*DAILY DEW 7/FEBRUARY/2025* *I HAVE FINISHED THE WORK* _Key Bible Text:_ *"I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was."* (John 17: 4-5 (KJV)) _Bible Insight_ Jesus' statement in John 17:4-5 is a declaration of His accomplishment and a request for restoration. He affirms that He has glorified the Father on earth by completing the work assigned to Him. This work includes His teachings, miracles, and ultimately, His sacrifice on the cross. Jesus' statement emphasizes His commitment to fulfilling the Father's will. Jesus then asks the Father to glorify Him with the same glory they shared before the world was created. This request is not about seeking personal aggrandizement but about returning to His pre-incarnate state of glory. Jesus' desire is to regain the full expression of His divine glory, which was veiled during His earthly ministry. The lesson from this verse is that our purpose and fulfillment are found in completing the work God has assigned to us. Like Jesus, we should strive to glorify God through our lives and work. Moreover, Jesus' request for restoration reminds us that our ultimate hope and desire should be to share in God's glory, not seeking earthly recognition or praise.
