_Bible Insight:_

What if Joseph did not save 20% of the supply of food of Egypt in those seven years of plenty?

The whole world, not just Egypt, would have perished.

When Joseph interpreted that dream to pharaoh, pharaoh’s cabinet members and palace staff were all there. They heard the meaning of the dream and the suggestion Joseph gave on how to prepare for the 7 years of famine. Yet, none of them applied that suggestion to their lives. They all ate like hoodlums during the seven years of plenty until famine landed.

Life is in seasons.

When your season of plenty comes, as much as you would want it to always be there, experience teaches us that it is not always there. What you do with the plenty in the season of plenty will determine your quality of life when the next season comes.

Don’t spend all your income. Don’t suddenly change your wardrobe and car and apartment just because you got a bump in your salary or landed one contract.

This is a simple truth that many find hard to live by. Save 20% of your income at the least. Problems no dey finish. Good things no dey finish too.

Don’t live above your means. Don’t live to make a statement to those you believe thought you wouldn’t make it. Don’t make God seem unfaithful to you. That won’t be fair.

_Bible Insight:_

David didn't know he was going to be the king of Israel until Samuel showed up and anointed him. Nobody drummed it into his ears to discover or find his purpose. He simply loved and lived for God, obeying and serving Jesse his father and polishing his skills - playing the harp and slinging.

Today, we call these things skills but I don't think David saw them like that. He probably learnt how to sling stones as a way of protecting his sheep from the lions and the bears. He played the harp as a way of entertaining himself and his fellow shepherds while they were at the bush. He wasn't doing any of these for the palace cos he didn't know he would ever be there, but he did them well. He simply made the most of his situations.

He didn't let the anticipation of what tomorrow could bring deny him the joy and glory of really living today. Yet, God had His eyes on him and when the right time came, He, God, began to move men and materials in his favor. So, I'll enjoin you to do your best today. Forget about tomorrow; the Lord Jesus said: today's trouble is sufficient for it. The best way to really prepare for the future is to live today well.

*DAILY DEW 20TH/NOVEMBER/2021*

*ON FINDING PURPOSE*

_Bible Insight:_

One of my younger friends said she was having issues with discovering her purpose and this has lingered.

And I said this to her:

"Scripture says: whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might. It is important that you don't get fixated on finding one special thing or purpose for your life. God is working things out for you so you can trust him to orchestrate events that will move you to the expected end he has for you.

He is the one that said: I know the plans I have for you, plans for good and not of evil, to bring you to an expected end. He is the one that will bring you to that end. So, I will need you to simply relax in His everlasting arms and trust that He is working things out for you. You simply have to do today's work very well. Bloom where you are currently planted. Be the best at the thing you are doing NOW."

I find that many young people have been inundated with so much teaching about finding or discovering purpose that they end up marking time, wondering endlessly what their purpose is. Many do not do well in the course they are studying now in school because they have convinced themselves that that course may not be in line with their purpose.

This is deception.

I have someone doing her NYSC in my office now. She graduated with First Class Honours from Covenant University from the department of Microbiology. You know what? She is not interested in practicing Microbiology. She is into digital media and has a great YouTube Channel already with close to 10,000 subscribers.

She did well in Microbiology even when she knew she wasn’t going to pursue a career in Microbiology. She simply bloomed where she was planted. She did with all her might what her hand found to do at the time.

_MEDITATION:_
*The Lord's prayer says, 'give us this day our daily bread.' Our walk with God is a daily walk. Wake up each morning and ask Him to guide you. That's all that's important. Even if He shows you the entire nine yards, can you go the journey on your own?*

Prayer is the key to the success of missions, evangelism, soul winning and everything that Christ came to establish. We will not shy away from the work of prayer and fasting.

Fasting alongside prayer causes us to enter into the center of the will of God. Jesus himself approved of fasting as a key to achieving greater things in the work of the kingdom. (Mathew 17:21; Mark 9:29)

Cornelius attracted the attention of God when He engaged in fasting and prayers. (Acts 10:30)

Jesus began His missionary ministry with fasting and prayers (Matthew 4:2)

Paul missionary ministry was birthed on the altar of prayer and fasting (Act 13:2-3)

Paul's missionary ministry was a great success as he engaged often in fasting and prayers, among others ( 2 Corin. 6:5; 11:27)

*POSITIVE PROVOCATION*

_Bible Insight:_

Generally speaking, to provoke someone is to do something that is disapproved of. Provocation is *"action or speech that makes someone angry, especially deliberately."* It also means *"the action of arousing sexual desire... *DAILY DEW 19TH/NOVEMBER/2021*

*POSITIVE PROVOCATION*

_Bible Insight:_

Generally speaking, to provoke someone is to do something that is disapproved of. Provocation is *"action or speech that makes someone angry, especially deliberately."* It also means *"the action of arousing sexual desire or interest, especially deliberately."* However, in Hebrews 10:24 there is another kind of provocation that is introduced. It is one that does good, glorifies God, and creates a pull for others to do good and glorify God. This is a positive kind of provocation.

