Proverbs 4:24 (Amplified) Put away from you false and dishonest speech, and willful and contrary talk put far from you. Proverbs 4:24 (ESV) Put away from you crooked speech, and put devious talk far from you. Proverbs 4:24 (GNB) Never say anything that isn't true. Have nothing to do with lies and misleading words. Proverbs 4:24 (NLT) Avoid all perverse talk; stay away from corrupt speech. Again, you must guard your heart. And when you do, you will have a better control of your speech. Our speech must be guarded. We cannot afford to become accustomed to saying things we don't mean, we don't believe, we don't really approve of, things that are not true. What of promises and assurances we know we are not likely to keep?
