It demands that the candidate take a stand, defend it, and hold to it in the face of objections and ridicule."* -- David W. Hegg When Jesus said we don't put our hands to the plough and look back, he meant we must be convinced about following him, and everything it means to following him. Proverbs 24:10 (KJV) If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small. This scripture actually means we can't thrive and overcome challenges if the strength of our conviction is not stronger than the struggle to overcome. The strength of our determination must supercede the pain and difficulties of the challenge. Conviction is that self imposed boundaries that guide & guard everything you do or refrain from doing. We can't claim to be convinced, if we don't impose it on ourselves to do those things that are not convenient and easy. Conviction is the foundation & spring board for every great destiny. In the end the only thing your life will achieve is directly proportional to the convictions that you formed. Your convictions or the lack of it, consciously or unconsciously affects or influences or determines everything you do in life...
