*Struggling to Burn For God?*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand."* (Acts 28:3 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
This is what you must understand…
1. You can only build fire to the extent that you overcome the excuses of the flesh.
You can battle with things in your flesh, but if you choose to build a fire in spite of that, you'll grow your fire for God.
2. Somebody can spark your fire for God, but it is your logs of wood that will keep the fire burning.
God always starts the fire, but God doesn't keep it burning. What keeps your fire burning are your logs of wood-your prayer, fasting, giving, and reading of the Word.
3. When you start to build a fire, vipers will come out.
Don't blame God if it seems like now that you're getting closer to Him, all hell is breaking loose. The fire did not create the snake; it only exposed it. The most beautiful part about building God's fire in your life is that if His fire exposes it, then it can kill it.
4. Everybody gets attacked, but not everybody walks in dominion.
What God wants to teach you is not to depend on the fire of your pastor but to build a fire in your own home so that if something comes against you, you have a place to drop that snake (nightmare, depression, sickness) into.
_MEDITATION:_
*"If you are struggling to stay on fire for God, don't stop struggling. For after the struggle, comes the victory. Only those who keep fighting, gets reinforcement"* -- EDJ

*5 Reasons Prayers Don't Get Answered*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses."* (Mark 11:25 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
1. Unforgiveness (Mark 11:25-26)
If you harbor bitterness, offense, or unforgiveness in your heart towards somebody, it will hinder your prayers.
2. Unbelief (James 1:6-7)
If you are doubting, find Scripture about what you are praying for to understand God’s heart on the matter.
3. Wrong Motive (James 4:3)
If you are asking God for something, but there is no peace concerning what you are asking for, you may need to re-evaluate your motives.
4. Unconfessed Sin (Isaiah 59:1-2)
Having something on your heart that weighs you down and distracts your mind will cause an inability for you to connect with God.
5. Mistreating Your Spouse (1 Peter 3:7)
You must repent if you are harsh, mean, intentionally hurting their feelings, or speaking negative words that destroy their self-identity.
_MEDITATION:_
*Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.* (James 5:16 (KJV))

*Two Ways We Receive God’s Anointing*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him."* (1 John 2:27 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Two Ways We Receive God’s Anointing:
1. A visitation from God
2. An impartation from men of God
Good examples are:
- Moses vs Joshua
God supernaturally encountered Moses, but Moses laid hands on Joshua (Num 27:18; Deut 34:9).
- Samuel vs David
God supernaturally visited Samuel, but Samuel anointed Saul and David (1 Sam 3:1; 10:1; 16:12).
- Elijah vs Elisha
We don’t know how Elijah became a prophet, but most likely, it was supernaturally. Elisha became a prophet by receiving a double portion of Elijah’s spirit (2 Kings 2:9).
- Paul and Timothy
Paul had Ananias lay hands on him by prophets and teachers (Acts 9:17; 13:1-3). Timothy received the gifts of God through Paul and elders (1 Tim 4:14; 2 Tim 1:6).
The laying on of hands is a foundational doctrine of Christianity (Heb 6:1-2).
- God used His hands to do miracles (Ex 15:6).
- Jacob blessed his kids by laying on of hands (Gen 48:17).
- Jesus healed by laying on of hands (Mark 6:5).
- The hands of the apostles did many wonders (Acts 5:12).
- The hands of Paul were used to do miracles (Acts 19:11).
_MEDITATION:_

*Achan and Rahab* (1)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against the children of Israel."* (Joshua 7:1 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
I want to tell you a story about two different people. Both
stories come from the Old Testament and provide a contrast in behavior that I want to use in describing our relationship with the Holy Spirit.
Two stories. Two different people. One was hiding something, and the other was hiding someone. One had a promising future, and the other faced certain doom. One was a soldier, while the other was a prostitute. One destroyed his family, while the other saved her family. One brought defeat to the nation while the other was used to save the nation.
You have probably figured out who I am talking about – Achan and Rahab. These stories happened simultaneously in the Book of Joshua.
While their stories happen in the same place and time, these individuals couldn’t be more different from each other. Both were hiding something but what they were hiding forever changed their lives.
_MEDITATION:_
*Did not Achan the son of Zerah commit a trespass in the accursed thing, and wrath fell on all the congregation of Israel? and that man perished not alone in his iniquity.* (Joshua 22:20 (KJV))
