*Dealing With Depression* (II)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Why are you down in the dumps, dear soul? Why are you crying the blues? Fix my eyes on God--soon I'll be praising again. He puts a smile on my face. He's my God."* (Psalms 42:11 (The Message))
_Bible Insight:_
2. Avoid or defy negative and unproductive criticism.
As long as you reasonable can, avoid an environment of negative critics.
However, You can't always avoid negative criticisms but you can defy them. You defy them by not taking them to heart. Never take a negative criticism too personally. You will only hurt yourself and possibly give room for depressive thoughts.
Some criticism are necessary as a catalyst for change. But don't dwell on negative and non constructive criticisms. They only make you bitter rather than better.
Don't surround yourself with critics who do not do anything meaningful to help your life especially in the direction they criticize. Talk is cheap. If they were to be in your shoes, they may not even do as much as you.
To help you defy negative criticism, direct your thoughts towards those who speak well of you. It is unfortunate that we focus too much on bad reviews and criticisms and too little on the positive.
Don't overwork yourself over what men think or say about you. Rather ask yourself, "what does God say/think about me?" Even if you think God is not happy with what you are doing or what is being complained about, remember that God does not hate you and does not abandon you. God wants the best for you.
_MEDITATION:_
*What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?* Romans 8:31 (KJV)

*Dealing With Depression*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God."* (Psalms 42:11 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Depression can be smelled like a dead rat long before you reach its exact location. In other words, before you enter into depression proper, you can discern that it is attempting to rear its ugly head.
Depression can "attack" anyone. No one is immuned to being depressed. Those who stay away from depression or who do not get depressed are either those who do not know that they just escaped depression or those who are committed to stop it in its tracks before it manifests.
How can you deal with depression?
1. Recognize that it begins from the mind. What you think or allow your minds to focus on will either bring you into depression or help you avoid it.
If you go on social media, you will see many people, usually people your age or those you are older than, seemingly achieving fantastic feats. You can be tempted to take it like a taunt that you are not an achiever. This happens when you begin to compare yourself unnecessarily and unrealistically with others.
How do you overcome this? Stop the comparison. Stop thinking that they are shaming you. Stop thinking that it is obvious you are not achieving well enough. Stop thinking that all eyes are looking at you as an underachiever. Stop those negative, accusatory, self pity thoughts.
Rather, appreciate what they are doing and simply celebrate them and let it rest. Thank God for where you are coming from, for where you are and for where he is taking you to. Learn anything you can learn. But avoid feeling left behind because life has got everyone on their own unique race and timing.
_MEDITATION:_
*For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.* (2 Corinthians 10:12 (KJV))

*5 Reasons Prayers Don't Get Answered*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses."* (Mark 11:25 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
1. Unforgiveness (Mark 11:25-26)
If you harbor bitterness, offense, or unforgiveness in your heart towards somebody, it will hinder your prayers.
2. Unbelief (James 1:6-7)
If you are doubting, find Scripture about what you are praying for to understand God’s heart on the matter.
3. Wrong Motive (James 4:3)
If you are asking God for something, but there is no peace concerning what you are asking for, you may need to re-evaluate your motives.
4. Unconfessed Sin (Isaiah 59:1-2)
Having something on your heart that weighs you down and distracts your mind will cause an inability for you to connect with God.
5. Mistreating Your Spouse (1 Peter 3:7)
You must repent if you are harsh, mean, intentionally hurting their feelings, or speaking negative words that destroy their self-identity.
_MEDITATION:_
*Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.* (James 5:16 (KJV))

*FISHERMEN AND FISHERS OF MEN* (III)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep." (John 21:17 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
The greatest challenge of many fishermen, is wanting to be fishers of men while still giving priority to being fishermen!
We may not all become 100 percent fishers men, but the primary priority must become to be fishing for men.
We will constantly be caught between fishing men and being fishermen! It is like a tug of war.
Like the seed among thorns, it will be said of most fishermen who are trying to be fishers of men: "And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful." (Mark 4:19 (KJV))
It all begins with the Word. When we have not the word we cannot even talk of feeding the Lord's sheep!
If we must be fishers of men and not merely fishermen, we must dedicate our highest priority to God's word and the demonstration of the word.
This is the secret to the success found by the fishers of men who have gone before us. They proved their love not by oratory or good singing or good church call and responses, but by good obedience to God's word.
_MEDITATION:_
*The real kingdom heroes are those whose commitment is to prove that they love Jesus by first feeding themselves so they can feed the Lord's sheep, because no one gives of what they dont have no matter how much they will!!*

*FISHERMEN AND FISHERS OF MEN* (II)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep."* (John 21:16 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
They caught nothing all night when they stepped out of the will of God, pursuing the goodies of life rather than the bounties of eternity!
The difference was clear the moment Jesus came and said, *Throw your net out on the right side of the boat, and you will catch some.*
All our struggles in the strength of might and in disobedience or flesh cannot exceed or even equal one singular act of obedience to His word!
When we join in the grind, hustle and bustle of the world, without regard to seeking our Lord's voice or will, we will be "fishermen" but never "fishers of men"
Fishers of men move by the revelation of and from the Word not by the information of and from the world! The world's information may inform us on how to become better fishermen but cannot transform us into fishers of men!
We cannot become fishers of men, if we have not obeyed the word of the master--- "Feed my sheep!"
And we cannot feed the master's sheep if we ourselves are too busy seeking daily bread without making time out to seek daily word from the Lord!
_MEDITATION:_
*The real kingdom heroes are not the fishermen who make much in living and earning but the fishers of men who make much of dying to self and feeding men ready & useful for God!*
