God uses the prayers of His people to build up His Kingdom. Jesus said to Peter, in Luke 22:31-32, *"Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren."* The success of the witnesses' assignment lies heavily on prayers. We can't just preach men into God's kingdom without prayers. We can't just sing men into the Kingdom without prayers. We can't just cajole men into the kingdom without prayers. We can't just use examples and godly living to win men into the kingdom without prayers. Prayer is always an essential necessity in every activity that will bring about spiritual growth, kingdom growth, kingdom expansion and soul winning. Though *"The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few"* we can't just rush into the work without prayers. God uses the bold to build up His Kingdom. The word of God is to be boldly declared. Those who represent Christ must be bold and unashamed. We are not timid or insecure. We are loud but respectful. We are firm, convincing and inspiring. We don't cower or shy away from declaring or defending the Gospel of Christ. The witness assignment requires the ability to speak up wherever and whenever necessary. At home, at the office or shop or workplace or in school or any where at all. Boldness is an essential requirement for an effective witness. Be bold as lion. Be brave and expressive. The Holy Ghost is the Spirit of boldness, power, love and sound mind! And He has been given to us as our backing. So what's your excuse!? *DAILY DEW 19/OCTOBER/2023* *The Witnesses' Assignment* _Key Bible Text:_ *"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."* (Acts 1:8 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ You may never become an Apostle, a Prophet, a Pastor, an Evangelist or even a Teacher. No! You may never be any of these! But once you are born again, you are born a witness of Christ! Being a witness is not a function of your temperament, whether introverted or extroverted. Really, it does not matter if you like to keep to yourself a lot, can lock yourself in your house for five straight days, or even throw away your phone inside locker for that long or more. It does not also matter if you talk so much, can hardly shut your mouth or else people will think you are sick and all. Yes, even if you are outgoing, love making friends and always happy to travel. Whether you are taciturn or loquacious, you are meant or designed to be a witness of Christ once you are a child of God, born of the water and the word, born of the Spirit of God, born of the word of God, and not of the will of man-- including your own will. What does it mean to witness Christ!? You are to reveal Jesus. You are to showcase Jesus to your world. You are to confirm that he lived, died, lives again and never to die again. You are to be the evidence that Jesus is real because your life gives credence to it and your testimony keep pointing to it. You are Christ's witness, not His weakness. You are Christ's example not His "shambles". *DAILY DEW 18/OCTOBER/2023* *The Underdogs' Advantage* (II) _Key Bible Text:_ *"God purposely chose what the world considers nonsense in order to shame the wise, and he chose what the world considers weak in order to shame the powerful. He chose what the world looks down on and despises and thinks is nothing, in order to destroy what the world thinks is important. This means that no one can boast in God's presence."* (1 Corinthians 1:27-29 (The Goodnews Bible)) _Bible Insight:_ Don't blow your own trumpet rather give praise to God who lifts the underdogs. God chooses to favour those who life may have been unfair to and their chances to win in the competition of life seems daunting or impossible. God chooses to smile upon such because He rather bless those who will recognize Him as their advantage than those who will ascribe their success to themselves-- how good they are or how well connected they are. Look at Jephthah. He was abandoned and treated like an outcast, his half siblings rejected him because he was born by an harlot. Eventually, he became sought after and made king over his people. And the underdog became victorious. God made the difference for him. (See Judges 11) Has life been unfair? Do you feel marginalized? Do you feel abandoned? Do you think you don't stand a chance? Does it look like all your mates have gone ahead of you and left you wallowing behind in pity? Listen, my friend! Don't you despair. Don't you throw in the towel. Don't you give up. Don't you get in any pity parties. Don't you call yourself what God has not called you. Don't you ever do that! Instead, call on God. He is your advantage. He is your helper. He has a soft spot for people like us. To do us good so we get him the credit and give him the glory. If a David can kill a Goliath in near unfathomable circumstances, God can rewrite your story for His glory, no matter the odds. _MEDITATION:_ *For [simply] consider your own call, brethren; not many [of you were considered to be] wise according to human estimates and standards, not many influential and powerful, not many of high and noble birth. *DAILY DEW 17/OCTOBER/2023* *The Underdogs' Advantage* _Key Bible Text:_ *"I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all."* (Ecclesiastes 9:11 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ "A competitor thought to have little chance of winning a fight or contest" is described as an underdog. Well, I have goodnews. God is the God of the underdogs. Please I didn't say the lazy or the unserious. That is not the focus here. Let me begin with the loudest example of all times. Jesus can actually be described as an underdog. First, even from birth, he would have been born to a shamed and disgraced Mary, who could not possibly explain to a Joseph how she got pregnant but God stepped in. Next, he would have been destroyed along with several innocent male children below two years of age, but again, God stepped in. After that, he was to begin his ministry, and people began to question him, asking "Can anything good come out of Nazareth?" As if that was not enough, after three solid years of doing good to the poor and mighty of his day, he was to be tried by public opinion, and a hardened and notorious criminal won the election. Oh! What of his moment of trial; He was to be arrested, all his best friends cum disciples deserted him. And eventually he was crucified as a poor criminal along with two notorious criminals. He very much passes for an underdog. But glory to God, I am telling this story today because He is the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings who rose from the dead and liveth for ever more and at the mention of His name every knee bows and every tongue confesses that Jesus is Lord...
