_Bible Insight:_
In 2021, a Pastor in one of the largest denominations in the world is still burying bibles under the foundation of the church building saying the church is standing on the word of God.

We are still in such a bad shape doctrinally because we have resisted corrections all these years.

No one who makes progress in the word does so by being stubborn and proud against the word.

When I met the word, it disrupted all I ever believed. I had even seen more miracles - blind eyes opening, lame walking, and creative miracles where I come from before then! But I submitted to the word because it is the Word!

Till date, show me in scriptures and that is the final. I mean there are many portions that aren't grey at all; it's black and white.

A man whose doctrine is so errant but prophesies a lot, you receive him.

A man whose handling of the word of God is misleading but releases songs that go viral, you celebrate and receive Him.

A man who has misrepresented God so much, making Him look like a money greedy deity who only blesses those who have what to give him, you receive Him and honor Him because he prays so much and works signs and wonders.

A man who preaches the word and points out errors that misrepresent the Christian faith? He is to be ignored. He is a plague. A divisive man. A trouble maker. You know what? That says so much about us as a people. We really do not honor the word.

God will judge us for receiving every other gift in the body of Christ apart from the ministries of those who have been sent to teach, and then to correct, rebuke, and straighten us up in how we handle the scriptures, because we are a proud people.

*Once Saved, Always Saved?*

*For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.*
(Hebrews 10:26-27 (KJV))

_Bible Insight:_

The logic of once saved always saved... *DAILY DEW 8TH/DECEMBER/2021*

*Once Saved, Always Saved?*

_Key Bible Text:_
*For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.*

_Bible Insight:_

The logic of once saved always saved is that God is merciful, forgiving, and that he would not send Jesus to die for sins, and afterwards still punish believers for their sins.

Another related logic is that God hates divorce. Since Christ is the groom of the church, His bride, God will not therefore divorce her, no matter what she does. Sound? Right? Well, let's see.

Truth is, the above logic, and others that is being used to support the idea of once saved, always saved, is so sweet and believable that many easily fall for it. Why are these logic so effective in deceiving many? It is because it is a mixture of truth and not so true ideas of scripture.

What's the truth? God indeed forgives and is merciful. He also is a divorce hating God. However, what is not so true? God also said ahead of time, that he is a consuming fire, and that he hates sin and that the wages of sin is death. The same Bible that teaches the half truth of these logic, also debunks the other not so true half.

When it comes to this issue, you must desist from rationalization. Instead, you must stick to what is written. As you can see from Hebrews 10:26-27, it clearly shows that when believers return to their sins, after having received Christ, they are liable to face the same consequences facing those who do not receive Christ-- perishing eternally.

*"If the penalty for breaking the law of Moses is physical death, what do you think will happen if you turn on God's Son, spit on the sacrifice that made you whole, and insult this most gracious Spirit? This is no light matter. God has warned us that he'll hold us to account and make us pay. He was quite explicit: "Vengeance is mine, and I won't overlook a thing," and, "God will judge his people." _Bible Insight:_

The believer's life must be measured by two indices like the two sides of a coin- inward... *DAILY DEW 7TH/DECEMBER/2021*

*The Big Day Approaching*

_Key Bible Text:_

_Bible Insight:_

The believer's life must be measured by two indices like the two sides of a coin- inward and outward dimensions. The inward dimension is best known to God and yourself however the outward dimension is to be appreciated by those around you. We can as well say that the outward dimension of the believer's life is for public consumption.

One of the things that scriptures teaches is that you as a believer must never assume that you don't need others in your growth and walk with God. As a matter of fact everything you are in the inward dimension means nothing if there is no correct outward dimension. The only exception to this rule is that God makes a big deal of our inward dimensions as much as he does of our outward dimensions.

Most times people want to care less about their outward dimensions, claiming that only the inward dimensions matters. However, God who alone accesses and assesses the inward dimensions, calls us to ensure correct outward dimensions.

One of these correct approach to outward dimensions, is to never neglect the place of corporate worship, corporate edification, corporate service and corporate growth. You are to be a part of the physical gathering of the brethren. Despite the "issues" that sometimes befalls the church system, there is no known scriptural basis and justification for any true follower of Jesus to be exempted from corporate worship.

As a matter of fact, we are told to ensure that we are gathering habitually with other believers, in worship and exhortation and service and growth as we see the coming of Christ drawing nearer than when we first believed.

_Bible Insight:_

I must thank my Pastor, K. C. Onyegbuna whose words kept repeating in my heart as I thought about this topic-- choose your pain!

Face this fact of life, you can't run away from pain in life completely. The rich, the poor, the educated, the illiterate, the middle class, the classless class, etc are all subject to pass through pain at certain points in life. Life is never painless.
In fact, pains are the building blocks of life. Yes.

Job 14:1 (KJV) says, *"Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble."* Indeed, trouble and pain are the twins of life. As much as we dislike them, they hold the key to greatness in life. #Selah

In as much as pain is inseparable from life, we can choose which or what kind of pain we must endure. God has given us the power of choice. A man who does not face the pain of discipline, hard work and some measure of stress, will definitely face the pain of regret and poverty.

