It will not be like the covenant that I made with their ancestors on the day I took them by the hand and led them out of Egypt. They were not faithful to the covenant I made with them, and so I paid no attention to them."*

*Now, this is the covenant that I will make with the people of Israel in the days to come, says the Lord: I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.*

*None of them will have to teach their friends or tell their neighbors, 'Know the Lord.' For they will all know me, from the least to the greatest. I will forgive their sins and will no longer remember their wrongs.*

By speaking of a new covenant, God has made the first one old; and anything that becomes old and worn out will soon disappear.

The power of the new covenant calls us to dwell upon the precious promises of God so that we don't lose sight of the essence of the new covenant.

_Bible Insight:_

*THE BETTER COVENANT* (V)

_Key Bible Text:_

_Bible Insight:_

Under the new covenant, there is a guarantee of divine forgiveness and total forgetfulness of your sins by God. Hallelujah!

God is committed to making you His own forever. Recognizing human fallibility & imperfection, He promises you an open check of forgiveness of sin and complete forgetfulness of sin. Please note that this is in addition to all the other three promises- 1. "I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts."; 2. "I will be their God, and they will be my people."; 3. "None of them will have to teach their friends or tell their neighbors, 'Know the Lord.' For they will all know me, from the least to the greatest."

Hence, a believer who is living conscious of the entire promises upon which the new covenant is built, will appreciate the intent of 1John 2:1- *these things write I unto you, that ye sin not* Sin is not expected but only recognized as a possibility that could be encountered on the journey towards perfection.

In the event that it occurs, (we are not told to live in the consciousness of sin, but in the event that we malfunction, because sin is a bug or malware in the system of the recreated believer), we have an advocate who is skilled in the art of ensuring that we obtain forgiveness and complete forgetfulness of sin from the Father.

This should fuel us to pursue perfection, knowing that should anything go wrong inadvertently in the process, we are not canceled out but we are encouraged to "go and sin no more"

_Key Bible Text:_

_Bible Insight:_

Remember this: the promises of better things upon which this new covenant is built are as follows: 1. "I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts."; 2. "I will be their God, and they will be my people."; 3. "None of them will have to teach their friends or tell their neighbors, 'Know the Lord.' For they will all know me, from the least to the greatest."; and 4. "I will forgive their sins and will no longer remember their wrongs."

These promises actually make the new covenant a better one. We take a closer look at the third promise. God promises that under this new covenant, there will be knowledge of God upon the people of God. Please note that there is a progression: first, you will have God's laws in your inner person. Your heart will naturally be inclined to follow God's word. Second, you will be God's person. When people ask for Gods ambassadors, you'll definitely be recognize as one.

This leads us to the third one: you will know the Lord. You will not need a reminder to know him. You will recognize His voice. You will naturally be inclined to the knowledge of God. You will experience the reality of the ministry of the anointing, where without being taught by men, with God's word opened before you, will be taught by the Holy Ghost. Hallelujah

*GOD'S PRESENCE 3*

_Key Bible Text:_

_Bible Insight:_

Have you been far away from God, through your deceitful lifestyle or a pretentious lifestyle? it will be impossible to enjoy God's Presence that way, rather confusion and sorrow will lead way. But for that not to happen, it is only in God's presence that fullness of joy resides and at His right hand you'll find pleasures forever, not the pleasure that last for a week or a month but forever.

Why don't you search your heart right now and see if you are (living) in the presence of God indeed?

Have you been battling with sin, sickness or some other evil symptoms? God's Presence is the right place for you, to be able to be free indeed from all this negative symptoms.

Get a determination to seek God in His presence and always be conscious of God's Presence in your life, then the glory of God can show forth in your life and the path of true life will be made known to you.

*HEARING GOD* (III)

_Bible Insight:_

Then I said Chris is there, I would go to him . ..when I got to Chris's house, he also was not there. It was getting dark I said "God, where will I sleep today?" I should have returned home but because there was no transport fare, I could not. Yet I couldn't return to the boys who had begged me to take the twelve naira. So I went and slept somewhere. There was no food for me because nobody was there.

