Jesus emphasizes that His disciples are not of the world, just as He is not of the world. This statement highlights the distinction between believers and unbelievers. While believers live in the world, they are not part of its sinful system. They have been called out of darkness into God's marvelous light and are expected to live according to God's standards. The lesson from this verse is that believers are to be in the world but not of the world.
