The Holy Spirit uses the personal pronoun in reference to Himself (Acts 13:2). 2. Jesus referred to the Holy Spirit as a person (Jn 16:7,8,13,14). 3. The Holy Spirit’s work is to carry on the ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ (Jn 14:16-17). 4. The Holy Spirit has the three elements of personality:� - Mind: “The mind of the Spirit” (Rom 8:27)� - Will: “The Spirit didn't permit them” (Acts 16:6-7)� - Emotions: “Do not grieve the Holy Spirit” (Eph 4:30) 5. The Holy Spirit performs actions that only a person can perform. He speaks, searches all things, teaches, cries, helps, gives gifts, etc. 6. The Holy Spirit has personal feelings ascribed to Him. *DAILY DEW 27/SEPTEMBER/2023* *Longsuffering* (V) _Key Bible Text:_ "*Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting."* (1 Timothy 1:16 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ God would never achieve his purpose for mankind without longsuffering. This is one key attribute of God. God suffers long with mankind. This is what helped Paul eventually transform from the persecutor of Christians to the preacher of Christ. As it with God, so it is with us-- without longsuffering, we will never achieve purpose or anything of worthwhile value. Longsuffering helps us stick to the pursuit of purpose. You keep doing what you know is right not because it is easy but because it is right. You keep walking and working towards living a life that pleases God. Longsuffering will make the difference between believers who will burn out, and fizzle out, and believers who will endure to the end and be saved. Longsuffering will make you shine in your business, or profession as you deal with all the difficult challenges that comes with it with grit and grace. Longsuffering is the attribute that will make a student stick to the demands of excellence through practice and laborious studies. Longsuffering is the quality that will keep couples working on getting it right in their marriage in a world that celebrates feminism and single parenthood. Longsuffering is the ingredient that will make you fit for purpose in the hands of God, so you can rise and live as light in a world of darkness where we hold forth the light of God. *DAILY DEW 26/SEPTEMBER/2023* *Longsuffering* (IV) _Key Bible Text:_ "*But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, LONGSUFFERING, and plenteous in mercy and truth. O turn unto me, and have mercy upon me; give thy strength unto thy servant, and save the son of thine handmaid."* (Psalms 86:15-16 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ How is longsuffering the foundation for faith, Meekness, temperance (self control)? Faith is the headquarters of longsuffering if I may say. It is holding tenaciously and even stubbornly on the word of God even in the face of doubts and delays. Faith professed without the friction of a delay or strong opposition or contradiction is nothing but child's play. You cannot be a man or woman of faith except in the midst of challenging situations. That's why longsuffering is needed. When you can't slog it out with longsuffering like Job or Jesus on his way to the cross or Elijah who kept praying until the sign of rain appeared, where is your faith? Meekness! When Moses stood like a rock of defence for the people of Israel, you would think that the church of Israel was made up of very loyal and obedient congregation. Alas, the contrary was the case. Moses by meekness could care, defend and intercede for the stubborn israelites because of longsuffering. If you don't agree, search deeper and you will see. Self-control is the brain box of longsuffering. Without it, there can be no longsuffering. As true as that is, yet, self-control cannot function for long without longsuffering. So after a while, self control will grow weak, and would then rely on longsuffering to keep going. It is just like most African parents, self control parents longsuffering.