I was scheduled to preach in Katsina-Ala the following day, so I went by faith to stand by the roadside believing that something will happen; but nothing happened. That was because God needed to show me that vain is the help of man. I stood by the road side but no vehicle stopped to give me a ride. The one that eventually stopped took me a short distance and asked for my transport fare. When I said I had no money the driver yelled at me "What do you want me to use to buy petrol? Get down!"

I felt bad and said "God, why is it like this?" He said "You missed my provision for the work. I made a provision of twelve naira for that journey but you missed it because you were looking up to your friends for help". ...God saw me through but I had to repent of my arrogance. I missed my preaching engagement that day. I only managed to get home at 4 p.m. the following day.

A journey of one and a half hours took me one and half days, because I missed the divine consignment, as my eyes were fixed on men.

*HEARING GOD* (II)

_Bible Insight:_

One day, I left Katsina-Ala to preach in Makurdi, Benue State, Nigeria, a journey of about a hundred and twenty kilometres. The transport fare then was four naira. When I left home, all I had was four naira and twenty kobo and I took it all. It is mine to obey, it is his to provide. As I preached the Holy Ghost came down and the young people were filled with the Spirit.

I had not yet a sense of how to return home, and I needed to send my nephew who was living with me to school. The following day, when I was leaving for that meeting, I sent him to my friend's house for him to be taken care of over the weekend; but out there I was stranded.

When I finished preaching, those young people brought me some money. I refused to collect it saying that they should not bother; yet as I was rejecting the money they brought I had no clue of how to get back home. I made a mistake. I did not know through whom God would meet my need that day.

Those young men tried to persuade me to take the money (twelve naira), but I refused. I had an engineer friend living in that town then. Any time I was in town, I went to his house. So on that day I said I would go there and he would meet my need.

"Woe unto him who puts his trust in man".

Unfortunately when I got there, neither he nor his wife was around. The house maid who ought to know me because I was a frequent visitor in that house, stood at the door and said. "When he was going out, he said I should not open the door for anyone"

I said "Don't you know me?" She answered "Sir, I don't want to be rude but I am acting on instruction". In order to show her that I was a very intimate friend, I mentioned their names saying. "But where is Bill, and where is Miriam". She said "They are all out, and they didn't tell me you are coming sir"

And I had not eaten that day. I was not supposed to fast, but there was no food to eat; so I left and said to myself "Well, Dr. Ajonye is there". Then I went to his house only to find the doors locked. Nobody was at home. He had traveled to Sierra Leone.

*Before The Cross: We Are Humbled*

_Key Bible Text:_
*“And being found in human form, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.”* – (Philippians 2:8)

_Bible Insight:_
Jesus is our ultimate example of humility. As we are sinful, find forgiveness through Jesus, and become disciples, it’s an easy temptation to become prideful in the process. Satan would love nothing more than for God’s children to walk around prideful. God opposes the proud, and gives grace to the humble.

Yes, it’s true that we are forgiven through Christ, but that doesn’t give us a free pass to do anything we want. Likewise, it doesn’t mean that we know it all and that we can look down on others or slander those who reject the Word of God.

If we look to the cross, we see how we can exercise humility towards others. We can avoid pride and love others despite their actions towards us because of Jesus’ love towards us despite our actions towards Him. We are still sometimes sinful and still fall short every other day as believers at times (which makes the cross that much bigger), so we have no right to be prideful towards others or to God.

*HEARING GOD*

_Bible Insight:_

When I was still riding a motorbike, I went somewhere to preach in the early 1980s. As I was returning, there was a heavy downpour of rain and it beat hard on me like stones. There was no shelter under which to park. The only option was to keep going. I shivered with cold. I cried out "Lord, remember your servant. O God, I am not complaining, but remember me. I have to go to places for preaching engagements. You are the one who provided this motorcycle. Thank You. But I wish you would give me a car, to reduce the stress I am facing at this time". And the Lord said "I will get you a car".