How do you provoke another to love and to good works? The first thing is to practice love and good works. Be an example of what it means to walk in love. Be an example of doing good works. Dorcas was an excellent example. When her name was mentioned for the first time in the Bible it had a unique introduction: *"Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did."* (Acts 9:36 (KJV))

What can you do to stay provoked to do good works and to walk in love? Feed on the examples of men and women who lived as striking examples of love and good works. Don't fall into the temptation of saying things like "That's their own life. Me I can't come and do that kind of thing. If you do me good, I will do you good" Rather, when you hear or read of outstanding examples of love and good works, ask the Lord to help you go and do likewise.

*And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.* (Galatians 6:9-10 (KJV))

In concluding this series on the power of the renewed mind, let's look... *DAILY DEW 18TH/NOVEMBER/2021*

*THE POWER OF THE RENEWED MIND* (The End)

_Key Bible Text:_
*"In conclusion, my friends, fill your minds with those things that are good and that deserve praise: things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and honorable."*

_Bible Insight:_

In concluding this series on the power of the renewed mind, let's look at additional practices we must internalize and make a part of our day to day activities. We can renew our mind in doing the following:

4. By deliberate intentional thought management:

Philippians 4:8 (Amp) says *"For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them]."*

Guard your heart with all diligence. What enters your mind determines the output of your life. It is YOUR responsibility to manage your thought process. It is up to you to ensure that what goes into your mind, will be in compliance with Philippians 4:8. When you do this, you are mastering the practice of renewing your mind.

5. By discovering who you are in Christ.

Find all the "IN HIM" scripture, meditate on them and practice their reality. Let's take Romans 8:37 (KJV), it says *"Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us."* This means YOU are MORE THAN CONQUERORS. This means you are victorious over the vicissitudes of life.

Another example, is found in Romans 8:32 (KJV), and it says *"He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?"* This simply means in and through Christ, you have access to all things that God can offer! Hallelujah!

This too is important: 1 Corinthians 1:30 (KJV) says *"But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:"* You are an explanation of God's wisdom in Christ. You are also a carrier of the wisdom of God through Christ. Same thing for wisdom, applies to righteousness, sanctification and redemption.

6. By choosing the right association.

Wrong people with great potential get derailed by wrong association. Don't ever allow your mind renewal get derailed or distracted by being involved with the wrong association.

_MEDITATION:_
*Make this declaration: My mind is renewed and my mind continues to undergo daily renewal treatment as I apply myself to the word and to obey the Spirit of God in all things in Jesus name. Amen*

*THE POWER OF THE RENEWED MIND* (IV)

*And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord* (Ephesians 5:18-19 (KJV))

By doing all of the following, we... *DAILY DEW 17TH/NOVEMBER/2021*

*THE POWER OF THE RENEWED MIND* (IV)

_Key Bible Text:_

_Bible Insight:_

By doing all of the following, we keep our minds renewed and by so doing, we keep our life transformed:

1. Speak to yourself in Psalms, Hymns and spiritual songs. (Ephesians 5:19.)

The atmosphere you create around you, become your reality. When you sing songs that take lyrics from Psalms, and Hymns that tell you about Elohim, and spiritual songs that get you going strong in God, you will automatically place your mind on some sort of auto renewal.

Conversely, when you sing songs that bring the world and its temptations alive, and you dance to beats and music videos where twerking, smoking and clubbing is the order of the day, you have created an atmosphere that's a strategic minus as long as engaging mind renewal is concerned.

2. Develop an intimate fellowship with God.

The intimacy of fellowship is what defines a strong relationship. You can have a relationship that is going no where but once you exercise yourself to a deep and consistent fellowship I.e. Koinonia, you know that relationship is going to another level. Don't just be in a relationship with God, rather deepen your fellowship/communion with God. Then, you will have a relationship that really help you achieve mind renewal.

3. Nurture the habit of constantly and always speaking in tongues. (Romans 8:26)

The baptism in tongues is not a badge to show you are baptized but a tool to service your fellowship with God. Your relationship with God is an empty container but your fellowship with God is the content. When you fill your fellowship with God with great acts like speaking in tongues (among others as already mentioned) you create a strong mind renewal atmosphere.

*IN YOUR mind renewal journey, you can not grow beyond the atmosphere and activities you constantly engage in*

You will not be disqualified from being in God's eternal kingdom, as long as you have been... *DAILY DEW 16TH/NOVEMBER/2021*

*THE POWER OF THE RENEWED MIND* (III)

_Key Bible Text:_

_Bible Insight:_

You will not be disqualified from being in God's eternal kingdom, as long as you have been infused with the new nature of Christ. Everyone born of the Spirit and the word, will not be disqualified as long as they do not neglect the practice of mind renewal. How can you practice mind renewal?

