*RECEIVING THE TEACHINGS OF YOUR PASTOR* (II)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us!"* (2 Timothy 1:13-14)
_Bible Insight:_
The teachings and instructions coming from the pulpit of your local Church are sacred. They are to be received, treated and handled as such.
They're the words of God and should be regarded as such. Anything less than this will remove the efficacy of it in our lives.Â
The Apostle instructed Timothy to regard the words he spoke to him as sacred.Â
Timothy was told by his Pastor (Paul) that all the words he heard from him must be received and held on to. He was to take deliberate steps to keep what he received.Â
These words are slippery and can slip away after we have received them. So just receiving is not enough. Purposeful actions must be taken to keep what was received.Â
If these words are mere words or common words will such an instruction be given? Never trivialize what you're been taught.Â
The teachings of your Pastor are a trust committed to you. You’re to hold fast to it. Keep them by the help of the Holy Spirit.Â
It's so vital and important that you'll need the Holy Spirit to help you keep them well. You only protect treasures. If we're been told to protect the teachings of our man of God, it means those words are treasures.Â
Satan wants to steal it. You must not allow him. Hold fast to them and keep them jealously. You remember the parable of the sower in Matt 13:18-23?
The first step to holding fast these sound words is by listening attentively while teaching and instruction is going on. You can't hold fast or keep something you don't know about because you didn't hear about it.Â
The second step is to trap it by writing it down. Make good comprehensive notes in Church. You can't hold fast to something you can't lay hold of.
Then keep your notes well. Don't throw them around as though they're just Chemistry or Biology notes. The way you treat your Church notebook tells me how much you value God's word.Â
Church Is a school where we learn about Christ. Take this school seriously because it affects your eternity.
If the apostles didn't hold fast and kept the teachings of their Pastor (Jesus), we wouldn't have anything to base our faith on today.Â
The next generation will suffer if we fail to hold fast what we are receiving today (2Tim.2:2).
_MEDITATION:_
*"Paul describes the teachings of your Pastor as sound words and good things. Is that how you see your Pastor's words?"*

*Prayer Grasps Eternity* (II)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit...Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice."* (Psalms 34:18; 51:8 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
This world hits the trail for hell with a speed that makes our fastest plane look like a tortoise; yet alas, few of us can remember the last time we missed our bed for a night of waiting upon God for a world-shaking revival. Our compassions are not moved.
We mistake the scaffolding for the building. Present-day preaching, with its pale interpretation of divine truths, causes us to mistake action for unction, commotion for creation, and rattles for revivals.
*The secret of praying is praying in secret. A sinning man will stop praying, and a praying man will stop sinning.* We are beggared and bankrupt, but not broken, nor even bent.
Prayer is profoundly simple and simply profound. ‘‘Prayer is the simplest form of speech that infant lips can try,’’ and yet so sublime that it outranges all speech and exhausts man’s vocabulary. A Niagara of burning words does not mean that God is either impressed or moved. One of the most profound of Old Testament intercessors had no language—‘‘Her lips moved, but her voice was not heard.’’ No linguist here! There are ‘‘groanings which cannot be uttered.’’
Are we so substandard to New Testament Christianity that we know not the historical faith of our fathers (with its implications and operations), but only the hysterical faith of our fellows? Prayer is to the believer what capital is to the business man.
Can any deny that in the modern church setup the main cause of anxiety is money? Yet that which tries the modern churches the most, troubled the New Testament Church the least. Our accent is on paying, theirs was on praying. When we have paid, the place is taken; when they had prayed, the place was shaken!
_MEDITATION:_
*"In the matter of New Testament, Spirit-inspired, hell-shaking, world-breaking prayer, never has so much been left by so many to so few. For this kind of prayer there is no substitute. We do it— or die!"*

*THE DEMANDS OF CONSECRATION* (II)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"I AM CRUCIFIED WITH CHRIST: NEVERTHELESS I LIVE; YET NOT I, BUT CHRIST LIVETH IN ME: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."* (Galatians 2:20 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
I sat beside this woman carrying a sick looking child in the bus and with looks of despondency and rejection, she began making a call to someone. She was pleading with the person to borrow her a certain amount of money which was half of her monthly salary to feed her family and treat her child. This was ending of last year.
The Holy Spirit prompted me to ask her what was the amount she was trying to borrow (half of her salary) and to my shock it was the very and the exact amount I had there with me.
Then the Spirit went ahead to tell me to release that very amount to her which I had planned to use it to purchase certain vitals for my home and as I did, the woman's countenance seemed like the very transitioning between night and day; it was all bright now.
It was a painful sacrifice to me but it did serve a divine purpose.
I realized that the Consecrated man no longer has the final say over his time, talent and his treasures. They are all the Lord's. The call to Consecration is the Call to death to the self life. The consecrated man releases to the Lord whatever he bids him to.
Hearing God is one thing and acting on what you heard is another thing. The consecrated man both hears and acts.
Even if he builds an empire in time, any day the Holy One of Israel says, "hand it over", that is the day he parts with that earthly possession.
*He has not only conquered greed but has also conquered attachment to the mundane. If He bids us to the plough, there we go and labour in His vineyard, If He bids us to the altar, there we go and are burnt as living Sacrifices.*
_MEDITATION:_
*"It is time beloved, It is time to Consecrate ourselves and become living Sacrifices to God alone. Before us must be one chief goal, to become THE CONSECRATED MAN or to be nothing"*

