*DAILY DEW 29/SEPTEMBER/2022*
*"Hello, Hello, Oh We Lost Him"*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life."* (2 Corinthians 3:5-6 (KJV)
_Bible Insight:_
There is this joke about radio programs, how, many people seem to die on radio programs, because you will hear - Hello, Hello, oh we lost him😀
It reminds me of how many people have 'died' in Bible study by the same token - misinterpreting a single word by removing it from its passage and from its contextual meaning, and focusing on the meaning of the original Greek word behind that word. The letter killeth🤷ðŸ½â€â™‚ï¸
Unfortunately for them, language is more than the sum of individual words. Assuming what the radio presenter said was a verse of Scripture, and I take 'LOST' from the sentence - We lost him - and check the Greek word, I'll conclude that the person has died, because that is what it means to lose a person!😃
But in the context of radio programs, it simply means something else. It means disconnected communication, not death! There's no how you can miss that if you are listening to the radio program. You may only arrive at such a wrong conclusion when you focus on that one word - the word 'Lost'
Then you end up looking for what is not lost. ..ehm..the Greek word for faith used here is ajeokutamamomi, the Hebrew word for prayer used here is agbado, and that means so so and so....No Sir. We have to be careful about such methods. Always check the meaning of words first from the MICRO-context of a passage
Micro-context, because there are some strange brethren who always appeal to macro-context when they want to play kalo kalo with the word. Something will be very clear in the Bible, but because they cannot accept the truth of it, they start saying - 'Go back and start reading from chapter one to understand the context.'
Hehehehehe - alawada, Mr. Bean in Bible Study, Episode 1. If you like go back to Kafanchan and start from Chapter minus twelve hundred, the truth will not change. 1 John 1:9 that says if we confess our sins, God is faithful to forgive and cleanse us won't change because you went back and started reading from Chapter Wikipedia. Lol.
_MEDITATION:_
*"So...Back to micro-context. Macro is important for general grasp, but micro is key for specific truths. The Bible wasn't written in chapters and verses and passages often have main points, side points, tributaries, detours and so on. If you must check for a root word, always do so with the micro-context in mind. Avoid changing the meaning of a whole verse or couple of verses because of one word.*
*Once I see a person do that, I usually conclude that as far as the truth is concerned o "We lost him.".*
