*DAILY DEW 22ND/JUNE/2021* *TIMES, TRENDS & FAITH* _Key Bible Text:_ *"And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?"* (Luke 18:7-8 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ One reason why it seems that majority of Christians on social media by virtue of what they believe, are unserious is that many many serious, stable and balanced believers are NOT on social media. They simply don't have the time or tendency or interest to facebook or tweet or gram etc regularly. I know there are some of you who will read the above and think - Why don't they??? That's what we are talking about!!! Believers need to take over territories!! Any believer who is not on social media is unserious!!! Then they have no right to complain about the wrong influence of the media on......" You'd better not even go there. Some of you who say these things cannot remember the last time you read your Bible or had daily fellowship with God everyday for one week. You don't even know Philemon is a book in the Bible. You cannot remember the last time you heard God....but you are always on social media. You should keep quiet. Even you cannot influence anything the kingdom way. You are probably being influenced and you don't know it These people I'm talking about may not be on Twitter but everyone is the office knows that they fear God. They have several people who have come to know God through them. Some of them have won hundreds of souls to Christ this year, both in the villages and in cities like Lagos. They are always in the place of intercession. Between the office and home, they are praying for one widow or one drug addict they are planning to visit at the weekend. These are Jesus lovers who come online to look for prayer points. They read and receive burdens and not just have a good time. And off they go to groan, for individuals, for God's servants, for the church, for the nation. They simply have no time for tiktok. You may be far more online than them but their impact in Heaven and on earth will outweigh yours by far. It was Elijah who thought he was the last godfearing man standing, and it was God who told him He had seven thousand others. These believers are many. Several of them are on social media, some active and some passive; but there are so many of them who are hardly, if ever on social media, at all - but who are full of grace and understanding and standing for God. *MEDITATION:* *Apart from exclusive groups, social media is the public. It is a public space. It is like walking on the streets. It is not even the church. Apart from crusades and evangelism campaigns, believers don't meet on the streets. For that you have to walk or drive in and enter the meeting place. *DAILY DEW 15TH/JUNE/2021* *REDISCOVERING THE MESSAGE* (VII) _Key Bible Text:_ *"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your heart to the Lord."* (Colossians 3:16) _Bible Insight:_ I think the singing of songs is quite underrated in the Christian community. And we are all in this, so no one is to be blamed for it. Growing up, I saw the singing of songs as merely a prelude to the sermon of the day or just another opportunity to dance and drop my offerings. But looking at the scriptures today, we can see how much of a deal singing songs is in our Christian walk – an integral part of the Christian faith, as we will later see. Just three scriptures to look at, and it will be a wrap. The first one was by Apostle Paul in his letter to the Corinthians. 1 Corinthians 14:15 *"What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also."* Apostle Paul, in this text, shares something profound, howbeit in a subtle way. He seems to attach as much importance to singing as he does to praying, hence, placing them side by side. Understand that singing of songs is not to while away time in our devotional times with the Lord. It is not something we use to warm up in anticipation of the real thing (which could be prayer). By the way, for some, what they see as the main thing is Bible study. But it could amaze you to know that through the art of singing songs, we can get so full of God’s word that it takes over our utterances. See what Apostle Paul wrote to the Colossians 3:16. Is it not amazing? I mean, do you not find it surprising that God's word can come to you through spiritual songs? Paul instructed that we can (and should) use the singing of songs as a tool to teach ourselves God’s word until we become full of it. So, it’s not only through sermons that I get to be filled with God’s word; through songs too. And lastly, in Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, we see how believers in Christ can be filled with the spirit – through the singing of songs. In Ephesians 5:18-19, it instructs, *"And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;"* Again, how does Apostle Paul expect and instruct us to be filled with the Spirit? BY SINGING. It sounds too simple, right? This is why I believe the concept is underrated in the Christian community. But if you’re reading this, you can start to consider ways to keep your mind full of songs that edify. And I’ve not said we can’t listen to songs that entertain us; I’m saying we should pay more attention, that is, give more preference to songs that’ll stir us to pray. Songs that’ll stir us to be conscious of God’s presence and workings in our lives. *MEDITATION:* *This week and beyond, let’s cultivate the practice of “listening intentionally’ to the right kind of songs that’ll spur godly emotions in us. *DAILY DEW 8TH/JUNE/2021* *EQUIPPING YOURSELF FOR OTHERS* _Key Bible Text:_ *"And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;"* (John 17:19-20 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ YOU'RE a solution to your generation. You're an answer to the prayer of your parents. You're