*THE THREE KINDS OF PEOPLE IN EVERY TEAM* (III)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Only 300 of the men drank from their hands. All the others got down on their knees and drank with their mouths in the stream. The Lord told Gideon, "With these 300 men I will rescue you and give you victory over the Midianites. Send all the others home." So Gideon collected the provisions and rams' horns of the other warriors and sent them home. But he kept the 300 men with him. The Midianite camp was in the valley just below Gideon."* (Judges 7:6-8 (NLT))
_Bible Insight:_
The job of leadership is to identify those with passion for the vision, and empowering them to do better. This is usually done by removing or reducing internal negative influence on one hand. And on the other hand, by giving the motivated members more room and tools to express themselves.
*2. The Motivated and Passionate People:*
These ones are the motivated and passionate members of the team. They go the extra mile and they take the work as a personal business. The wins of the team are considered a personal achievement while the losses of the team are considered by a personal loss by these set of people.
They are out to succeed and to labour until they get the mission accomplished. They don't accept no for an answer and they don't give up at the slightest provocation. On the contrary, they lose their comfort and will never rest until the purpose of the team is achieved. They take personal joy and fulfilment in depriving themselves for the sake of the general good of the group.
They see opportunity in every difficulty, and they turn every excuse to uses. They don't wait to be motivated or encouraged, they are self motivated and self encouraged. They are ever ready to sacrifice in order to see the success of the team.
They are the sort of people that every leadership desires and delight to have. When you have such, treasure them and as much as possible, remove everything that can become an encumbrance in their way, especially administrative wise. Rather, give them more feathers to fly. Like Gideon, collect "the provisions and rams' horns of the other warriors", and give such to the motivated and passionate few.
These are the kind people that God delivers the victory to any team, church, organization, etc. The tower of babel project was comprised of such people until God came down to divide them through language barrier. Except God stops such people, any team or group or church or organization with these kinds of motivated and passionate members and workers always stands out as a successful one.
_MEDITATION:_
*"Make up your mind, if you will join any group, belong to any church, or be a part of any organization, ensure you are the motivated and passionate type in the group. Otherwise, do them a favour and stay away, and save the leadership and the rest of the team, the avoidable trouble."*

*DAILY DEW 7/FEBRUARY/2023*
*THE THREE KINDS OF PEOPLE IN EVERY TEAM* (II)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"But the Lord told Gideon, "There are still too many! Bring them down to the spring, and I will test them to determine who will go with you and who will not." When Gideon took his warriors down to the water, the Lord told him, "Divide the men into two groups. In one group put all those who cup water in their hands and lap it up with their tongues like dogs. In the other group put all those who kneel down and drink with their mouths in the stream."* (Judges 7:4-5 (NLT))
_Bible Insight:_
Everyone who is a part of a team is not necessarily supposed to be a part of that team/group/or organization. So we take note of this second group of people that may be a part of a team but are not best fitted to be in such group. The role of leadership is fine tuning and helping such people find their best place to serve.
*2. The Complacent and Relaxed People:*
These ones are the just too comfortable and relaxed people. They don't want to be bothered so much. They don't see anything to improve upon. They just want to be part of the team, without going the extra mile to make a positive impact. They are not really crazy about what is going on in the team. They are just fine belonging to the team whether or not they get their desired results or purpose of the team.
The problem with this set of people, is that they don't bring their A game to the team. They don't want to be disturbed. They are good with excuses. They are the ones with most of the wrong attitude towards the work. And they won't necessarily quit the team, or the work unless you make them to.
The challenge of leadership is to actually be sensitive to these types of people. If they are open to correction, (which is hardly, the case) you can groom them to become better members. Otherwise, don't hesitate to redirect them to another place or unit. Wrong attitude to the mission of the team, is more dangerous than not having enough hands to run the vision of the team. Few members with the right attitude will always defeat a crowd full of wrong attitude.
_MEDITATION:_
*"An effective leadership is one that is sensitive and serious enough to identify those with wrong attitude and either send them out of the team or correct them. Never should the wrong attitude be allowed to fester."*
