*DAILY DEW 24/MAY/2023* *“HE ANOINTS MY HEAD WITH OIL"* _Key Bible Text:_ *"Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over."* (Psalms 23:5 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ I always wondered what this part of Psalm 23 meant. I thought “He anoints my head with oil” was figurative language for God keeping the Psalmist healthy. I never knew this parallel. Sheep can get their head caught in briers and die trying to get untangled. There are horrid little flies that like to torment sheep by laying eggs in their nostrils which turn into worms and drive the sheep to beat their head against a rock, sometimes to death. Their ears and eyes are also susceptible to tormenting insects. So, the shepherd anoints their whole head with oil. Then there is peace. That oil forms a barrier of protection against the evil that tries to destroy the sheep. Do you have times of mental torment? Do worrisome thoughts invade your mind over and over? Do you beat your head against a wall trying to stop them? Have you ever asked God to anoint your head with oil? He has an endless supply! His oil protects and makes it possible for you to fix your heart, mind, and eyes on Him today and always! There is peace in the valley! May our good Father anoint your head with oil today so that your cup overflows with blessings! God is good and He is faithful!!” _MEDITATION:_ *The oil is a symbol of the Holy Spirit. *DAILY DEW 23/MAY/2023* *RAISE A PRAYER ALTAR FOR MISSIONARIES* _Key Bible Text:_ *"And pray for me, too. Ask God to give me the right words so I can boldly explain God's mysterious plan that the Good News is for Jews and Gentiles alike. I am in chains now, still preaching this message as God's ambassador. So pray that I will keep on speaking boldly for him, as I should."* (Ephesians 6:19-20 (NLT)) _Bible Insight:_ GO into the world and be involved in MISSIONS. Even if you can't, for certain reasons, PLEASE PRAY FOR MISSIONARIES. They seem to be the target of the enemy as we speak. Pray for: Safety & Provision, among others. We need your prayers NOW than before. The GOSPEL needs to be preached at all cost but it doesn't have to be by the blood of men when it could be averted. Hearing of the transition of missionaries from all around the world, on mission fields, is capable of weakening the resilience of others. Please PRAY FOR MISSIONARIES. Please GIVE TO MISSIONS. Please GO FOR MISSIONS. I speak as one who has a FIRSTHAND experience of what missionaries go through to make sure the GOSPEL is preached to the unreached. Those stepping out of their front door do not know whether they will return alive. Please pray for safety for those living with fear. Local church leaders tell Open Doors that the climate of fear is now being fanned by politicians. Voices from the old Bashir regime are now openly suggesting the move to democracy was an error, and that the only peace now lies in a return to the authoritarian rule of the past. Please pray that the Sudanese people reject these voices. Local church leaders ask that we pray for justice and healing – and an outcome that does not open the way for more radical Islamist groups. *DAILY DEW 21/MAY/2023* *CALLED TO PRAY FOR THE NATIONS-- SUDAN* (II) _Key Bible Text:_ *"I want you to know how glad I am that it's me sitting here in this jail and not you. There's a lot of suffering to be entered into in this world--the kind of suffering Christ takes on. I welcome the chance to take my share in the church's part of that suffering."* (Colossians 1:24 (The Message)) _Bible Insight:_ “Christians in Sudan are always vulnerable,” notes Fikiru Mehari, a field researcher with the Christian charity Open Doors in East Africa, “and now, they are even more vulnerable.” Open Doors ranks Sudan at number ten on it’s World Watch List - making Sudan the 10th most dangerous country in the world to be a Christian. Conversion from Islam to Christianity no longer means the death penalty – but it does means shame and hostility. Christian converts are often thrown out of their own homes and communities, or disinherited by parents. “Now we have a situation, in this violence, where Christian converts may be trapped, or locked up, with family members who may be deeply abusive to them,” Mehari points out. ”It is a situation of huge concern, particularly for women.” Financial vulnerability is a further issue. Employment discrimination against Christians is a fact of life in Sudan. “When you apply for a job, they will openly ask you at interview, what is your religion?” says Mehari. “Many times that translates into only precarious employment, and no permanent means of income. There is a reason he sent them out two by two. You will be much more fruitful and accomplish much more by having an evangelism partner(s) you go out with every week! The best place to learn a balanced gospel message is from salvation tracts!
