we have God's two immutable things-- His Counsel and His Oath.

MEDITATION:
*Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,* (1 Peter 1:3 (KJV))

*Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;* (1 Peter 1:13 (KJV))

_Bible Insight:_

In law Courts, all evidence must be confirmed by an Oath. The commissioner for Oath, signed and acknowledges the depositions whether by way of Affidavit or by witness statements. When matters are to be determined by affidavit evidence, the depositions alone without oral evidence suffices. However, when matters require oral evidence, the witness statements must also be relied on and thereby adopted.

Indeed "an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife". Should the opposing party fail to file a contradictory counter affidavit or defensive statement on Oath, the matter is surely held in favour of the Applicant or Claimant, who have brought in his evidence under Oath.

When God made a promise to Abraham, he sealed His promise under Oath by no greater authority except himself. God's infallibility can be trusted. His word is indeed the confirmation and end of all strife. No strife can last beyond the promise of God. No sickness, no infirmity, no devil can protest beyond the confirmation of God's word. You can take God's word to the bank, and cash it.

*LIFE* (II)

_Key Bible Text:_
*“It’s urgent that you listen carefully to this: Anyone here who believes what I am saying right now and aligns himself with the Father, who has in fact put me in charge, has at this very moment the real, lasting life and is no longer condemned to be an outsider. This person has taken a giant step from the world of the dead to the world of the living.* (John 5:24(MSG))

_Bible Insight:_

In part one of the topic about life we see that Jesus Christ is the true life indeed. Only in Him and through Him can we truly live.

According to our text today, Jesus Christ is showing us how a person can get eternal life. He says if anyone listen carefully to His (Jesus) word and aligns himself with the Father, such a person automatically has Eternal Life.

Lets see the text in another version
(“I say emphatically that anyone who listens to my message and believes in God who sent me has eternal life, and will never be damned for his sins, but has already passed out of death into life. (Living Bible))

This is telling us that a person who refuses to hear and believe Jesus and the one who sent him, by following the sayings of Jesus Christ cannot and will not have eternal life.

How can they hear for them to believe? Romans 10:13 to 15 says:

13 Anyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.
14 But how shall they ask him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?
15 And how will anyone go and tell them unless someone sends him?

This is what the Scriptures says about those who make effort to tell others about the way to life:
“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the Gospel of peace with God and bring glad tidings of good things.”[b] In other words, how welcome are those who come preaching God’s Good News! (Living Bible)

*Are you saved? Do you believed? Have you been sent?*

If your answer is yes, then the giver of life resides in you and also with you to give life to the people around you who are in the captive of the devil, to set the captives free through the life that is the light in you.

And if you are not saved, it is not too late for you to believe and call upon the name of the Lord who can give eternal life and bring you out of condemnation (out of darkness) into His marvelous light. You can turn your back to sin and turn to God.

*How can I do this? How can I get life?*

(1) Sincerely repent from your sin, (2) confess your sins to God (3) accept the Lordship of Jesus Christ and the sacrifice He made because of you, (4) turn back to him and turn away from the lust of this world, (5) call on him for mercy with faith and He will give you life eternal.

Put your faith in Jesus and you shall rejoice evermore.

_Bible Insight:_

Everyone desire to live life to the fullness. They enjoy it and love to have more of it (life).

Some people look for life from the wrong source and so many ways just for them to live long. They made a lot of sacrifice just to stay forever. They consult a lot of experts and even sources of power just to get life that last long here on earth.

I want to assure you that these options do not guarantee life. Such options are not worthy to consulted for eternal life which gives joy and peace.

Only one Supreme, Almighty that cannot be compared with can give life everlasting, coupled with joy, peace, goodness, mercy, favour and so many great benefits that will last forever.

According to our Bible text is only in Jesus that you can get life and the Life is not just an ordinary life but one that gives light to men. It is in a life like this that the light of men resides. Do you want to enjoy life indeed, why don't you come to Jesus today?

Give everything back to Him. Lay it down at His feet and let Him give you everlasting life without sorrow. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.

MEDITATION:

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. It is only through the way that you will find the truth and through the truth is Life that the life giver (GOD) gives.

There is no other way, there is no greater truth, there is no higher life than the one Jesus gives. Hold unto Him and you will not regret it.

_Bible Insight:_

Diligence is key to success. Man knows it. God knows it even more. Man demands it. God demands it even more. Without diligence, we would be nothing and will achieve nothing. Personal diligence is key to good personal success.

Hebrews 6:10 praises the labour of love fueled by desire to glorify the name of Christ. Hebrews 6:11 advocates for *each person* to show the same diligence in labouring in love and ministering to the saints for Christ sake.

Plato said, *"Prefer diligence before idleness, unless you esteem rust above brightness."* If we must let our lights shine either in business or in service of God or in anything worthwhile, we must practice being diligent.

Samuel Johnson, said *"what we ever hope to do with ease, we must first learn to do with diligence."* Unless we master a skill by diligence, we will never become comfortable at exercising that skill. Masters do what they know to do best with ease. Only because they had been diligent!

_Bible Insight:_

The major and most important transformation undergone by the believer is one of moving from selfishness or self centeredness to Christ-centeredness. If any man be in Christ, he is a new creation. The new creation man is a Christ oriented personality. It is actually the disappearance of self and the emergence and preeminence of Christ in me that makes me mature in Christ. Thus the scripture says, Christ in me the hope of glory!

God never forgets our labour of love for the brethren. Hence, God's faithfulness is constant. We need to therefore focus more on labouring in love. Why do we labour in love? Until we truly understand why, we won't labour effectively. We would be discouraged, in fact.

We don't labour in love to please self. We don't labour in love simply because of the love of the brethren. Even that reason, can fail as good and scriptural as it is. We labour in love for this reason:

*For God is not unrighteous to forget or overlook your labor and the love which you have shown FOR HIS NAME'S SAKE in ministering to the needs of the saints*

We labour for Christ's sake. We labour for the sake of the name of Christ. We labour to bring Christ glory. We don't labour because we love to. We labour because God says we should do so for Christ's sake.

May we be strengthened to do more for His name sake.

_Bible Insight:_

Hebrews 6:9-10 (Amplified) renders the text this way: "Even though we speak this way, yet in your case, beloved, we are now firmly convinced of better things that are near to salvation and accompany it. For God is not unrighteous to forget or overlook your labor and the love which you have shown for His name's sake in ministering to the needs of the saints (His own consecrated people), as you still do."

Looking through that, please note. They know that better things await and accompany the salvation of the brethren. They know because God is not unrighteous to forget or overlook their (the brethren's) labour of love. Meaning, they know that better things will accompany their salvation because they are labouring in love. Read the text again.

Be positive but don't be positive without having any effort you are putting in place. For instance, if you are a student, you should be positive about your results after you have really put in effort at studying. Being positive without anything to back up your positivity will likely lead to frustration.

Sometimes the only "labour of love" fueling your positivity is your prayer life. Sometimes it should be both prayer and diligent labour.

Keep positive but keep working positively.
