*DAILY DEW 16/DECEMBER/2024*
*ACTS 1:8 & ACTS 8:1* (3)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"...And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles."* (Acts 8:1 (KJV))
_Bible Insight_
So we can say the Lord used or allowed persecution to serve as a prompt or catalyst to get them back to the divine order:-
"Witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in Judea, and in Samaria and unto the uttermost parts of the earth"
But be that as it may, when you read Acts 8:4 it says, *"Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word."*
The scattering in itself is not enough. As they scattered to Judea, Samaria and uttermost parts of the earth, they went everywhere preaching the word.
Think about that for a moment. Would you have preached the word of God in similar circumstances if you were in their shoes? Or would you have been full of excuses why you can't even get yourself to preach the word!?
Finally, note that the 12 apostles remained in Jerusalem in spite of the scattering persecution. They were not too afraid to run out of of Jerusalem because the Lord had told them to evangelize Jerusalem AND Judea, AND Samaria, AND unto the uttermost parts of the earth.
_MEDITATION:_
*IF PERSECUTION did not stop the early church from preaching the word everywhere they went, what excuses do you think is valid for not preaching the word habitually?*