Again, remember that It is not enough to answer altar call, you must be transformed. It is not enough to answer or attend full membership class or believers class or workers class, or even serve in a unit, or be a pastor, but you must also be transformed. And for you to be transformed, you must daily practice mind renewal. How do you practice mind renewal?

Before you give yourself a pat in the back, thinking you are not the type that needs mind renewal, please pay attention. Do you know that, for instance habouring hatred or jealousy or envy etc are all evidence of the need of mind renewal? Mind renewal is not for only those you think commit some very known sins. Mind renewal is for all believers. Mind renewal is the way to effectively put off the old man and put on the new nature.

One of the ways to carry out mind renewal is by feeding on the word. This means making time to daily read, listen to, or discuss the word. This is done both by personal reading/study and by group or corporate reading and discussion of the word.

Another way to renew your mind, is by meditating on the word. To meditate is to brood or reflect upon.

*THE POWER OF THE RENEWED MIND* (II)

_Key Bible Text:_

_Bible Insight:_

It is heart breaking to imagine that we are living in times when people when contemplating business, would rather not deal with persons who introduce themselves as "Pastors", "Church Members" or "Born Again Christians" 🥺

The urgent need of the hour is to return to deliberate and intentional mind renewal. The old man or old nature has been crucified with Christ but until you renew your mind, you will not live out the reality of the crucified life. The old man is dead or truly crucified to the extent that you engage in mind renewal.

Mind renewal is a daily and deliberate exercise that calls for intentional and proactive steps. A passive or casual believer will remain under the sway of the old nature/man until there is a consistent practice of mind renewal.

You should ask yourself, "How do I renew my mind"? This question is one you should take seriously and until you get the answer and start practicing them, you are not yet freed from the old nature. Living subject to the old nature, amount to living in the flesh. Living in the flesh, even as a believer, attracts a grave consequence-- disqualification from the Kingdom of God! 🥺

_Bible Insight:_

The tragedy of modern Christianity is that people are born again but are not transformed; convicted but not converted; church members but not disciples.

What does _renew_ mean? To renew means to bring new life into something; renew means to start over again. To renew means to bring up to date. To renew your mind, means to overhaul, recondition, regenerate, rejuvenate, remodel, restore your mind.

This mind renewal is the missing factor and the reason many so called believers are still lacking behind in being like Christ.

There are many evidences of unrenewed minds today in the body of Christ. This is exemplified in many ways today. Including but not limited to accounts such as so called christian brothers will defrauding one another; so called christian marriages being reported as having over 80% of them contributing to divorce cases in Nigeria; and many other unpleasant accounts.

Ephesians 4:20-21 (KJV), states *"But ye HAVE NOT SO LEARNED CHRIST;If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:"* Learning Christ means to unlearn the old man or nature and put on the new man through mind renewal.

_MEDITATION:_
*"That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;"* (Ephesians 4:22-23 (KJV))

*Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)* (Hebrews 10:23 (KJV))

_Bible Insight:_

The times when we live in, it is not just enough to start a good cause. Holding on till the end is the ultimate proof of success. When we come to the Knowledge of Christ, it is not a one time decision. We must continue to press on, we must continue to abide, and we must continue to follow hard after Christ. Following Christ sincerely is like moving against the tides, and only those who hold fast without wavering, will be able to survive the host of temptations and distractions without caving in.

Hebrews 10 verse 21 began by reminding us that we have a great high priest over the house of God. For which reason, verse 22 calls us to draw near with a true heart fully assured and our hearts and bodies washed with pure water. We have explained these previously. However, we are also called upon to hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering.

For anything God calls our attention to, there is a reason. Looking critically at the way the world is today, (just as the Word of God has earlier prophesied should be) if we must succeed as believers, we must apply both verse 22 of Hebrews 10 and verse 23. There are certain things to be understood of this charge in verse 23.

Amplified version of Hebrews 10:23, says *"So let us seize and hold fast and retain without wavering the hope we cherish and confess and our acknowledgement of it, for He Who promised is reliable (sure) and faithful to His word."*

As we can see, what King James version calls "Faith", Amplified calls "Hope". Using the two words interchangeably in this context does not remove the meaning but rather adds to the meaning as we shall see later.

_MEDITATION:_
*Let us hold on firmly to the hope we profess, because we can trust God to keep his promise.* (Hebrews 10:23 (GNB))

Modern religion: Squint. Pucker. On fleek. Slay. Backside. Frontside. Sideside. Slay. Six packs. Beard gang. Pepper 'em gang. Slay. Earring, nosering, tongue-ring. Slay. Sag. Show boxers. You kill'd it. Slay. You've gad'it. Flaunt it. Gram it. Slay.

Christian faith: Your body? God's temple. It is not your palette. Your beauty should reflect His glory. And not your own pleasure. Don't call undue attention to yourself. Let modesty instead be your plain style; and make your smile your main signature. Be different. Be decent. Be serious. Be virtuous. Be sober. Be free.
