David Joshua Egbochuo  30th October, 2023

*DAILY DEW 29/OCTOBER/2023* *TONGUES* (III) _Key Bible Text:_ *"And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language."* (Acts 2:5-6 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ This was not tongues and interpretation. This was a miracle! Jews who didn’t speak the language of the gentiles were enabled by Gods spirit to communicate to people from “every nation under heaven" (See vs 5). The message is clear.God is back for the gentiles and not just the Jews! The question now arises. If the tongues spoken here was that of other nations unknown to the speaker, shouldn’t this be the only manifestation of tongues? The answer to this is found in the scriptures! There are a few adjectival prefixes used before tongues whenever it appears in scriptures. 1. Other tongues Acts 2:4 Other is in the Greek “heterais" which is in the dative case, feminine gender and singular. It is an adjective which means “another of a different kind" In context this is speaking to languages unknown to a party. It is different but not unknown to all. It is unknown to a few which in Acts 2:4 would be the disciples. 2. New tongues Mark 16:17 *"And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;"* (Mark 16:17) 'NEW' here is from the root Greek “kainos" but written here as “kanais" which is in the dative feminine plural. Kainos means new on the scene and never existed before. So _new tongues_ is referring to a dialect alien to what is spoken by any tribe on the earth. This is different from _other tongues._ It is this _new tongues_ that is so defined in 1cor 14:2-3 by Paul. See? No man understands this tongue. It is not an earthly language but a supernatural one. The word unknown was not in the original though we can see why the translators put that word there. I will stop here for now. Hope this helped? _MEDITATION:_ *For he that speaketh in an (unknown) tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.* (1 Corinthians 14:2) *#Olaleye_Oluwafemi* *#Daily_Wisdom_for_living* *#Becoming_More_Like_Jesus* *#The_Rise_of_An_Army* *#Daily_Dew_Devotional* *#Hello_OCTOBER,2023* ❤ Links To Visit: *FB Pages* https://www.facebook.com/DavidJoshuaEgbochuo/ https://www.facebook.com/thedavidgen/ https://www.facebook.com/THEREVIVALCORPS/ *Telegram Group:* https://t.me/joinchat/NzXQlVc9Hx7LfaRSnh9fHg Feel Free to Share with Friends.