Hence we must choose to go through pain deliberately and voluntarily, so that we don't go through pain forcefully. Jesus did exactly that. He chose to suffer the cross, shame and pain because he was poised for the crown of glory ahead of him.

If Jesus did not escape pain, no one can. The best we can do like Jesus, is to choose what kind of pain we must endure.

*FAITHFUL THANKSGIVING*

_Bible Insight:_

The Bible makes a big deal of thanksgiving, especially to God. God demands faithfulness in thanksgiving. Having faith enough to give thanks and giving thanks dutifully is what God deserves. He demands nothing less.

Think about God who created you. Does He feel entitled or rather would we be ingrates to not shower thanks and praises unto His name? God does not feel entitled, rather we are duty bound to pour our thanksgiving to His name.

Likewise, because generally we like to adore or be nice to those who we perceive as having been nice to us, we sometimes want to have a special reason before we thank God. What we must realize is that we can't be nicer than God. We only need to deliberately count our blessings to see how faithful and nice God has been.

We look at several daily miracles as common place: you slept, you woke up; you went out, and returned safely; you have needs and they are met one way or the other, fully or in part, and the list is endless. Indeed, God has been faithful.

_Key Bible Text:_

_Bible Insight:_

When Christmas is littered with new clothes, shoes, business boom and increase in commercial activities, ritual killings rumours, kidnappings, pick pocketing, one chance encounters, missing persons alert, Christmas rice and chickens to mention but a few, we easily miss the real focus of Christmas-- the Christ that was born to die, to rise and to reign eternally.

We must never forget that Christmas is not about an opportunity to travel to the village with our latest show off biz efforts. Actually, we must however travel from John 3:16 to 1 John 3:16: Jesus threw a huge challenge at you and I, if we are truly his followers and not just some bunch of fun lovers, mistaking church for Christ, while also mistaking the Christ for the Chris, who happens to be our neighbor or some old school mate.

Jesus indeed laid a different and more challenging rule with his life before he died on the cross. He said you ought to love as He himself loved- Not as you will like to love. In fact, not even as you will like to be loved. By the advent of John 13:34, Jesus overruled Mark 12:31 and everywhere else the position the commandment therein was contained.

*And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.* (Mark 12:3 (KJV)) Please note this. This commandment along with the first part that says we should love God were the greatest commandments until Jesus began by saying, A NEW COMMANDMENT....

Jesus was fully aware that He was about to lay a new rule down. He was about to shift the goal post right in the middle of the match and like it or not, He had every right to!

_MEDITATION:_
*When next someone says "Love your neighbour as you love yourself" Tell them that is the old rule. The new rule is to love as Jesus loves. May we receive grace to do likewise. Amen.*

*As Jesus or As yourself?*

_Key Bible Text:_
*A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.*
(John 13:34 (KJV))

_Bible Insight:_

One of the most outstanding things about the Christmas season is the birth of Christ. While we must remember or even celebrate this blessed season, we must never forget the spirit behind God's move and decision in sending His son Jesus. The answer to the why of Jesus' coming to earth is simply, LOVE.

John 3:16 may have been abused but it cannot be overused or overemphasized. Jesus is God's decision born out of love. "For God so loved", he couldn't help but "gave His only begotten son". And even that had a reason, "that whosoever believes in Him, should not perish but have everlasting life". So God's love in sending Jesus was not exactly "reckless" but absolutely intentional and expedient.

This love of God is under examination today because when John 13:34 is read, we do not always readily appreciate the depth and height and intensity of this new command Jesus gave us. In John 13:34 (Amplified) Jesus said, *"I give you a new commandment: that you should love one another. _Just as I have loved you, so you too should love one another."*_

Please do not miss the point in a hurry. This love in this new commandment is very well qualified and defined. It is love as Jesus loves. And that's quite huge.

_MEDITATION:_
*Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.* (1 John 3:16 (KJV))

_Bible Insight:_

*The Fear That Is Forbidden*

_Key Bible Text:_
*For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.*

_Bible Insight:_

There is a fear that encourages timidity, cowardice, lack of selfconfidence (Christ based confidence), tendency to quit, low self esteem etc. This fear, we are reminded, has no place in our recreated human spirit. This fear has nothing to do with the fear of God, which teaches us to walk away from ungodliness and walk confidently in righteousness.

Paul charged his son Timothy, do not cower in fear. This fear breaks marriages. This fear hinders business owners from taking calculated risks. This fear demotivates. This fear triggers self defeat. This fear makes anyone who is its victim a loser or a quitter. God does not want any of His children to live with such fears.

This new month make up your mind, to walk devoid of a fear that fails to recognize the victorious person you are in Christ. This fear has torment and it is not the kind that God desires for His children. Say "no" to it and go ahead and press into all of God's promises to you even as you recognize that Christ in you is the hope of glory.

The Holy Ghost.