A week after, a sister brought a Volkswagen Beetle. She said the Lord told her that she should give me the car. Then I asked the Lord, "Is this the car?" The Lord said, "This is not the car. This is a sympathy offering. If I were you. I would not take it."

Who am I to take what the Lord would not take? I politely thanked the sister and told her that I could not take the car and that it was neither meant for me nor for the work. She got annoyed.

She said "What do you mean? I told you that God told me to give it to you!" Then I said "But I told you that God did not tell me to receive it." She got me wrong. And did not understand me. She jumped up and said "Well, we are trying to help you. Are you trying to be over humble?" I was surprised.

Then she took the car, went and gave it to another preacher in town who did not know that the car had been brought to me before. When I got to that preacher's house for the regular leader's meeting, he joyfully told me about the miraculous provision of the car. He said "Sir, see the car the Lord has provided for me!" I said, "Yes, that's alright. Praise God."

So he started riding the car. But when the husband of the lady arrived from his journey, he asked his wife about the car. She said the Lord led her to give it out. He said "No, don't bring confusion into my house. Go and bring back my car. Otherwise, there will be problem." The sister began to run helter-skelter. The man said "I am a Christian, and you are a Christian. Go and bring my car back. God has not told me to give it to any evangelist." The sister went and begged the man of God and brought the car back. The man of God began to trek again.

When next I went for our usual fellowship, the man of God said, "Do you see what this brother did? His wife made an offering to the Lord, and he disagreed. She came and collected the car back. They have insulted the Lord." I laughed. When he calmed down, I said "Sir, I don't know whether you prayed about it. The car was brought to me before and the Lord said it was not meant for me and the work. And so when I saw it in your house, I wondered how the Lord led you. But it's alright. Please, wait for the right vehicle. When it comes, you will know".

_Bible Insight:_
Think about the topic for a minute.

In order to serve God, we have to serve the people around us. Why? Because God doesn’t need anything from us. Instead, He wants something for us. So He calls us to serve people. And we’ll never lock eyes with someone whom God doesn’t adore. Those are the people we get to serve.

We may wonder what we have to offer someone. God equipped us with distinct spiritual gifts before we inhaled our first breath. He formed each of us in our mother’s womb, and He knows every intricate detail of our being. And, He made us to operate in a certain way, so that others will be blessed and encouraged by our contribution. So, how we are wired is God-driven and God-ordained. Maybe you are:

*An entrepreneur who knows how to execute the most remarkable plans.
*People-oriented, and you know just what to say and do to bring comfort to someone in need.
*A “behind-the-scenes” person, and you always ensure that tasks are done even if no one ever notices.
*A hospitable person who knows how to make a room inviting and brings a calmness over others.
*An amazing writer who is able to convey truths about God in ways that help others understand Him more.

We may be using our spiritual gifts to impact fellow believers, or we may simply be performing our daily duties: satisfying our earthly responsibilities is our way to serve God. It really is that simple. Why? Again, it’s less about our activity and more about our heart’s disposition. *It’s not what we do… but why we do it.*

*DAILY DEW 26TH/SEPTEMBER/2021*

*GOD'S PRESENCE (2)*

_Key Bible Text:_
*Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.* (Psalm 16:11 (KJV))

_Bible Insight:_

In the first part of this devotion, we talked about the things that will happen when you are in the presence of... *DAILY DEW 26TH/SEPTEMBER/2021*

*GOD'S PRESENCE (2)*

_Key Bible Text:_

_Bible Insight:_

In the first part of this devotion, we talked about the things that will happen when you are in the presence of a person you trust and love.

It is not enough to walk with the person you love here on earth but you need to first be in the presence of your maker to be able to have a fulfilled life. This calls for some procedure because not everyone that can dwell in the presence of the most High.

In Psalms 24:3-4 it is written, *"Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.*

Now you need to ask yourself if truly you are in the category of those that can dwell in the presence of the Lord and have fullness of Joy.

Do you have a clean hands and a pure heart? Have you not been lifting up your soul unto things that will perish?

