*DAILY DEW 4/MAY/2023* *Destroying The Works of The Devil* _Key Bible Text:_ *"Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied."* (1 Samuel 17:45 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ David had a simple task to do-- just deliver food to your siblings at the battle front and come back. However, he got there, delivered the food, and picked a far greater bigger task for himself-- to kill Goliath who had threatened a whole nation and its entire defense force for 40 days. What motivated David? David would not allow the devil or his minions (presented as the Philistines) to come mess up the people of God, and by extension the glory of God. Like David, and even far more, Jesus went about destroying the works of the devil, who has been threatening and messing up the lives of so many people. In one case He had to suspend the laws of sabbath, to heal a woman who the devil has kept bound for years. Luke 13:16 (KJV) captured his response:- *"And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?"* In closing, I share the views of my brother, David O. Alabi:- _"Many people live their lives in fear of the devil. He is the one pursuing, while they are on the run. He's the one making all the trouble, while they are wailing and mourning. But in Christ, the story is different._ _Jesus went about doing good, and HEALING ALL WHO WERE OPPRESSED OF THE DEVIL. He was the One chasing the devil, and not the other way round! He was searching everywhere to see how much trouble he could cause for the devil._ _How much trouble are you causing for Satan today? Oya go out in faith, preach the Word, heal the sick, cast out devils. *DAILY DEW 3/MAY/2023* *WALKING WORTHY OF THE CALL* _Key Bible Text:_ *"By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter"* (Hebrews 11:24 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ The refusal of Moses to be called and identified as the son of Pharaoh's daughter has two fold lessons you must never miss. You should be aware of the most obvious lesson. How Moses refused to enter a life of royalty and no doubt enjoyment and first class privileges. He shunned all that and embarked on a journey of identifying with supposed slaves who happened to be God's chosen people. Truly, If you don't have faith, you can't walk with God. The other lesson that is not so obvious, but also very brutally important is a lesson we pick only when we reverse the whole lesson. Here is what I mean: Moses scorned and walked unworthily of the call upon his life to be the son of Pharaoh's daughter. He was singled out by Pharaoh's daughter on a platter of gold. She could have raised an alarm and caused him to be killed the very first time she came across him, but, well, grace and divine providence prevailed. Be that as it may, Moses was to be the son or grandson of the King-- Pharaoh. He scorned it. He rubbished it. Whereas Moses was right in the eyes of God, to have done that, which is why we identify him today among the heroes of Faith in Hebrews 11, but many believers on the other hand, actually rubbish the grace and the call of God upon them. Do you actually walk worthy of your divine calling? Or you scorn the people of God, as Moses scorned the people of Egypt? Are you walking worthy of the Call of God upon your life? Reflect on this. _MEDITATION:_ *"I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. *DAILY DEW 2/MAY/2023* *CALLED UNTO SUFFERING* _Key Bible Text:_ *"But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also."* (Matthew 5:39 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ As expected, "suffering" is a subject we will rather not deal with. But interestingly scriptures gives us ample teachings and examples of christ like suffering, when we take a closer look. The "turn your cheek for another slap" rule is quite ridiculous. But I think Jesus meant business because He went on to explain from Matthew 5:39 through to 44 & 45 which I will like to share again: Matthew 5:44-45 (KJV): *"But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;"* Now He didn't stop there. He wanted us to know why we should do this: *"That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust."* Make no mistake about this. This is a form of "suffering" too. You are clearly told to not take a pound of your own flesh or repay evil for evil. We are told to do this so that we can truly earn the right time to be called the children of God. *"Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing."* 1 Peter 3:9 (KJV) And the best part is that, though on the one side it is suffering, on the other hand, it is a blessing. A blessing in disguise indeed. When we do this, refuse to repay evil for evil, even when a part of us may be screaming, "DO YOUR OWN BACK", we are inheriting a blessing, according to 1Peter 3:9. Hallelujah! This world will not make obeying such teachings easy on you. But understand that it was never easy on Jesus either. He almost begged God to let the cup of suffering pass over him but in the end, he preferred to please God, and do His will. He also prayed for the forgiveness of those who took part in bringing suffering on Him. What will you do? May God help us in Jesus name! Amen _MEDITATION:_ *"For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God. *DAILY DEW 1/MAY/2023* *CALLED, PRESERVED & SANCTIFIED* (III) _Key Bible Text:_ *"By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward."* (Hebrews 11:24-26 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ As glorious as God's call upon every believer is, yet, it is not a glory without a story of blood. "No blood, no glory" truly. This is synonymous to saying "no suffering, no glory". We are called not only to share in the amazing nature of God Almighty as his sons, but to share in his spectacular ability to suffer "unjustly" but for righteousness. 1 Peter 2:21-23 (KJV) captures this perfectly: *"For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:"* He went on to explain further: *"Who (JESUS) did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously"* The ability to suffer for the cause of the kingdom, or for righteousness sake is a mark of God's calling. We cannot truly answer His call, and possibly avoid all chances of suffering for the sake of refusal to be compromised. At one time and in one way or another, you will encounter situations that will test you, situations that will put you in a position to either compromise and make some sort of profit, or refuse to compromise and suffer some losses. And some times your being bent on obeying the God and preaching the Gospel or living as a believer in righteousness, will cause you persecution or unjust denial of your right and entitlement. This is also part of the call of God and you must be ready! Dear friends, once you receive Jesus, God's call is upon your life. You are no longer going to have it your way all the time. More of often than not, you will suffer simply because you chose to do what pleases God, rather than what feels convenient or easy. *DAILY DEW 30/APRIL/2023* *SHUNNING HYPOCRISY* _Key Bible Text:_ *"And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye?"* (Luke 6:41 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ You may choose to be fake anywhere else; but please, not in church. In church, be real about life and godliness. No forming. No airs. No pretense...because in a real church, you are not just dealing with men. You are dealing with God. There are two kinds of pretenders. 1. The hypocrites: those who are still in love with the world and with sin but like to look holy in Christians circles. Yes. Big mistake. There's no point in living such a life. Stop wasting your time going to church. At the end of the day, you gain nothing but judgment. Make up your mind to lay hold of the grace of God, wave a final goodbye to the world, and follow Jesus with your whole life. 2. The disobedient: those who think being real means behaving anyhow in the corporate fellowship of believers - dressing anyhow, saying anything, and just 'being yourself'. Er....No. Christian faith is not about you. Church is not about you. It is about God. It is about Jesus. And to be in church means to be there for Him. Not for yourself. Who He is. How great He is. What He has done. His will. His word. His purpose etc. You are there, not to just express yourself and stay deformed, but to meet the Lord Christ and be transformed. 1. are pretending that God they are worshipping in public is not present in their private lives 2. are pretending that God they are running away from privately is not present in the corporate worship Lord have mercy on His people. _MEDITATION:_ *Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