Even they with whom you roll, will quickly realise that something is off about you. You are there, and may look like them, but still you cannot hide. Jesus cannot really be hidden. For no one lights a candle and puts it under a bushel. And that is salvation, the eternal lighting of your inner lamp. Christ in you is an illuminated destiny, a lighthouse of the most high and the heavenly, a beacon in the darkness which cannot be obscured, and so therefore, neither can you. Your essence has been forever changed.

You are now a stranger in this world.

If this is not your experience; if you feel at home where you once belonged before you met Jesus, so that church things are an addition, just a new activity so that you rock the club on Friday night and rock the service on Sunday morning. Then your rocking of this age is simply evidence that you are not standing on the Rock of Ages

*A DIFFERENCE LIKE A WIDE OCEAN*

_Bible Insight:_

No matter how funky you are, if Christ has truly begun to live in your heart; even with your jeans and neck chains, you can never be mistaken for the world. As you sit in the party and roll with the guys ...inside of you, you will feel the difference between yourself and clubbers and party goers...a difference like a wide ocean.

You will also feel the acute painful desire to share what you have become, to baptise them in that ocean. It is called compassion. You can wear all the shredded jeans and even put a stud on one ear, but you will know that you can never be like them anymore. You will feel that something stands between them and you. It's called the Cross.

The precious blood of Jesus.

You will feel like a stranger in those clothes, because your body is now a temple made for white robes. Something will always be bubbling on the inside that all the loud and tapping music and activity cannot match. Or Someone. Bubbling up to eternal life. Constraining love. Restraining grace. Imperturbable peace. Incontrovertible wisdom. Convicting righteousness.

_Bible Insight:_

Listen: don't take your eyes off Jesus. In a bid to look very spiritual, some believers paint an unbiblical view of the Christian experience.

For instance, I could say, 'Nobody can harass me. Those who have tried it fainted instantly. Some of them could not move at all. I am a territorial general in the army of God.'

That would sound very impressive you know? Till you read the Bible and see that they slapped Jesus. Till you hear the same Jesus say that even His Apostles would be beaten and thrown in jail. Paul even had perils of robbers.

In fact, we are told that we could be wronged and spitefully treated. The picture we have in the Bible isn't that of a 'super human' posture that shields you from every unpleasant experience.

It's this simple reality: "We have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us." (2 Corinthians 4:7). That is, God using men of like PASSIONS AND TRIALS to do extraordinary things. That Paul after being stoned and beaten, could walk into another city and minister healing to the sick, with many other mighty miracles.

Oh, the excellency of God's power!

_MEDITATION:_
*Ministers who paint an untouchable, larger-than-life picture of themselves are simply exaggerating their experiences, and that gives their hearers a false expectation of what their Christian experience ought to be.*

If the Lord wanted you to be like Mr X, He would have made another Mr X. But He made YOU, and installed into you, a YOUniqueness with which to bless the world, and to show forth His glory.

You are a ‘dimension’ of God. You are a ‘move’ of God. You are a ‘flavor’ of God. You are a ‘method’ of God. Be secure in your calling. Be anchored in your ordination.

There are only three things you really need be concerned about:
- doing the work God told you to do;
- how God told you to do it;
- when God told you to do it.

One day, you will stand before the Monarch of Zion, and you will not be commended for doing it how everyone else did it. It will be for doing it the way He TOLD YOU to do it.

Remove pressure, competition, comparison and envy from your life. They are too heavy for you to carry on this pilgrimage. They will slow you down radically.

Look up; not around.
It is simple when you are looking at Jesus.

*THE TRAGEDY OF THE MAJORITY* (II)

_Bible Insight:_

When I first read the classic poem _"The Road Not Taken"_ By Robert Frost, I think I sort of fell in love with it. You will love it if you are a poem lover. 😀 I think it caught my interest, among other reasons, because it ended with how the choice of following the path less traveled by (I.e. the unpopular path), *"made all the difference."*

Beloved, everyone who will make a difference for God, must be a person who doesn't get carried away by what the world wants & thinks. *A lot of people do not take their walk with God seriously simply because a lot of people do not take God seriously*

A lot of people are scared of standing out. If you are scared of standing out, looking weird, talking differently, and doing things differently, you will never go very far with God. Abraham proved this statement right. He never cared what others thought when he wanted to leave his father's house to embark on a Journey to where he doesn't even know! He never hesitated to take Isaac his only son to sacrifice for God. Today, even after Christ, He still stands as a Father of Faith!

What are you scared of? Why are you so concerned about what others think about how you love or worship or follow God! God is never found by the crowd and band wagon effect followers. God is almost always going against the crowd and popular demand. Following hard after God is actually going against the tide.

You need to develop a mind-of-your-own approach if you must find God and do His bidden. Heaven is not going to be achieved by the validation seeking, people pleasing, attention seeking, never offending anybody type of believers.

_MEDITATION:_
*I will rise now, and go about the city in the streets, and in the broad ways I will seek him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.* (Song of Solomon 3:2 (KJV))

PS: If you must find God, the lover of your soul, don't seek him in the city streets and in the broad ways of life. #Selah
