*The Brevity of Time*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble."* (Job 14:1 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Time is always measured in relation to a person or purpose or thing. Time is counted or measured in reference to a person's life.
Your life is basically made up of time! This is why you take note of your age or years in life.
How old you are, determines how and what people expects of you. When you were a toddler certain things were expected of and excused for you. You could cry anywhere and everyone would understand. When you became a teenager, you were not expected to cry for the same reasons or in the same way a toddler would do.
The design of God is that time is fleeting and passing. Time is brief. Today will soon give way for tomorrow. To therefore appreciate the brevity of life is a mark of wisdom.
One of the people I look up to, speaks a lot about having a "*sense of urgency*". It is basically an understanding that time is short and therefore whatever is right to be done, should be done already rather than delaying same.
Paul achieved so much in life and ministry, contributing so much as 1/3 of the new testament because he strongly believes that time was short.
*You will not achieve as much as you could If you live with the erroneous thinking that there is time!*
When you truly embrace the philosophy that TIME IS SHORT, you will drastically hate procrastinating, wasteful or lazy lifestyle and slow decisions or actions.
_MEDITATION:_
Here is a clear picture of Paul's philosophy when it comes to time:
*"But I say this, brothers: the time is short, that from now on, both those who have wives may be as though they had none; and those who weep, as though they didn’t weep; and those who rejoice, as though they didn’t rejoice; and those who buy, as though they didn’t possess; and those who use the world, as not using it to the fullest. For the mode of this world passes away."* (1 Corinthians 7:29-31(WEB))

*The Illusion of Time*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven"* (Ecclesiastes 3:1 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
There will not always be time! Don't be deceived. You will not always have time. It is an illusion, a deceit of some sort, to believe that you will always have time.
Realize that God has allocated time for each specific things or activities. There is a due time set for different things. You won't always have the time to do today what you should have done yesterday. This is because by the design of life, whenever you miss a particular time for doing something, at the time you return to do that same thing, you actually should be doing something else.
The prodigal son for instance will always have a history of having been way ward. God's mercy and grace will forgive, but that story of him leaving his father and going to live a riotous living will always take a meaningful slot and impact in his life. He can never undo that. That time is wasted and gone forever.
It is therefore a common error to suppose that there is always time. Indeed by mercy, God can grant you uncommon speed that gives you supernatural favour to achieve within a short time, what should take a longer period. However, you cannot at any time actually "recover" any time that you have wasted.
_MEDITATION:_
*"Redeeming the time, because the days are evil."* (Ephesians 5:16 (KJV))
*“Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time."* (Colossians 4:5 (KJV))

*The Weakness That Brings Strength*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled. Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength.* (Daniel 10:3, 8 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
There are paradoxes in life. Also in God's design for His children and His kingdom many paradoxes exist as well.
Hamlet is notorious or popular for saying "I must be cruel to be kind"! How can that be? Does cruelty produce kindness?
In God's Kingdom, certain things appear as contradictions but are simply true and powerful. For instance, Christ was made poor that we might become rich; those who profess to be wise in their own eyes become fools in God's eyes; those who scatter abroad or give generously retain or gather more than those who withhold or hoard their blessings!
In the same vein, we must embrace weakness to become truly strong. God's strength is made perfect in our weakness.
If you come to God as strong, you will first be made weak, so you can truly become strong. And If you come to God as weak, then God makes you truly strong.
In seeking God dilligently, you must embrace the process of weakness. Long waitings on God, fervent prayers, and committed fastings will first weaken you (bodily) so that you can be strengthened spiritually. You must understand this.
Don't be afraid of the body weakness that necessarily follows intense seeking of God's presence. Embrace it. We must go through that "pain" before we can take benefits of the gains of diligently seeking God.
_MEDITATION:_
*“Are you still afraid of seeking God in fastings and prayers because of the physical toll it has on your body? Don't be! Your physical weakness is the temporary down payment for your gain of spiritual stamina and weight!"*

*Available AND USEABLE* (III)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost"* (Acts 9:17 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
In the final analysis, the distinguishing feature of God's men will not be whether they are available or useable or even sendable. The real test is whether they will obey, or do, or comply with received instructions.
It is the consistency of our application of received instructions that will keep us as God's choice option when other divine needs or instruction arise. God does not force people. He naturally goes after those who go after him. Once you prove to be consistent and reliable, God makes more use of you, especially for more bigger assignments that require trusted and faithful hands.
The men who made a mark for God and the men who will make a mark for God, are the men who will take up instructions obediently, even when or especially when it is not their will!
3. He obeyed the instructions setting aside his personal wish or feeling.
It is not funny when the Lord will tell you to go and "sacrifice" your son or leave your job and go to the missions field or marry someone that doesn't quite strike you as your fairy tale queen charming or king charming!
It is not funny when you have to obey God's word to forgive your parents who left you or cared less when growing up or to forgive your spouse who annoyed you with no just cause or to forgive your church member who is always getting on your nerves or saying things that are not nice about you.
It is not funny, when you must go all out to strive to be at peace with people who don't give a hoot.
It is not funny when you have to apologize to people who should be the one apologizing to you all because the Spirit is impressing it upon you to take the initiative.
But that was just how Ananias at first was a bit at a loss as to why God would even want him to go pray for a Saul whose blindness should be an answered prayer.
A man that had a deep relationship with God, like Abraham, he dared to make a subtle objection or clarification at first. God answered him. And he obeyed. When he got there he could call this persecutor of a man, "Brother Saul".
This shows how much of obedience and faith Ananias has in what God has told him about Saul. He knew God too well to bother about doubting the brotherhood or conversion of Saul.

*Available AND USEABLE* (II)
_Key Bible Text:_
*If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.* (2 Timothy 2:21 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Sometimes we read the Bible and almost assume that the characters were actors who were waiting for script or roles to play. How do I mean?
Has it ever occurred to you that Ananias was not jobless. We dont know for sure what his occupation was. Researchers and historians or bible scholars may have plausible ideas but certainly Ananias was not some idle guy waiting for God to speak or for his time to come so he can play his role and go.
2. He made himself both useable & available for God's work/use.
It is not funny but sincerely and practically speaking, you can be:
* available but not be useable; or
* useable but not available; or
* not useable and not available; or
* useable and available.
Many fall into the first three gategories. Few fall into the last. Indeed, many are called but few are chosen.
Ananias the damascus disciple was both available and useable. Remember there was one other Ananias with Saphira, who were available but not useable by God? Oh! You should not forget such lessons!
Your being available is good but not good enough! God wants you to be available AND useable. Or have you forgotten the rich young ruler, who was useable but not available to sell all his possession and follow Jesus?
Or how about the parable of the king who made a marriage for his son? Special guests were useable or fit or counted worthy for the marriage ceremony but were not available? Or what about the commoner from the street who though was available was not dressed for the occassion therefore not useable? (Mathew 22:11-13)
Friends, being available & useable is the goal. A whole lot are either available but not useable or they are useable but not available.
When the Lord called upon Ananias, he answered *"Behold, I am here, Lord."* Does this not remind you of what Samuel eventually learned to answer, from the Priest Eli? Speak Lord for thy servant hears?
*"May the much busyness, hustle and bustle of this generation not render us either unavailable or unuseable for the Lord. Amen."*
_MEDITATION:_
*“And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. AND HE SAID, BEHOLD, I AM HERE, LORD."* (Acts 9:10 (KJV))
