Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I'll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age."* (Matthew 28:19-20 (The Message)) _Bible Insight:_ Armed with the conviction true that evangelism is never wasted, another understanding needed to motivate you towards evangelism and missions is as follows. _3. Understand the relationship between evangelism and discipleship_ Evangelism is the process that leads to catching men like fishes, while discipleship is teaching men how to catch fishes. Evangelism is hosting men in the house like visitors; discipleship is making men become bonafide members of the house. Evangelism is teaching others; Discipleship is having others teach. Evangelism is bringing others into the kingdom, but discipleship is teaching others how to bring others into the kingdom of God. In evangelism you are acting like Christ, (who has given us the ministry of reconciliation) but in discipleship you are helping others become like Christ too. True Evangelism should lead to discipleship and true discipleship must bring about evangelism. None is complete without the other. God's goal is actually discipleship, evangelism is supposed to be the means to discipleship not the goal. _MEDITATION:_ *"Discipleship is the art and science of helping people find, follow and fully become like Jesus.
