*DAILY DEW 17/MARCH/2025*
*BOTH TO DO AND TEACH*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach."* (Acts 1: 1 (KJV))
_Bible Insight_
The book of Acts begins with a reference to Luke's previous work, the Gospel of Luke. In Acts 1:1, Luke addresses Theophilus, a likely patron or friend, and reminds him of his earlier account of Jesus' life, teachings, and ministry. This verse serves as a bridge between the two books, highlighting the continuity of Luke's narrative.
Luke's emphasis on Jesus' actions and teachings is significant. By noting that Jesus "began" to do and teach, Luke implies that Jesus' work did not end with His ascension. Instead, Jesus' ministry continues through the apostles and the early church, as recorded in the book of Acts. This understanding underscores the importance of the church's role in carrying out Jesus' mission.
The lesson from Acts 1:1 is that our faith is rooted in the person and work of Jesus Christ. As we read through the book of Acts, we're reminded that we're part of a larger story – one that began with Jesus' ministry and continues through the church today.
_MEDITATION:_
*"May we be inspired to carry on Jesus' work, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and faithful to His teachings."*