Those who always enjoy the presence of the Lord are the people living for God

In Col.3.3(MSB), it is written, *"Your old life is dead. Your new life, which is your real life--even though invisible to spectators--is with Christ in God. He is your life."*

Only those who are dead to self, sin and everything that is not of God, are the ones that can be in His presence and enjoy the fullness thereof. Make out time to fellowship in God's presence if you are already living for Him and if not ask God for mercy and sanctification, trust Him and follow His commandments. All will be well.

Missions suffers because of the little or no sense of urgency and passion. Another reason missions suffers is because of lack of knowledge! Last year, one of the missionary volunteers lamented that she didn't know that there are places even in Nigeria that is in dire need of the Gospel. The problem is, maintaining the sense of urgency and passion for the work.

Like I promised, what are *people groups* or *unreached people groups* or even the *10/40window* ? We will take these in bits so you have just enough information to understand what we are referring to.

*The definition used by mission strategist for people group is "a significantly large grouping of individuals who perceive themselves to have a common affinity for one another because of their shared language, religion, ethnicity, residence, occupation, class or caste, situation, etc., or combinations of these."*

*For evangelistic purposes it is "the largest group within which the gospel can spread as a church planting movement without encountering barriers of understanding or acceptance." (Ralph Winter p. 536)*

*Current data suggests there are about 17,400 distinct people groups when country boundaries are considered.*

Think about it! 17,400 people groups that must be reached with the Gospel?! In our next update, we shall see how many of these people groups have not been reached with the Gospel.

*C. THE POWER OF SIN REQUIRES THE ONGOING CARE OF OUR GREAT SHEPHERD AND OVERSEER.*

You have been turned “to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls.” What a beautiful picture this is, especially for the slaves to whom Peter was writing, who were being mistreated by their earthly masters! Peter tells them that they are under the tender care of the Good Shepherd, who has the welfare of all His sheep in view. The word “Guardian” is “episkopos,” which later came to be translated, “bishop.” In fact, both shepherd and bishop are applied to church leaders as functions they must fulfill (1 Pet. 5:1-2; Acts 20:28). “Episkopos” means to watch over in the sense of guarding. Jesus, the Good Shepherd, watches over the souls of His sheep.

Does the fact that Jesus is watching everything you think, say, and do make you uncomfortable or comforted? If you’re seeking to live to righteousness, if your focus is on the cross where the Good Shepherd laid down His life for you as one of His sheep, then it ought to be a comforting thought, that He is keeping watch over your soul. That doesn’t eliminate the need for church leaders to keep watch, nor for you to guard yourself from sin. But if we seek to follow Him, we can know that He will feed, lead, and guard us as our Shepherd and Overseer.

*MEDITATION*
*Thus through Christ’s death, we are delivered both from the penalty and from the power of sin. But we must turn to Him.*

Do you worship your job? Do you worship your family? Do you worship your legacy? How about your net worth? What do you esteem more than God? What do you value more than God? Do you worship your position? Do you worship your resources? Do you worship your network? How about your influence? Choose to surrender to God. Let God rule your heart. Let His Word have Authority in your life.

_Bible Insight:_
Something is wrong with the world. Something is broken. Something is wrong with all of us. Deep down I believe we all sense this. We can tell something is not right and can’t quite explain why. Whether or not we are believers, I think we can agree this is true.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” – Romans 3:23

When we come before the Cross of Christ, we become painfully aware that there is nothing we can do to be in a right relationship with God. There is nothing we can do to obtain salvation.

Even if we have a “good” day full of good works including loving others and serving them, the Bible says our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment (Isaiah 64:6).

If the story ended in the fact that we are sinful, that would be the worst news possible. It would honestly be depressing and what hope would we have? Thankfully, the Bible doesn’t teach us that there is no hope. It actually teaches quite the opposite.“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16

As we come before the cross, we realize that we are forgiven through what Jesus has done for us. The Bible teaches that this forgiveness is available for all people, and that we need to believe in Jesus, choose to repent from our sinful ways, and decide to follow Him.

MEDITATION:
*For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.*
(2 Corinthians 5:21 (NLT))