an answer to the cry of revival from a local church or group of people. You're someone's making in a sense. Someone took extra mile steps so that you can turn out well, maybe your parents or your teachers, or your pastors or your mentors or even all of the above. Therefore, you are not permitted to live for self. You must equip yourself for the sake of your generation. Your salvation is not for your sake alone. Your seriousness with God, your studies, your purpose and your calling is not for your good alone. Your dedication to your work, is not for your selfish wants to be satisfied alone. You are to be equipped for the sake of those whose future, salvation and deliverance and prosperity depends on you. Jesus had to seek sanctification for the sake of his disciples, from the twelve down to everyone of us today that believe in His name. If Jesus could carry on till the end, because He realized that you and I and the entire world, depend on His sacrifice, His sanctification and his assignment's fulfilment, how much more you and I? We can't afford to live selfish and direction-less lives. That habit of lying, that spirit of fornication, that spirit of breaking other people's heart through your unseriousness, that spirit of malice and anger, that spirit of pornography and masturbation, is actually not dealing with you alone. If you don't sanctify yourself, you will pass unto your children, and several others who will look up to you, the same poor brand of Christian faith and lifestyle. Unless we arise, and overcome that besetting failure in morals, habits and lifestyle, we are going to become a poor and bad example of leaders, parents, and believers. For the sake of your generation, arise from your slumber. Arise from your un-seriousness with God. For the sake of your children, arise from your lack of focus and ambition. *DAILY DEW 1ST/JUNE/2021* *MY PRAYER FOR NIGERIA* (II) _Key Bible Text:_ *Drop down, ye heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness: let the earth open, and let them bring forth salvation, and let righteousness spring up together; I the LORD have created it.* (Isaiah 45:8 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ Lord, Nigeria is where you placed some of us to occupy till you return, any development that will hinder the progress of the Gospel and our ability to live for your glory, Lord arrest such development and deliver your people. Every man or woman in leadership, that refuses to do justice, that sheds innocent blood and encourages insecurity, Lord, let them eat their own flesh and drink their own blood, unless they repent. Any politician who insists on using deceit to win Elections, and who encourages political unrest & violence, Lord cause them to know sudden calamity unless the repent. Lord, every Leader whom your mercy have uplifted but they have failed to represent you & do justice, Lord from tonight, render them restless until and unless they repent and do the needful. Any politician who is in partnership (either by omission or commission) with bokoharam, unknown gunmen, bandits, kidnappers, and their likes, but they pretend they are fighting insecurity, Lord, Let sudden calamity befall them unless they repent. Lord, in every way the church in Nigeria have failed to represent you, in every way, we have failed to do your will, we repent and we ask for your mercy. Lord, every hidden plan to unleash bloodbath and disrupt political and economic development in all or any part of Nigeria, Lord, arrest the evil agenda and overrule it by your mercy.! Lord, every leader in the political and religious space, failing to speak against injustice of the government either for fear or favor, Father, seize their peace and progress until and unless they repent and do the needful. Lord, every citizen of Nigeria, whose nonchalance have contributed to the rot in this country, Lord awaken us in your mercy and cause all hands to be on deck. Lord, in any way I have personally contributed to the problem of this country, I repent and ask for mercy to do the needful from henceforth. Lord, let your kingdom agenda prevail in Nigeria. Lord, let your will be done in Nigeria as it is in heaven. All these I ask, in Jesus name. Amen. *DAILY DEW 25TH/MAY/2021* *PRAYER & POWER* _Key Bible Text:_ *Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.* (James 5:16 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ There is a great and direct link between prayer and power. There is a great effect produced when prayer is backed by righteous living. No wonder James began by requesting that we confess and do away with sins. Goodnews version renders the b part of James 5:16 as follows *"The prayer of a good person has a powerful effect."* There is no doubt about prayer leading to power. Many reasons abound to this conclusion. An account in Matthew 17:14- 21 readily comes to mind. A man brought an epileptic son of his to Jesus. He explained that the disciples couldn't heal the boy. Jesus immediately healed the boy. Surprised, the disciples came to Jesus asking why they couldn't deal with the boy's case and Jesus mentioned faith as a factor but proceeded to add that you need prayer and fasting to deal with that kind of challenge. By saying so, Jesus linked power to prayer and fasting. Both in bible times and from the acts of apostles till date, men and women of power have been men who gave themselves to prayers and fasting. Jesus was no exception. Elijah too. Moses too. The apostles too. You too!? Prayer is potent in the provocation of power. Prayer of a disciplined believer is even more potent. The challenge is how many of us are prayer faithfuls?! How many of us live a consistent life of holiness? God can do so much through a man who lives right and prays so much. Are you that kind of believer?!
