*PRAYER--A LOVE LANGUAGE* (4)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: FOR YOUR FATHER KNOWETH WHAT THINGS YE HAVE NEED OF, BEFORE YE ASK HIM."* (Matthew 6:7-8 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
During my courtship days, some of the gist, on some days, were the usual ones, with nothing extra ordinary. We just replayed how the day had gone and sometimes, the day had worn a uniform with nothing extra to pick on for more elaborations.
Sometimes on such days, just to elongate the session, we can go back to things that had happened on other days that we probably hadn't share about or we pick on some future ideas or aspirations to talk about.
Significantly, the gist was good all the same and nothing dry at all. The company we kept, the staying on the phone talking, the catching up generally, even if it involved some repetitions or a lot, was all okay and enjoyable to us. It was not vain repetitions.
What God is against is vain repetitions, with emphasis on, as the Gentiles do. See I Kings 18:25-29 for an example of classic gentile repetitions.
But again take a look at verse 8: our Father knows what we need before we ask. This again buttresses the point that I have been making. Just like my wife and I enjoyed our daily company, even when we knew some gists would be similar to what we had discussed before, God wants our company in the place of prayer, even when he already knows what we need before we ask.
That screams love relationship to me. Prayer is indeed a love language!
_MEDITATION:_
*When your perspective about prayer changes from simply asking for what you need or want to a time when you build on your relationship with God, gaining intimacy, you will look forward to every prayer time and will feel bad whenever you miss it*

*PRAYER--A LOVE LANGUAGE* (3)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly."* (Matthew 6:6 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Communication is achieved when the parties involved are on the same page. Until then, communication is not complete. Therefore, when we pray, our aim is not just to clear our chest or speak our minds or express a burden. Rather, when we pray we must take care to consider the conditions or environment conducive or acceptable to God as well.
This simply means taking heed to pray or communicate in a manner that equally agrees with God or meets his terms.
While Matthew 6:6 spells out the place of praying in secret, we need to understand that this speaks more of motive than simply praying in secret. When your motive of praying openly is to score a cheap point before men, then, you are simply on your own.
At the same time, the need for speaking with God in secret underscores the place of prayer as a love language. It is supposed to be a love affair between you and God. A bonding moment.
Even in a marriage relationship, the more you talk and communicate as a couple, the more you understand each other and the more you become a better partner to each other.
The same applies in our relationship with God too. The more we spend quality time in prayer, the more we understand who we are in Christ and the more we are aligned to the plans and purposes of God.
_MEDITATION:_
*The Secret place is the place of nuturing and building intimacy, bonding and boldness with God. Practicing the secret place produces a dynamic Christian life that stands out in the crowd*

*PRAYER--A LOVE LANGUAGE* (2)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed."* (Mark 1:35 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Communication in a relationship is like the heart in a living being. Anything that kills the heart, kills the being. Likewise, anything that kills communication, kills the relationship.
The priority Jesus placed on prayer reveals the love bond between Jesus & His Heavenly Father. He would rather suffer less sleep, than miss the fellowship with his Father.
Before I "met" my wife, one of the failed relationships I experienced, had ended, among other major reasons, for lack of communication. So when I eventually met my wife, and observed that she cherished communication as much as I did, it was one of the many green lights we saw.
God made us love beings for a purpose. One of that purpose, is for us to learn to connect with him as our heavenly Father, intimately & personally.
Prayer is the oxygen of our relationship with God. It is a love language that lubricates our relationship with God, and bring about maturity or growth or bonding that we would otherwise never experience.
_MEDITATION:_
*We love him, because he first loved us.* (1 John 4:19 (KJV))

*DAILY DEW 12/NOVEMBER/2023*
*PRAYER--A LOVE LANGUAGE*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"And when he had sent them away, he departed into a mountain to pray.."* (Mark 6:46 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
At the very heart of it, prayer is communication. It is communication between man and God; between the mortal and the immortal; between human and the divine; the less mighty and the Almighty; the fallible and the infallible; in short, it is communication between YOU and God!
Anyone in love, of all class of persons, understands fully the place and power of communication. Majority of breakups and misunderstandings in relationships, especially marital or romantic relationships, is caused by breakdown or breach in communication. Simple!
When I was courting my wife, for a good time it was a distance relationship. Never would a day pass by, that we won't make time to hear from each other--unless a few understandable exceptions. It was a daily routine. It was usually sometimes around 10pm. And it was so because, we would have addressed all the pressing demands of the day.
Sometimes, the gist would stretch into the night. Sometimes, either of us would sleep off on the other. Sometimes, we waited to see who would end the call first. Sometimes, we just listened to the silence in between. But we usually cherished every moment of it.
Jesus had a custom of making time to pray to His father daily. It was a love affair. It was a ritual to be kept. He could send people away, just so he could spend time with this special person in His life-- God, the Father.
Thus, he left for us a model, a path to follow.
_MEDITATION:_
*Why do we struggle to pray? Is it not a pointer that our communication with God is not understood as a relationship with our heavenly lover?*

*DAILY DEW 11/NOVEMBER/2023*
*WHILE YOU WAIT ON GOD...*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."* (Isaiah 40:31 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
1. Make Peace With the Process
The key during seasons of waiting is not to be conquered by the circumstances but to surrender to God’s will and purpose.
2. Don’t Surrender to Your Surroundings
The Bible tells us to humble ourselves under God’s mighty hand, not our situations (1 Peter 5:6).
Don’t stop trusting God just because time is passing by.
3. Prayer is How We Don’t Waste the Wait
Instead of focusing solely on life goals like marriage or having children, as Christians, our primary focus should be the Lord. Waiting will always feel like a waste of time when we’re not praying.
4. God Answers Us With a Promise Before We See the Miracle
When you’re waiting, you’re hoping for a miracle, but when God gives you a promise, you know you already have the miracle.
_MEDITATION:_
*Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.* (Hebrews 10:35-36 (KJV))
