*DAILY DEW 23RD/AUGUST/2021* *HE WANTS YOU* _Key Bible Text:_ *Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins.* (1 Peter 4:8 (NLT)) _Bible Insight:_ What does God really want from us? Does He want our religious activities like attending church or doing a Bible study? Does He want us to refrain from watching or doing bad things? Doing good things and refraining from doing bad things is not the goal of following Jesus. Loving Him is. That’s what He wants. He wants you. God wants our hearts and entire devotion. And then guess what will happen? We will do things like attend church and study the Bible because we want to know Him more. We will consider what we watch and say because we want to be more like Him. We will be kind and generous because we want to do what He’s called us to do. Our spiritual activities should not come first, nor should they be obligatory. They follow our heart’s devotion. When we say "yes" to Jesus and receive His salvation, we die to self. But, the next day we will have to die again. And the next day and the next. *The battle with our selfish desires occurs from the moment we wake up until the moment we drift off to sleep.* Dying to self is an everyday event. The more we follow Christ, the more we should be dying to self. Why? Because we have sought after God and learned this: His higher, better ways supersede our mediocre, average ways. As Christ's followers, we get access to His unspeakable power, His never ending love, and yes, His limitless grace. There is no sin we can commit and no distance we can travel away from Him where He will not bridge the gap with the full force of his power, love, and grace. That’s someone worth surrendering to and living for. And that Someone is Jesus. MEDITATION: Do you feel that you live fully surrendered to Jesus? What is it that keeps you from doing so? *DAILY DEW 16TH/AUGUST/2021* *FROM ANXIETY TO PEACE* _Key Bible Text:_ *Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.* (1 John 4:18 (NLT)) _Bible Insight:_ Life is full of uncertainty. I have a natural tendency to worry that something bad is going to happen even if things are going really well. In fact, sometimes I do it more when things are going smoothly in my life. This propensity to assume the worst correlates directly with forgetting God’s goodness and care. You and I must remember that God is always with us, and we will get to spend eternity with Him. But if we’re honest, eternity can overwhelm us because we are not positive about what Heaven will really be like. Yet, God allowed the apostle John to see and articulate enough to excite and thrill us about what's to come. The new heaven and new earth are unlike anything our humanity can grasp. No more death, sorrow, mourning, or tears. I think it’s safe to say no more anxiety or depression as well. God will be near, and we will forever feel His love and protection because we are His cherished children. *DAILY DEW 2ND/AUGUST /2021* *BE POSITIVE* (II) _Key Bible Text:_ *But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak. For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.* (Hebrews 6:9-10 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ Hebrews 6:9-10 (Amplified) renders the text this way: "Even though we speak this way, yet in your case, beloved, we are now firmly convinced of better things that are near to salvation and accompany it. For God is not unrighteous to forget or overlook your labor and the love which you have shown for His name's sake in ministering to the needs of the saints (His own consecrated people), as you still do." Looking through that, please note. They know that better things await and accompany the salvation of the brethren. They know because God is not unrighteous to forget or overlook their (the brethren's) labour of love. Meaning, they know that better things will accompany their salvation because they are labouring in love. Read the text again. Be positive but don't be positive without having any effort you are putting in place. For instance, if you are a student, you should be positive about your results after you have really put in effort at studying. Being positive without anything to back up your positivity will likely lead to frustration. Sometimes the only "labour of love" fueling your positivity is your prayer life. Sometimes it should be both prayer and diligent labour. Keep positive but keep working positively. *DAILY DEW 26TH/JULY/2021* *REACH A POINT OF NO RETURN* _Key Bible Text:_ *For how can those who abandon their faith be brought back to repent again? They were once in God's light; they tasted heaven's gift and received their share of the Holy Spirit.* (Hebrews 6:4 (GNB)) _Bible Insight:_ There is a point of no return in Christ. It begins from the new birth (the born again experience) and progresses to the point of no return in the knowledge and profession of Jesus Christ. There is a point you get to in Christ, where you can't easily turn your back on Christ. If you ever turn your back on Christ after getting to that point, you will not be able to return to Christ again. Hebrews 6:1-2 explores the basics of the faith of Jesus Christ. However, it urges us to move to the deeper teachings and realities of the faith. These are teachings and realities that bring us to the point of no return in Christ, that is, we will not be able to turn our backs on Christ unless we are determined to crucify Christ afresh! And crucifying Christ afresh will mean, you were never truly saved to begin with. Let's look at the three areas mentioned, which shows depth in Christ:- *"They were once in God's light; they tasted heaven's gift and received their share of the Holy Spirit."* Hebrews 6:4 (CEB) *Because it's impossible to restore people to changed hearts and lives who turn away once they have seen the light, tasted the heavenly gift, become partners with the Holy Spirit,* The light of God shines to reveal and deflect darkness, the heavenly gift and partnership with the Holy Spirit refers to levels of depth in walking and dealing with the Holy Spirit. Anyone who wants to get to God's point of no return in Christ, must embrace light, heavenly gift and partnership with the Holy Spirit. These are levels that guarantees that we will not allow any atom of darkness to prevail over us neither shall we allow sin or anything else to draw us away from the faith- because we are led by the Holy Spirit who is in partnership with us. *MEDITATION:* *Matthew 6:23 (KJV) But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. *DAILY DEW 19TH/JULY/2021* *What's Your Focus?* _Key Bible Text:_ *For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. As one who reckons, he says to you, eat and drink, yet his heart is not with you [but is grudging the cost].* (Proverbs 23:7 (AMP)) _Bible Insight:_ I’ve learnt one thing in life so far: what you focus on somehow expands. Focus on your business, invest your thoughts and imaginations on how to grow it, talk about it with your spouse and friends; and gradually but surely, it will expand. On the other hand, spend your time on every gist in town and watch the uselessness of your life expand. You will know more gists and gossips and, by the law of attraction, you will attract people like you and your life will nosedive or at best stagnate. The human mind is powerful to the extent that we focus and whether the focus is to the left or the right, your mind does not care. It will give you back, in multiple folds, what you are steadily planting in it. This is why the Bible declares: guard your heart (mind) with all diligence for out of it are the issues or essence of life. *MEDITATION:* *Whenever you want to achieve something, keep your eyes open, concentrate and make sure you know exactly what it is you want.
