*THE STUFF OF A SUCCESSFUL MARRIAGE* (II)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. AND THEY WERE BOTH NAKED, THE MAN AND HIS WIFE, AND WERE NOT ASHAMED."* (Genesis 2:24-25 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
2. Openness and oneness.
Make openness easy. Be transparent. Don't wait to be asked, "what is that?" Or "who was that?" Even when the question comes, don't be like "why are you asking?" Drop such attitude. Instead, expect those questions that help you open up and never treat such questions with an unwelcoming attitude or approach.
Take every opportunity to build openness and oneness. Give your spouse room to know all there is to know about you and don't create unnecessary thoughts of "who knows what he is going about now" or "who knows what she is going about now".
Build oneness consciously. Arguments of having or not having one's password and access to each other's phones should not even be a matter. Issues of not knowing what each other is earning should not be a challenge at all. The temptation is to try to keep somethings back. Fight off that temptation and live an open policy.
PS: This helps a lot in the unexpected event that one goes to be with God before the other. The openness comes in like a big relief because the surviving partner will not be struggling too hard to fish out all the properties or belonging of the late spouse.
3. Patience.
Patience is and will forever be key to any marriage. Patience between and towards the spouses. Patience towards challenges and trying times. Patience towards learning or unlearning what needs to be learned. Patience towards what you don't like about each other. Patience towards growing in the things of God. Patience cannot be over emphasized.

*THE STUFF OF A SUCCESSFUL MARRIAGE* (I)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace."* (James 3:17-18 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
In the spirit of appreciation to God for my six years of marriage, I write. I do not write as an expert or one who already attained. I am a learner who still look up to those who are more successful and have gone ahead of me. I am only sharing because I believe the little I have learned may bless someone and also, there is a way sharing, helps you know better what you think you already know. So I present some of my lessons and observations, from my few years of marriage.
1. Peace & connectedness.
Create a culture of peace and connectedness. Conflicts will come unexpectedly and expectedly but nurturing and preferring a culture of peace and an atmosphere of connectedness will always prevail over every conflict.
Maintaining peace and connectedness means quitting the "cold war" mode as soon as possible. Quit the unforgiveness and offence mode as quick as possible. Verbalize and normalize forgiveness and oneness. In fact, cultivate the habit of forgiving ahead. It is so unfortunate that many so called church and even spiritual brothers and sisters have not learned the art of forgiveness.
Don't let issues separate you, rather, see all issues as "The Couple vs the Issue". The temptation is always to either see "the Issue with the wife versus the Husband" or "the issue with the husband versus the wife". Doing that is allowing the issue or pain or disagreement point, divide you. At all times, remain a team. It is "We" versus the issue we are trying to resolve.
This stance, or position, when learned or adopted, helps you value peace and connectedness more than who is right or who is wrong.
_MEDITATION:_
*"But the wisdom from above is first of all pure (undefiled); then it is peace-loving, courteous (considerate, gentle). [It is willing to] yield to reason, full of compassion and good fruits; it is wholehearted and straightforward, impartial and unfeigned (free from doubts, wavering, and insincerity).* (James 3:17(Amplified))

*To Be Kind is the goal-- Not Nice*
_Key Bible Text:_
*Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.* (Colossians 3:12-13 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Too often nowadays, Christians have taken up the counterfeit version of that sentimental view of love that, of all things, Christians should be nice.
Isn't Church about forgiveness? Are Christians not supposed to love others as God does......unconditionally? Well, God is not nice. He is ...............kind.
Kind will cleanse a dirty wound. Kind will pour the Spirit on it. Kind will bind it up with the bond of perfection. Kind will give antibiotics and come to check in a few days if you are doing better.
Nice?
Nice will only pour water on the wound, and that is if you will allow, because methylated spirit will sting. Nice will ask you if you want your wound to be called a wound, and if you say you do not want it so called, because you feel it is just another opening....
Nice will call your wound a second mouth, or a spare nostril. Nice will tell you we have all had wounds, and to single out yours for treatment is hate.
And even though it has mostly become a jocular statement, whosoever first said that *"Nice is not a fruit of the Spirit"* Must have been filled with the Spirit of God.
God's love is patient. It waits. It forgives. It accommodates. It hopes. It confronts. It rebukes. It chastises. To insist on remaining as you are, is to refuse His love.
For God's love is transforming.
It is NOT nice.
_MEDITATION:_
*"He accepts you as you are, but is passionately unwilling for you to remain the same. He will not insist, but to remain as you are you will have to resist Him."*

*UNDERSTANDING PRINCIPLES OF THE KINGDOM:Seeds of Destiny* (VIII)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."* (Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
_Types of seeds_ (Cont'd)
8. PRAYER IS A SEED.
Prayer is a very important spiritual discipline. It is also a very powerful seed. Every investment in biblical praying is a worthy investment never to be regretted.
When we sow the seeds of prayers, we reap a harvest of answers. We cannot love God and not imbibe the discipline of spending time in prayer.
Matthew 21:22 (KJV) declares *"And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive."* Yet, there are certain examples we are given all through scripture of things to pray about:-
James 5:14-15 (KJV) talks about sickness and prayers: *"Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him."*
Jesus also taught us as follows:
*"Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest."* (Matthew 9:37-38 (KJV))
We also taught to pray for all men, kings or presidents or leaders of nations etc:
*"I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;"*
Even as we can pray for all things that we need, it is important we also pray those things that the scriptures specifically asked us to pray for. And one that is lacking so much, is praying for the nations, for souls and for spiritual growth. When last did you pray for those who are not saved? When last did you pray towards missions and evangelism?
How are you investing your prayers?
_MEDITATION:_
*"After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen."* (Matthew 6:9-13 (KJV))

*UNDERSTANDING PRINCIPLES OF THE KINGDOM:Seeds of Destiny* (IV)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"A gentle response defuses anger, but a sharp tongue kindles a temper-fire. Knowledge flows like spring water from the wise; fools are leaky faucets, dripping nonsense. Kind words heal and help; cutting words wound and maim."* (Proverbs 15:1-2,4 (The Message))
_Bible Insight:_
Our focus will now be on non-obvious seeds that are critical in destiny determination
_Types of seeds_ (Cont'd)
4. MY WORDS ARE SEEDS.
Yes, your words are seeds! How are you sowing them? You could sow them right or you sow them wrong. It's a good idea to taste your words in your mind's mouth, before you dish it out for anyone else to hear. It is a great practice for every believer to heed this instructions:-
*"Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man."* (Colossians 4:6 (KJV))
The seeds you plant in the lives of others can make or mar them. You can have great intentions but make a poor worrisome communication. You can have a godly advice but your delivery will be anything but Christlike.
The seeds of the word that comes from your lips can also make or mar your own very life. Hence we are told:-
*"Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life]."* (Proverbs 18:21 (Amplified))
Dear farmer, how's your planting going? How is your reaping too? Whatever you have in your life today, is a result of seeds of Words, both yours and others (to the extent you have allowed them, whether good or bad). Words can make great beginnings, words can bring great things to an end. Check, every war has been a result of words, spoken and unspoken, written or unwritten, managed or ill-managed.
Everything beautiful has also been rooted in beautiful words. Check the words you are planting in your life and the lives of those around you!
_MEDITATION:_
*"Curses and blessings out of the same mouth! My friends, this can't go on. A spring doesn't gush fresh water one day and brackish the next, does it? Apple trees don't bear strawberries, do they? Raspberry bushes don't bear apples, do they? You're not going to dip into a polluted mud hole and get a cup of clear, cool water, are you?"* (James 3:10-12 (The Message))
